Does anyone else exclusively game on iOS/Mobile? More details in comments.

Just giving some background because I'm curious if anyone else is the same way. October 2020 I built a custom PC. Parted it and sold it by Spring (just wasn't on it enough to justify the expense). I then was able to get an Xbox Series X. Played it a couple months and then sold it because it was collecting dust.

It seems the only gaming that I'm always consistently doing and happy doing it, is on my iPhone. I'm 36, good career, wife and kids. So maybe it's just because I'm a bit busier nowadays but I've looked back and the only 'platform' I've always stuck with, was iOS gaming.

Anyone else like this or feel this way?

Games like Swordy Quest, Melvor Idle, or text-based rpgs w/ multiplayer

    Posted: 05 Oct 2021 08:41 PM PDT

I really enjoyed Melvor Idle, but have since been playing Craftbound(TestFlight) and IdleScape (iOS browser). I recently found Swordy Quest and it's really close to what I'm looking for, but it didnt really do it for me.

Does anyone have any suggestions that give like an old school, text-based (or not), feel that has some multiplayer aspect - trading, marketplace, chat, guilds, or something? I'm also open to browser-based games that work on mobile.

Other "similar" games I've tried that come to mind are below: Simplest RPG Titan Conquest Immortal Reborn

    Thanks in advance

Project ICHR Review | Bullet Hell Meets Deck-Building

    Posted: 05 Oct 2021 03:42 PM PDT

I'm a huge fan of the Mega Man Battle Network series. I played every installment on the Game Boy Advance when I was a kid. I loved how it managed to blend deck-building elements with action gameplay. Ever since then, I've been trying to find games that emulate its unique battle system!

I eventually came across 'One Step From Eden', which was heavily inspired by the Mega Man Battle Network series while also adding its own roguelike elements to the formula. However, I didn't have any luck finding anything semi-similar on the mobile platform… until now.

———————————————————————————— Project ICHR Review | Bullet Hell Meets Deck-Building ————————————————————————————

Project ICHR definitely adheres to a sci-fi theme with its visuals. Unfortunately, they are pretty generic at the end of the day.

The same can be said about the game's sound design. There is no music and specific sound effects (such as pistol shots) can become annoying to hear over an extended period of time.

Luckily, the gameplay of Project ICHR is what truly helps it stand out. It touts itself as a roguelike, deck-building, bullet hell shooter. You have a deck of cards that is drawn from whenever you encounter enemies. They each have cool-downs (before you can use them) when they are initially drawn. These cards can range from abilities to weapons.

Abilities include things like dashes, grenades, and automated turrets. Weapons can be equipped to your character. You can utilize 2 different (or the same) weapons at a time in order to "dual-wield" them. This allows for some interesting synergies to dispatch of your enemies.

Once you clear all enemies in a room, you can decide whether to add a card, take away a card, or upgrade cards in your deck. Unfortunately, the the current card pool only consists of 20ish cards to discover and utilize. It doesn't take long to see everything the game has to offer.

Most of the game's strategy and decision-making comes from how many copies of certain cards you have in your deck, as well as which ones to upgrade.

If you happen to die, a death card is added into your deck. When drawn, it blocks a card slot from being utilized. If you get 4 death cards, your run is over. I think this is a unique death mechanic that works well! I'm surprised I've never seen something like it before!

Project ICHR has some great bosses to encounter too. It was fun to learn their ever-changing patterns and dodge their insane amount of projectiles. The game is definitely challenging at moments.

At the end of the day, I think this game has HUGE potential and I hope it receives future content updates. Its blend of deck-building and action works and manages to (kind of) scratch my Mega Man Battle Network itch! I just don't think there is enough content to make its price of $4.99 worth it for most potential players.

If you want to watch some gameplay and hear some more of my thoughts, feel free to check out my video review here: https://youtu.be/mfNDsDPOly8

I hope this review helps others and please leave your thoughts about Project ICHR in the comments below! Thanks!

Looking for this game I used to play.

    Posted: 05 Oct 2021 08:07 PM PDT

So it was a racing game. It had like a mechanic where you could collect cars and when you raced them I don't think you had any like control over the car when it was racing though.

Never mind I found it. It's called top drives if you'd like to try it. It's a card based racing game where you get to collect cars and just race them it's a really relaxed and simple game. I'd definitely recommend

Wild Rift (League of Legends) - How’s the community?

    Posted: 05 Oct 2021 12:01 PM PDT

I played League of Legends (PC) back in like 2013 and the community was SUPER rough. Just curious if the Wild Rift mobile community is super toxic or more chill? I think having a MOBA in my hands might be a good little escape on occasion.

If not Wild Rift, any other recommendations for MOBAs that have good dev support and a solid community?
