Posted: 03 Nov 2021 05:00 PM PDT Has anyone tried the new MacBook Pros (14 and 16) with the refresh rate locked at 60Hz (promotion turned off)? What is the difference in battery life? Wondering if there are any real objective tests out there! I get better battery for sure at 60Hz but I'd love to hear about everyone else's experiences. [link] [comments]
Fresh new MacBook Skins with matte finish! Posted: 03 Nov 2021 09:03 PM PDT What up r/Macbook! I own a large format vinyl print shop based in Denver Colorado and we've been working on bringing some sick new MacBook skins to the market! Most of our projects are in the realm of building wraps and large scale projects but we have all the materials, equipment and talent we need to introduce a new super high quality MacBook Skin so here we are! We use the 3M for all of our skins and we apply an over laminate to all of our skins as well which gives them a super high quality feel, added protection from scratches and Knicks as well as a nice matte finish so you don't deal with any glare. Would love any feedback or suggestions on designs that we currently have! Keep in mind this is our first batch and we intend on adding new designs each month! We can also do custom designs if you own a company or want a personal design made for your own branding, though we do have minimum order quantities on those! Hope you love them, thanks in advance! p.s. This is soft-launch until next week so the website and a few other features are still being cleaned up so go easy on us if you don't mind/see something out of place! [link] [comments]

What are the minimum requirements for charging a Macbook Air battery? Posted: 04 Nov 2021 12:26 AM PDT Hey, Does the battery power cable need to be plugged in around the clock in a Macbook Air? Or is it OK to have it unplugged a few hours per day until it reaches a certain minimum battery level or maximum battery level? Maybe some reliable sources about this for further reading? Macbook Air M1 esc key not registering Posted: 03 Nov 2021 08:33 PM PDT My escape key doesn't have any affect on my mac. When I press it, nothing responds. To verify the issue, I attempted using the esc key in several different applications (and none of them worked). Then to see if it was a software or hardware issue, I plugged in a separate keyboard and the esc still didn't work. Does anyone know any potential fixes to my issue? [link] [comments]
My M1 MBA Caps Lock Key Doesn’t Work A Lot Of The Time… Posted: 03 Nov 2021 12:29 PM PDT My caps key won't turn on unless I press it for a while. I mean I only need to press it for less than 300ms but I type fast so that is really noticiable and it messes up my rhythm. I bought my mac 5 months ago… I did not expect my keyboard to fail unlike my 2017 MBP… [link] [comments]

Are MacBooks good to play games? Posted: 03 Nov 2021 05:43 PM PDT I do think of buying a MacBook. I was never a fan of a pc, because I need something portable. Can MacBook run video games though? Of course I don't want to have MacBook to mainly play games, but how good do they run triple A games, like gta, warzone,… [link] [comments]
Avoiding "Herpes" During Macbook Transition Posted: 03 Nov 2021 01:53 PM PDT My trusty late-2013 MBP has lived a long and eventful life. I love this thing but it's time to put her out to greener pastures. My M1 Max MBP arrives tomorrow. I do have Time Machine backups from my 2013 and am backing up again right now, however, a comment my boss made to me years ago passed through my memory. When discussing using backups to transfer from one MBP to another of his - "What about all that computer... herpes in there?" What he's referring to is a bunch of files that you really don't need to transfer over... old downloads, cache bins, temp internet files, etc. My plan is to set up the new 2021 MBP like a new computer without using back ups. Then sync up iCloud to get my photos, messages, safari settings, keychain etc loaded in. I also have my desktop + documents folders synced up to iCloud drive and can sync those to my new MBP. So what do you think? Are there "herpes" of files that would get transferred over after 8 years of use that would be best left behind? If so, is my plan a good one to start "fresh" while maintaining my work files? Thanks! [link] [comments]
Aldente alternatives that don't need regular battery recalibration? Posted: 03 Nov 2021 06:44 AM PDT I have a 14" M1 Pro with Monterey, and I am aware of the built-in macOS battery limiter. However, macOS doesn't seem very smart about detecting constant A/C usage and after a solid week on AC power 24/7, my battery is still charged to 100%. I found Aldente which looks great, but right on the developer site it says the app can cause battery calibration problems and a full battery calibration cycle is needed every 2-4 weeks to work around this issue. Doing calibration also needlessly adds to the cycle count, which I'm not a fan of. So my question is, are there any third-party battery management utilities that can limit battery charing that don't need regular battery re-calibration? Must be Monterey/M1 friendly and prefer Apple Silicon native binary. [link] [comments]
Posted: 03 Nov 2021 12:36 PM PDT Hi all, I am considering a MBA purchase, but it seems like the palm wrist area is so small! I am male, 6'2" and have average hands for someone of my height. For those of you with similarly sized hands, what have you done to acclimate? Thanks! [link] [comments]
Posted: 03 Nov 2021 08:29 AM PDT One will work for a few months, then it won't, and then the other one will work for a few months, and then back to the other it keeps flip-flopping. I can't remember if they both worked upon purchase or not, but this has been going on for at least 8+ months? Thoughts? [link] [comments]
