TIL in iOS 15 Safari, long press the aA button to toggle reader view. Posted: 11 Oct 2021 05:44 AM PDT You don't need to click and browse through a long menu for it. I find it very useful when browsing at night. [link] [comments]

To anyone looking to try out android, an agnostic platform user's perspective Posted: 11 Oct 2021 07:31 AM PDT After updating my iPad to iPadOS 15 this week, I'm always reminded that I have multiple devices to compare it to. My work computer is a Mac OS, my daily driver laptop is Windows 10, and my main daily driver is Android. I've been using Android for well over a decade. I have no plans on switching. But I can't help but see the shortcomings between Android and iOS. I know some of you might be device curious and want to know what it's like on the other side. This is my perspective. Honestly, if you're happy with iOS, I don't think Android is compelling enough to switch. iOS used to lag behind feature wise, but the gradual iterations have improved the overall experience. Android still is a nice piece of software. But its main problem is that it doesn't age well. Don't listen to whatever any enthusiast online says, Android phones still lag. It usually doesn't happen until after a year or so, but it's there. And it'll cripple your phone to the point where it will freeze when you need it, like during car navigation or making a payment at a store. No, switching to a Google branded phone won't fix this. My last phone was a Nexus 6. Same problem. It got old, and broke down performance wise. My Nexus did this to me while I was vacationing in a foreign country. I had to use my iPad as a backup. And most of the tricks to fix this issue either aren't effective or aren't realistically available to the masses. The most common one is doing a factory reset. This alleviates the problem for a few days before the problem creeps back. And it will creep back. And flashing the phone has become so difficult that it's on the same level as adding Cydia to your iPhone. It's not as simple as grabbing software off the internet and letting it run in the background. I bought my iPad in 2017. It behaves the exact same way I remember it did on day one. The frequent updates are a bonus, keeping it fresh. It so far has outlasted two of my phones, since it appears I'll need to update my current phone by the end of the year. I've never had a problem with it. I don't plan on switching to an iPhone. My life is locked in Android, and it's not worth it for me. But for any of you contemplating on switching entirely, just keep in mind that those talking about their shiny new android devices might either have the means to swap out every year or aren't aware about the lag until it's too late. iOS 15 - Notification management on lock-screen Posted: 11 Oct 2021 03:36 AM PDT Have I lost these things with iOS15 on the lock screen?…. Swiping a reminder and clicking 'mark as complete' Swiping a WhatsApp message and clicking view to show more of the message? Swiping a WhatsApp message and replying on lock screen. … I used these so much!! I like iOS15 and the options for notifications, but not sure why they would lose these functions? Posted: 11 Oct 2021 08:39 AM PDT I'm not sure if it started before or after I updated to iOS 15 but I'm not getting notifications for a lot of apps. Is there a fix for this? I have a iPhone X. [link] [comments]

How to DELETE the Apple Music widget from my stack? Posted: 11 Oct 2021 07:53 AM PDT On my home screen I have 1 large widget stack. For some reason, the Apple Music widget keeps adding itself to the stack and taking over. I'd tried deleting it 4-5 times now and it keeps popping back up. How do I kill this thing? I don't want or need it. Is this a known bug? [link] [comments]
Posted: 11 Oct 2021 04:04 AM PDT I have an old iPhone 6s. While I was going to upgrade the system from iOS 14.4 to iOS 14.8, I found out that I'm only able to upgrade to iOS 15.0.1. Therefore, I would like to ask if someone also owns an iPhone 6s? Does it become laggy and buggy after the update? Will it affect the performance of the phone? Thanks. (I will be still using it mainly before my iPhone 13 Pro cases are shipped to my home) [link] [comments]
Which version of iOS should i downgrade? 12 or 13? Posted: 11 Oct 2021 07:18 AM PDT My iPhone 6s is 16GB, running iOS 15.0.1 Now I wouldn't care too much about it if not because I want to install some games on my phone to chilling (my jam is mostly RPG games, so Genshin or Honkai, along that line) The problem is, just the System files alone takes up 1/2 of my space, and even with the whole thing wiped (as if it's factory fresh), or constantly restarts every 3 hours or so, it'll leaving only ~8GB (overhead included) of free spaces. Genshin requires at least 8GB of spaces, but i want to compensate for overheads so i need 10GB of free spaces. I have 2 options, either I take iOS 12 but I'll sacrifices Dark Mode, or I take iOS 13 but with slightly less overhead space (but I'll get dark mode, and as someone who uses the phone mainly at night, it's kinda a big deal to me). I tried googling which is better but the rabbit hole went kinda deep with little to no useful informations. [link] [comments]
Screen brightness is dimming by itself (auto brightness is disabled) Posted: 10 Oct 2021 03:55 PM PDT This is driving me insane! My phone brightness levels are getting toned down as if auto brightness is enabled, but it's not. I keep having to turn it to max (100%) even during direct sunlight because my screen is unreadable, it's too dark. It drops about 25% brightness at complete random while the phone is asleep. Again, auto brightness is disabled, and I have tried re-enabling it and disabling it again, rebooting my phone, and reinstalling my iOS. Can anyone help? iOS 15, iPhone 8 Plus. [link] [comments]
Posted: 11 Oct 2021 07:06 AM PDT I was browsing snapchat and all of a sudden my iPhone 11 shutdown and when I went to turn it back on it started into a bootloop. I've tried to update and restore, and recovery restore. No luck. Any idea what I should do? [link] [comments]

Posted: 10 Oct 2021 06:53 PM PDT I have recently purchased the new iPhone 13 pro and already have battery problems. A few days ago I noticed that it said Twitter was running in the background for 12 hours and I didn't even have Twitter installed. I think there is a problem with my phone or rogue apps are causing this to happen. I have already reset my phone to factory new and it HAS NOT fixed the problem. I am now worried for my phone. Does anyone know the fix?!?! [link] [comments]
Alarm Clock App Recommendation Posted: 11 Oct 2021 05:25 AM PDT Hey guys, I would like an alarm clock app that allows me to schedule alarms based on actual dates. I work from home on different schedules each week. So I don't want to remember switching my alarms around every Sunday. I want to set it all up each time the schedule is released. I don't care if it's free or paid honestly. Thanks [link] [comments]
Help - Unknown Accessory Detected Near You Posted: 10 Oct 2021 03:22 PM PDT Hi all. I hope this is the right place to ask - I am more than a little concerned right now and could use a little advice. My girlfriend and I went to have dinner at a friend's place close to the main train station of the city we live in. We left at about 23:00 or so and as per usual I took her back to hers, then went home to my place. Cue me looking at my phone and seeing an alert from Find My saying that an unknown accessory was caught travelling with me - with a perfect tracker from where we left to her place. Stops after that (back to mine). It is currently 00:20 for reference. I can't see any additional information regarding the device itself - says the server is down. She has an iPhone, iPad, and AirPods, but we travelled from my place to our friend's before then with no issues, so I don't think that caused any. Plus my phone should "know" all of her devices anyway. She is going to search her bike first thing tomorrow and is not living alone. I saw one other reddit post on iphonehelp about this, but unsure of the correlation between their and my experiences. Has anyone else had this happen to them? Many thanks in advance. iPhone apps won’t open or crash randomly Posted: 11 Oct 2021 04:03 AM PDT Hi all, Hoping someone can help. For a few months now the apps on my phone (a different app every time) will randomly decide not to open. Sometimes the app opens quickly and then immediately crashes. Sometimes, if I wait a little, it then lets me open it, other times I have to restart my phone to open the app again. Also, apps will randomly crash for no reason at all. Originally, I was also unable to update my iPhone or back it up. I was able to finally do both these things by both resetting my iPhone to factory settings and not restoring from Backup (to see if there was an error in one of my backups). Has anyone encountered this before and is there any fix? I can't think of what else I could do and I'm wondering if it must be a hardware issue? I would hate to get a new phone only to find out the same issues are happening. When I factory reset my phone, the only thing that saved was what was saved to iCloud (contacts, notes, etc.)- nothing I would think would impact this but I could be wrong? [link] [comments] |
