Posted: 12 Aug 2021 05:25 PM PDT First, I am not asking for help or technical support. I am just asking for your opinion. I have an iPhone and always have it with me. I am planning to get an Apple watch later this year. I will have to decide between the GPS only or the GPS+cellular versions. I am interested in any opinions about the cellular version and if it is worth the additional cost and monthly fee (if any) for anybody who has an iPhone with them at all times. [link] [comments]
Was eager to switch to an iPhone, after the #spyPhone announcement I am absolutely lost Posted: 13 Aug 2021 09:38 AM PDT Hi, earlier this year I got myself an M1 Mac and I was really happy with the whole platform, the refinements and how well it works. Also lately I've been doing less and less things on my phone up to a point where I do not require sideloading or any form of customization. Naturally, I considered switching to an iPhone and after playing with my friends' 12 and my mom's SE2020, I was pretty much dead set on getting one, especially after the Do-Not-Track announcement. However, I very much do NOT like what has been going on for the last week even though I don't use iCloud whatsoever (but I planned to once I get an iPhone). I have a Pixel 3 whose support ends this October for both OS and security, the battery has also seen better days and the screen is starting to become a pain with low brightness and awful black crushing. Now I'm really split on privacy. On one hand, I use the full Google suite (though with tracking and ads disabled as much as possible) so all of my pics are already being scanned (and not just pics probably), so this hashing system wouldn't realistically be any more threatening to me. Otoh, it is a massive local privacy risk and who knows what the EU politicians will come up with after this becomes more public and set-in. Privacy focus was one of my top reasons to get an iPhone, now it's gone. What do you iPeople think? Is there going to be any reason to keep using an iPhone? Is it possible to use an iPhone without iCloud and back up locally like I back up my Mac to a hard drive? [link] [comments]
I'd switch back to iPhone if they added one feature Posted: 13 Aug 2021 09:12 AM PDT Texting from your computer. But not just from a Macbook or other apple device, ANY computer. I want a web-based equivalent of messages.google.com. Then I'd switch back. It's been about 4 years since I owned an iPhone. I loved iMessage for the desktop. But when my Macbook broke down and couldn't afford a new one I switched to a Chromebook... then switched to a Pixel... then messages.google.com came out and it was game over. I've thought about how it would be fun to own an iPhone again, but as someone who works from a computer all day, I'm not sure I want to pick my phone up to text people back each time. Hands-on keyboard, texting screenshots from my computer, etc. This ONE feature is holding me back from switching. I wonder if it's ever going to happen. I wonder if any other iPhone users who use Chrome OS or Windows hurt the same. [link] [comments]
How often does Apple refresh its refurbished phones? Posted: 12 Aug 2021 04:50 PM PDT I want to buy IPhone 11 128 GB refurbished directly from Apple for $550 but it's out of stock. Seems like a better deal then anything else. Anyone know how often they update stock? I need 128 GB and a somewhat future proof phone [link] [comments] |
