Hi, I have a nine day old M1 MBA and I noticed that the trackpad is kinda uneven. The right part’s slightly pressed than the left. Is this normal?

Is 2019 MBP still worth it?

    Posted: 06 Oct 2021 09:14 PM PDT

A guy from Marketplace sells me a MBP 2019 base model (128 GB SSD) for around 1000 USD.

Is this still a good choice for a macbook pro? I've never had a macbook before nor experienced the whole Apple ecosystem as it is. Just had an iPhone 5s back un 2015-17.

What should I consider if I buy this new laptop?

Also this same dude sells me an iPhone 11 base model 64 GB for around 500 USD. Could you guys tell me if buying both is a good idea? Or should I wait/sabe for the new models?

I'm coming from PC and Android

    Thanks

    How much storage is enough?

    Posted: 06 Oct 2021 08:26 PM PDT

I'm gonna be working with a lot of video editing and I was thinking of getting 256GB with external hard drives where I store footage and all, but would 256 GB be enough for the long run? Will all my apps fit in there or is it safer to go with 512GB and still try external SSD?

I'm getting more into YouTube type stuff and will be doing a lot with Final Cut Pro, things like that. What's the safer option?

returning for exchange - macbook air

    Posted: 06 Oct 2021 09:26 PM PDT

after having three troubleshooting calls and not being able to fix the microphone issue, i am sending it back in for a brand new one. since it falls under the 14 day warranty.

i have turned off 'find my' on this mac (assuming i did it correctly?)

i also de-authorized this device to make purchases (did this on the music app)

i also turned off firevault, and firewall is turned off (dont think i had it on to begin with)

do i need to sign out of my apple id as well?

i 'backed up' everything by sending it all to myself in an email. i dont even care if they can see my history and things. they said they would wipe it all. i just dont want there to be delays in them receiving this device and sending the new one; if there are then it could mean being penalized

Is 256GB enough for my MacBook Air?

    Posted: 06 Oct 2021 01:24 PM PDT

I've read a couple of articles that warn against taking the 256GB option on the Macbook. Personally, I decided to invest what little extra money I had into upgrading the RAM rather than the storage. I consider myself an average user, I don't do a lot (if any) video editing or gaming. All I'll mostly be storing on there are pictures and documents.

I also figure if it gets too dicey, I can use an external HDD or cloud storage.

    Thoughts?

Is MacBook Air M1 short on battery?

    Posted: 06 Oct 2021 12:30 PM PDT

I bought a Macbook M1 last week, I have been using my Mac for programming on languages like mathematica, latex, and R, and for taking my university lectures, also I've been using an external monitor.

I´m using it almost all day.

My Mac runs out of battery after like 6 hours, is this normal? I'm confused since the battery of this Mac is supposed to last around like 10 hours, as far as I know.

Should I left my Mac connected to electricity instead of using the internal battery?

Does anyone have any problems with safari? I got my m1 pro in July and safari has been working fine but like 2 weeks ago my safari wouldn’t load any page when my internet connection is fine, and so now I have to use chrome but id rather use safari bc of the ram usage.

What are the absolute best products for a known clumsy laptop dropper to protect a high-cost MacBook?

    Posted: 06 Oct 2021 07:17 AM PDT

I see some people keep their MacBooks for many many years. I'm a Windows and Linux guy and this next iteration of the Macbook (m1x) will be my very first Apple purchase (because I'll be developing ios apps). I know we won't get good products for m1x until it's been out a while but I want to know how people are doing this currently.

I'll get the obvious answer out of the way: "don't pick it up". Yeah, I know, but that's going to be tough for me as I have a few weird physical work requirements. I'm looking for ways to augment that with products.

Are there really good drop protection products? Cases that prevent chipping? What would you use if you still want to keep the laptop fairly mobile? There's blog spam on this but I'd rather go with a lesser-biased group of superusers' opinions.

Cost doesn't really matter as long as the benefits match the cost compared to other similar products.

Buy a MacBook Pro right now, or wait until the event...

    Posted: 06 Oct 2021 01:08 PM PDT

I am buying a MacBook for pretty much exclusively Logic Pro X. Should I just go for it right now or wait until the new events? My budget is like $1500-$1700

Semi-permanent / low profile storage expansion for MBP 2019

    Posted: 06 Oct 2021 08:24 AM PDT

I severely underestimated how much I'd be using my MBP 2019 with Touchbar and didn't get a large SSD. I later found out that storage cannot be expanded.

I am looking for an external storage solution that I can keep attached to my MBP on a near-permanet basis. For example, on my Surface Pro, there's a hidden SD card slot I can use as external storage. I am looking for something like a low profile SSD that is designed to sit flush with the MBP. In other words, I want to be able to move around with my laptop without having to hold onto an external drive hanging by a cable.

    Are there any suggestions?

Does anybody get this on their MacBook M1 pro? I’m trying to update it and whenever it bypasses this and shows me the updates and I click on update, it says to check my internet connection or something when my internet’s working fine

Help - my macbook pro is dying

    Posted: 06 Oct 2021 01:18 PM PDT

I'm an idiot who has not updated my macbook pro in around 6 years. It has not been a problem until now, but I know I should have updated it many years ago... I have El Capitan 10.11.6 and 128GB on my mac primo 2015, and I am thinking about resetting it to get the Big Sur update. Is that a good idea? To make it even worse, my keyboard and mousepad stopped working a couple of weeks ago, so I have been using an external keyboard and mouse. Can I use that while resetting my mac?

MacBook Pro suddenly turns off, goes black.

    Posted: 06 Oct 2021 09:30 AM PDT

My four year old MacBook Pro yesterday had two incidents where it was working then would shut off all of a sudden.

It would turn off and on very quickly and if I got to the loading screen about 80% of the time once I typed in my password it would shut off.

When looking at the system log it did note the shutdowns and times. I ran disk utility and checked battery (all good). It did do some updates but then still failed a few hours later.

Im not sure if I should just update the OS or if there is a bigger issue.

Im a graphic designer (everything is backed up) so I really rely on my computer so I'm a little petrified. I wanted to go on here first before making an apple appointment where my guess is my computer would be shipped away.

    Any help is appreciated 🥲

I am really stuck at buying a case or not, and there aren't any good recommendations what so ever.

I got myself a dbrand skin which will arrive soon, but do you all think a case would be good?

Macbook just popped, should I be worried?

Macbook just popped, should I be worried?

    MacBook Pro 15'' (2016)
I was just watching video on YouTube and my MacBook sprang up a little and made a pop sound.
I checked the bottom and saw that the middle part is sticking out a bit.
now my MacBook is sitting on its bottom, having contact with the table surface, and not on all its feet.

Should I be worried about this? the MacBook works just as usual..

    any advice? thanks
