| Can’t resume episodes of AppleTV+ shows Posted: 26 Nov 2021 08:12 AM PST So this could just be a me problem but ever since updating to tvOS 15.1 (and even 15.1.1), whenever I stop an AppleTV+ episode of any show and try to come back to it later, it will start from the beginning and just buffer constantly not doing anything on a black screen. The only way I can get it to even start playing is to skip ahead using the remote and that sort of unsticks it. But then I have to manually fast forward to where I was. I got the 1sr gen 4k AppleTV and it was working fine up until 15.1 when this first started. Has anyone else experienced this or found a fix? I've tried the main things like restarting and power cycling. The fact that this happens only with apple's shows makes me thing it's an issue on their end but I haven't heard anyone else mentioning it. I'm waiting to see if 15.2 will fix the problem otherwise I might have to try a factory reset at some point but that's a pain. [link] [comments] | ||

| Posted: 26 Nov 2021 03:01 PM PST Sometimes on my Apple TV streaming box, I have to force quit or reboot to remove an item from the Up Next queue, it's rare, but once in a while, it does happen, Where it really gets confused and is when it is a Charlie Brown special that I own.
I think it's worse with the specials because TV+ (or is it just Apple?) has the Charlie Brown rights, the episode lengths don't match at all. While the AppleTV+ version of A Charlie Brown Thanksgiving is 25 minutes, my version is 1:15 as it contains three shows (A Charlie Brown Thanksgiving / Mayflower Voyagers / Play It Again, Charlie Brown). I think the varying lengths of these are really throwing it off (all three of these have two extra episodes in the non-TV+ version). Last night I had the Christmas special jumping between the first and third up next slots (but not both at the same time), to be clear I didn't want it in either slot. It would turn into the TV+ version and be in the first slot and if I got that removed the owned version would pop back up in the third. It was very weird, the big poster background art (when in details) was often wrong. I was doing variations removing from Up Next, marking as watched, and also fast-forwarding to the end and letting the show end. It usually only takes me a few tries to get something out, but the Charlie Browns were causing me a problem. I'm not even sure what I finally did to get it out, I think it was making the shorter version go to the end and so it was happier? I think it got lost when it was at 1:14 when it thought the episode was 0:25 long. In hindsight, I'd have thought the Thanksgiving episode would be the more complicated one as it was a TV episode. Does anyone have similar issues? Specifically, the Charlie Brown shows, or something else? [link] [comments] | ||
| Please help - can't control AVR through ATV anymore Posted: 26 Nov 2021 02:31 PM PST One of the biggest pleasures I had with my ATV4 was that I could turn on and switch the audio output from the TV's internal speakers to my AVR through the top menu (sound). No need for using my TVs and my AVRs remote. I could control everything from the ATVs remote. BUT from one day to the other the option was removed from the UI, and I can't get it back for the life of me. Tried every setting to no avail. Anyone tried this or can show me in the right direction? Has it got anything to do with Airplay? or could it control the AVR via the optical out? Please help, I'm loosing my mind. Setup: LG B6 55" Oled connected to Denon X1000 AVR via optical cable and connected to ATV4 2nd gen. with CEC enabled and a good high speed hdmi cable. My AVR is in a different room somewhat far away, and it's not possible to run a HDMI to it. Only the optical cable that is already there (inside the walls) [link] [comments] | ||

I have a 4K 2021 model, hardwired, going into a 85" Sony X91J. Certain sources are breathtaking (Disney+ 4K streams) others are very much so exposing the faults of 720p on a large tv. For example NFL on YouTubeTV often only has up to 720p to display and it's brutal. Are there any settings where the 4K upscaling can help accommodate for the lower quality stream? | Posted: 26 Nov 2021 06:40 AM PST I turned on my 4th Gen Apple TV for the first time after recently moving to a new house. It stated it was not connected to a network, which was expected, so I grabbed the remote but it wasn't working. The light on the box would blink when I press a button, but no action would happen. I tried charging the Siri remote for an hour, same result. I unplugged the system for a bit and plugged it back in, no change. I tried pairing another 4th gen remote, but it will still just blink when I press a button. Finally I hooked the system up to my MacBook and did a factory reset and updated to the current OS. Now the Apple TV is stuck on the select language screen and the system still just blinks when I press a button on the remote. I tried using my iPhone via bluetooth and that worked to select language, but I couldn't do anything after that. I've reset the system again and once again I'm just stuck on the select language screen. Any help/advice would be greatly appreciated. [link] [comments] | ||

My wife's phone constantly tries to control other devices in our house. She's stopped my HomePod music on my office more than once. Tonight, her phone wants her to control our AppleTV. Mine was doing it too, randomly and out of the blue. I turned off 2 settings:
Suddenly mine stopped. Hers, on the other hand, still insists on controlling the Apple TV. Even when we tap the Airplay icon and choose "IPhone" it reverts back as soon as she locks her screen. It's maddening. She doesn't want this "feature" and clearly it can be turned off, but we can't figure out how. She's signed in to her Apple ID, not mine, which is the default for most devices in the home. Help! [link] [comments] | ||
