| Posted: 10 Oct 2021 09:38 AM PDT Correction: I strongly Like it The button layout is great, the mute button is so conviently placed for when I want to quickly mute a YouTube ad before it even starts playing. Only thing I would change is make Siri press to talk instead of hold to talk, seems like more of a task than just tapping it twice. Yeah I get you might accidentally press it but still. | ‘Optimum’ Apple TV 4K settings and black screen flicker on SDR content. Posted: 10 Oct 2021 08:44 PM PDT The consensus for Apple TV 4K settings seems to have video on 4K SDR and match refresh rate and dynamic range both set to on. I tried this and found that dark scenes in SDR content very obviously flicker. I have a Sony x950h, am using high speed hdmi cables, and played with every picture setting I could think of. No luck My two solutions for this problem are to either keep these settings but change color to RGB plus, or to change the video to Dolby Vision. Making these changes eliminates dark screen flicker. I would like to view SDR content as it was intended to be viewed, but I can not watch it if every dark screen obnoxiously flickers. I'm surely not the first person with this problem, so I'm wondering what any of you who have ran up against this problem have done? Thanks. [link] [comments]  |

| No video plays - Freezing at first frame on all apps Posted: 11 Oct 2021 02:47 AM PDT Looking to see if this a TvOS 15 issue, or just a broke AppleTV. I have two 4K models that worked fine. I just moved into a new place, and everything was great. Last night, the Living Room ATV just froze while watching YouTube TV. I tried restarting the app, and it just froze on the first frame. I tried HBOMax, Prime Video, and Netflix with the same results. Rebooted = Same results. Reset and Update = Same results. I found my other 4K ATV in a box, and hooked it up. Everything works perfectly! The only difference that I can find is the broke one is running TvOS 15, and the working one is on 14.7. I turned off automatic update just to make sure my only working TV is still good. Anyone else see something wonky like this? It's a new one on me. Kinda feels like the video codec is freezing, not so much of a network issue as that would affect both ATV's. [link] [comments]  |

| Help! Episodes of series won't load and stream properly! Posted: 10 Oct 2021 10:27 PM PDT So I just started my free trial of Apple TV last night and began watching the excellent series The Morning Show. I made it part way into the second episode before falling asleep. Tonight I turned my computer on, went back to the Apple TV site, logged in, but when I clicked on episode 2 to continue watching it, strangely only a 4 minute video--which contains visual elements indicating it is either part of or taken from the series--would play. Same deal when I tried to play episode 3, except the video clip was an 8 minute one there. I tried the usual, logging out and back in, making sure I wasn't logged into my VPN, closing and reopening the Chrome browser, but nothing I try is working. Does anyone have a clue what this is all about and how I can start watching the show again? [link] [comments]  |
| Posted: 10 Oct 2021 10:15 PM PDT Was using the apple tv free trial to catch the last 2 episodes of the walking dead (given they air a week early on there), and after my trial ended it keeps trying to auto renew and I have no way to shut it off or remove my card via "payment methods" before putting money on it. I go to manage subscriptions and all I see is amcexpired and when I tap that, it's just an empty page labeled "edit subscription" , any fix? Restart Apple TV (pull plug for 6 seconds), I've held Volume Up and Menu at the same time for awhile right against the unit...but nothing. I've charged the remote for an hour, nothing. It's the strangest thing. My phone works on it, but my kids can't use the TV now unless I'm right there with them. It's very strange...anyone seen this before? Over the last few days my Apple TV4K loses sync between audio and video after a few minutes, and it stays out of sync until a restart. This is a new feature and it happens on Netflix, other streaming services, and last night watching a movie from the Apple site. It's not my internet connection, all other apps connect. Sometimes the error will only show up for a specific show, e.g. it won't play Foundation, but Ted Lasso does. Anyone else getting this? | I saw something weird with my icons - live tv previews Posted: 10 Oct 2021 11:24 AM PDT So. I was switch back the Apple TV from my OTA live tv. All the app icons had pictures from tv channels. For example, I was watching football and one icon had a snapshot from the game. Another had what looked like an infomercial. But it was all gone and zoomed into one of my folders. I have not been able to recreate. Man, I would love to have an icon for all my favorite channels. I know it probably can't BT from OTA, but even YouTubeTV or Philo, that would be sweet. Let me explain step by step. 1) record video ar 4k60 HDR using 12 pro max 2) send to NAS(synology) to not lose quality 3) while using infuse it does show what file is 4k HDR 4) press play and it start play as SDR So wtf? Is it iphone got HDR metadata wrong, still infuse see its HDR, but doesnt play as HDR. Any suggestions like:-"use icloud and photo app on atv", pleave leave it. Quality get shrinked trough icloud. | Hulu is the only app not working! Posted: 10 Oct 2021 12:32 PM PDT Every other app works, Hulu does work but at the same time doesn't. Let me explain. You can see the list of all the shows, when you click to watch something the Hulu logo will show up, but then the pictures of the show won't show You can hear the show, but you can't see it.
