Those who updated to 14.8.1, how was it? No bugs or any other issues?

Weird issue with attempting a battery replacement through Apple

    Posted: 01 Nov 2021 11:04 PM PDT

Excuse the wall of text below, but this is something that i haven't seen anywhere before. Hoping someone else may have some advice on this.

So I've had my X ever since launch, and my battery is down to 74% capacity. Impossible to get through a full day without charging at least twice. I said enough is enough and made a reservation at my local Apple Store for a battery replacement. $69 for a fresh feeling phone doesn't sound too bad.

When I get there, a guy has me come over and he begins performing a few diagnostics on it through his iPad. He says everything looked good for a battery replacement except there was no data coming up for the battery system itself. He tries the diagnostic again with no results. The message said "not enough data available" under the results for the battery system. After taking the phone over to another worker to verify the issue they both come back and show me that the wireless charging system has reported as having completely failed the diagnostic, and since that is an integral part of the battery system they are not allowed to replace the battery until it is confirmed okay through the test.

Well that doesn't make sense. I have a wireless charging pad I use almost daily with no issue and I have a car mount that also wirelessly charges my phone. I even asked them to test the phone on a wireless charging pad in the store, and the phone registered as charging with no issue. They were officially stumped but still wouldn't perform the replacement due to policy.

Obviously no fault to Apple or the employees there, they were just doing their job. But what now? I want to try to squeeze one more year out of this device but it's getting harder and harder each day with this battery. Anyone else experience anything like this?

First time iOS user here….Is this the normal battery experience, or is there an issue with my phone?
