    Antivirus Software?

    To connect to my school wifi it checks if you have antivirus installed and won't connect you without it, anyone have ideas how to get around this? Or is there any antivirus software for mac that doesn't slowdown your computer way too much. I'm on M1 if that makes a difference

    MBA battery Service Recommended few weeks after installing Aldente

    I have Macbook Air 2017, I got it back in Sep 2019 and I've been using it daily since then, few months ago I downloaded Aldente and after few weeks the service recommended msg appeared. These are the battery information I could get.:

    Health Information:

    Cycle Count: 256

    Condition: Service Recommended

    Can that be due to Aldente? I am getting a Macbook Air M1 soon, and I dunno wether Aldente will hurt my battery in the long run.

    What do you guys think? is it safe to install Aldente on my new Macbook once I get it? or should I just stick to apple's battery optimization feature?

    Big Sur vs Catalina

    So I have a MacBook Pro i5 the latest before m1s were released. Its still running Catalina which I'm happy with. I was wondering if Big Sur is better than Catalina in terms of performance and battery life. Im still unsure about upgrading.

    Monterey to Big Sur downgrade. Is there a simple way to do this?

    I'm noticing a few bugs on Monterey and was wondering if there was a simple way to downgrade back to Big Sur? Unfortunately, I don't have a Big Sur time machine back up. Only a Monterey, dumb I know.

    When clicking a link in Gmail for the Reddit email daily summary, a new tab opens with 'Safari could not connect to server'.

    This only occurs for links to Reddit and I don't know what I need to change. Any other link in any other email (via Gmail) works just fine. Only affects Reddit links, specifically 'clickredditmail.com'

    If I go to Reddit directly, no issue.

    Apple passwords 'app' on iPhone - I have to search for paypal password every time I want to use PayPal, but not for other credentials

    Hi, not sure if that title quite articulates the problem, but in more words...

    Whenever I need to use a user/password combination on my iphone XR (iOS 14.7.1), the Passwords app (Settings) pops up at the bottom of my screen and offers the credentials to log in, as you would expect.

    But if I need to pay for something with PayPal and my login details are also stored in Passwords, unlike other websites/apps, while the Passwords setting 'pops up' at the bottom I have to then go and search for PayPal, its not offered straight up for me to select. I have to type in Pay... and then it is displayed for me to use. Why are the credentials not automatically there for me to select (to fill in the password)? Is there something I need to configure in the password Settings?

    Startup : having some people working with mac and some with PC = bad idea ?

    Hi, my friend is starting a beverage cans printing company

    I am a graphic designer and he hired me. The company will not offer ''design'' services. We will basically receive clients design and print them on multiple aluminium cans formats. (beer, wine, soft drinks, kombucha, etc) So we will be using illustrator and acrobat a lot.

    I have always been working with a Mac and the web/design agency i was before was 100% mac. (i guess 99% of web/design/multimedia companies are mac anyway)

    But my friend is responsable of the startup budget and he find apple products way too expensive. (he is a ''sales'' guy, no design background at all so he does not understand the advantage of mac..)

    So would it be really bad if 2-3 people in the start-up work with mac and 5-6 other with windows pc ?

    (knowing we will be communicating a lot of files all together via our computers)..

    *Just the fact of being able to airdrop to some people and not being able with others pisses me off haha. Thanks !

    I have playlists of songs on my old windows laptop that I used to add to my iPhone. Now I have a macbook. Can I transfer those playlists to my MacBook?

    It seems like it wants me to completely re-add all the songs on the MacBook. Its kinda annoying as there are like hundreds of songs ive picked to put on there. Yes, I know im a boomer and most people listen to Spotify or something lol. Thanks!

    Some texts not showing up messages

    They are syncing, as I can delete certain messages on my iPhone and they will immediately disappear on mac os messages, but others fail to show up on the MacBook pro. Meanwhile, they are all syncing to my iPad. I have checked all the settings, and logged out of icloud on both devices and restarted.

    Very odd it is selective with only a few messages.

    Sidecar black safari window...

    How do I restore the Documents folder in Finder to On My Mac only?

    When initially setting up my MacBook Air and perusing the Finder preferences a popup asked me if I'd like to share the Documents folder to all iCloud devices and I selected yes.

    I no longer want to share this folder to all my devices, and simply want these documents stored on the MacBook only. How do I do this?

    How to extend the time until MacOS screenshot preview appears?

    When taking a screenshot MacOS shows a little preview (floating thumbnail) bottom right for a short amount of time. If you drag this to whatever application, the screenshot is being used without it being saved on your computer. This is super handy, but the delay until the preview disappears is very short. So if you don't have the exact page in your application open, the preview will be gone before you can drag it into your document.

    How can this time be extended? Or how can I keep the panel open until I explicitly close it?
