- Hi Everyone. I need help on the supported RAM speed/model for my Macbook 2009. So far i check at everymac.com, it claim that max is 6GB @ PC2-6400S 800MHz, so = 2GB+4GB, but i can only find 4GB RAM is PC3-12800S. So anyone have any idea actually which ram i should use to achieve max 6GB RAM TQ

What's the best solution for multiple displays on a new MacBook? Posted: 07 Oct 2021 09:58 PM PDT I use a 2018 15" i7 MacBook Pro hooked up to two external displays, using DVI to USB-C cables. It works great, and I love the set up. My partner wants to buy a new MacBook so she can have a similar setup at her desk. However, I hear the M1 MacBooks don't support multiple displays. What's the best solution these days for a multiple display setup with a MacBook? Use an old MacBook? A new intel Mac? [link] [comments]
Buying from Authorized reseller with no return policy? Posted: 07 Oct 2021 09:36 PM PDT I live in India and I'm looking to buy a Macbook air M1 base model. Flipkart.com has a great discount, and is listed on Apple's website as an authorised reseller, but for some reason the macbook page says "0 day replacement". I'm pretty sure I can contact apple if something is wrong with the product when it's delivered, but I wanted to ask you guys. [link] [comments]

M1 MBA space bar not reattaching Posted: 07 Oct 2021 01:22 PM PDT Hello! I have a 13' M1 MBA and it had something stuck under the spacebar. The spacebar was properly removed, no damage to the key or its socket but I cannot figure out how to reattach it without the key being fully stuck down. The layout does not match nay others I have seen on other forums and none of them have helped. Hoping that you guys can help. [link] [comments]

Quest for my ultimate multi-adapter Posted: 07 Oct 2021 02:42 PM PDT I've got a 2017 12" MacBook and I'm searching for my perfect multi-adapter but I can't find it! I'm looking for one that is 'cableless', as in it has the male USB c attached solid, straight to the side. I want one that has a USB c pass through, regular USB x2, HDMI and sd card slots (standard and mini). I can find ones like this for the MacBooks with 2 USB C ports but none for the 12" MacBook. Does anyone know of an adapter like this? Thanks [link] [comments]
Posted: 07 Oct 2021 08:33 AM PDT So I have a Windows laptop right now and I want to move to a Macbook. Moving to a Macbook will also complete the Apple ecosystem for me. I can buy an MBA M1 now (not buying pro because for my usage MBA will suffice). But a friend told me that I should wait for the next processor to come out and then buy that. There are no terrible issues with my current laptop other than the fact that it is pretty damn old and struggles to run a lot of stuff. (It's an i5 8th Gen with 8gigs of RAM and an old HDD) So what do you think? Should I buy an MBA M1 now or wait till whenever Apple releases the next one? I can technically push on for a while with my current laptop but I really *need* to change it, [link] [comments]
Can't output to 1680x1050 resolution using USB-C to HDMI cable. Posted: 07 Oct 2021 12:58 PM PDT Hi guys, have any of you figured out how to output to a 1680x1050 resolution? For some reason my Macbook doesn't show me the option no matter what I do. [link] [comments]
Posted: 07 Oct 2021 01:45 AM PDT Hello :) New mac user here. I have been windows user for many years. With windows i'm used to shut down the computer at the night. But i have heard that is not the case with mac, or am i wrong? Since i got my macbook i always shut it down at night, should i keep doing it or put it to sleep instead? Does shutting it down damage any component in long term? [link] [comments]
How liquid resistant is the MacBook air m1? Posted: 07 Oct 2021 11:31 AM PDT I accidently just spilled some MTN dew energy drink on the left side of my keyboard and the speaker. It wasn't a whole lot and I instantly dried it with my sleeve and shut it down. Haven't really done anything with it since because I don't want it to short. It was maybe a spoonful of liquid. The only reason it's urgent to me is I have a presentation for class and I have to use my laptop in about 2 hours lol. Are these things fairly resistant to liquid or should I not use it for 48 hours? Posted: 07 Oct 2021 10:44 AM PDT Hey so the light on my touchbar died without warning. The touchbar itself still works, when I touch it still does things however I can't see what they are. I tried some of the things youtube videos and they didn't work. The people at the genius bar said it'll take 3-5 business days just for a diagnosis but I need this MacBook for work! Plus I'll be going out of town for 3 weeks so it's not really an option right now. Would backing everything up and doing a factory reset work? It's more just annoying but I really want this thing fixed. Thanks! [link] [comments]

Find my still on after reseting the computer Posted: 07 Oct 2021 07:01 AM PDT Hello, about a week ago I bought a used 2020 Intel MacBook Air. The seller erased it and everything works fine (I can log into my apple id and icloud without a problem). I also work at an Apple store and have access to GSX2 where I can check if find my device is enabled on a certain machine. The problem is this MacBook I bought still shows as if Find My is turned on on this Mac. Even thought I enabled and disabled it in settings. Is it possible that previous owners Find My is still enabled? And how is this possible? [link] [comments]

How to keep MacBook running with the display off - M1 MBP. Posted: 07 Oct 2021 05:43 AM PDT Hey, I've been trying for solutions all night and now I'm here because I'm frustrated haha I'm trying to let my Lightroom CC upload/cloud sync but I don't want to leave my display on in case of burn in. I've left it about 8 times today (without being plugged in to power) and every time the syncing has stopped at some point. I tried a few different things without power like hot corners and stuff but not success. I'm not sure what best settings to have to achieve this are - I think I'm just missing clicking something? Maybe I should have it plugged into power? Side question: does turning down the brightness all the way down turn the display off. I guess I'm just concerned about screen burn in more than anything. M1 MB-Pro and Display cable issues Posted: 07 Oct 2021 01:54 AM PDT I have a new Macbook Pro with two USB-C/DisplayPort connectors, and a DELL 34" monitor with hub and power capabilities. What I want to do is run a cable from the the MacBook to the monitor to have power supplied to the Mac, display on the monitor and use the the USB hub capabilities of the monitor. If I use the short (1m) cable that came with the Dell Monitor - this all works as expected. But I really want a slightly longer cable, 2m would be ideal. The 1m cable works well, but it's really too short for my desk. None of the vast array of various cables I have seem to work. I purchased an expensive (over 50 GBP!) 2m Thunderbolt/USB-C cable and this doesn't work either. This is a StarTech.com Thunderbolt 3 (40Gbps) USB-C cable. It provides power but no monitor is recognised on the Mac. If I revert to the short 1m Dell cable it all does work. I could run a longer 2m USB-C to HDMI cable but that wont provide power or the USB hub. Any suggestions welcome [link] [comments]
