    New iPhone user here 😃 I just bought my friend's iPhone 6. I told him to reset it for me but we both are fearing about carrier lock. We both live in same country but different carrier.

    Is there any chance that It'll be carrier locked if I reset the phone?

    When receiver replies does everyone in list get message, or just you?

    What other message apps can do this? How to hide the numbers that mesage is sent to?

    What is the swipe down for?

    When I swipe my finger down to the bottom in any app, it brings the top half of the apps screen down to the middle. The top half remains blank/black. What use is this?

    Replacement for Google Cardboard Camera app?

    I recently upgraded to iOS 14, which broke the Google Cardboard Camera app. I can still take 360° panoramic photos, but when I try to view them, the picture spins wildly out of control.

    Google has deprecated the app and the technology used to build it. They have a new XR plugin available on GitHub, but that doesn't help me. I don't want to build an app, I just want to use one that someone else has built.

    I've downloaded a number of VR viewers, but none of them do what the Cardboard Camera app did. I want to put my phone in my Cardboard stereoscope viewer and view my static 360° panoramic photos in VR. I'm not interested in VR video or VR gaming; I'm not interested in browsing other people's content. Can you recommend an app for me? Thanks!

    How to nest existing photo albums into folders?

    I know how to create an album within a folder. But I have no idea how to nest an existing album into a folder. There's no clear way to do this that I've seen, and a quick Google search has yielded nothing. Can anyone here please help me out?

    Is there a way to regain Face ID to an app after a “failed attempts exceeded” notification?

    I've been using Face ID on the Plum app, but yesterday at work I tried it a couple of times and I guess I didn't have my mask pulled down far enough (although I was sure that I did) becasue it failed. After the third failure I got the notificaiton above and Face ID was disabled.

    I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling the app, as well as turning Face ID off and then on again in the app's settings, and even resetting Face ID completely. No matter what, whenever I open Plum it's only got the option to put in a PIN. Plum support have said it's a feature of ios and there's nothing they can do, and the Apple Community help says that you need to contact in-app support.

    Is there anything else I can try? It makes no sense for the feature to be permanenetly disabled because of a couple of failed attempts.

    How can I manage business contacts contacting me at all hours and still let text from personal contacts through?

    I have a few freelance clients who aren't adhering to agreed-upon boundaries for texting me after hours or on weekends.

    I have enabled the IMessage/Iphone do not disturb feature to be turned on manually and I've created an auto response text that says I'm unavailable, however, this goes to anyone who texts me, not just the specific clients I'd like to have it sent to.

    As well, I still get the red dot badge notification on my Imessage app when the biz contacts text me ...

    Is there a way to remove all notifications on Imessage from certain contacts and only send an autoresponse to certain contacts (without dumping all my personal contacts into, say, the "favorites" category)?

    Is there a third party app that I can run imessage through that has more robust features that would allow me to set DND and auto response for categories of contacts (business vs personal, for instance)?

    Since the last update (yesterday) my menu has completely changed. Most apps are on the "other" folder whereas they were on the different categories before the update. Anyway I can change/fix this/arrange the apps the way I want to?

    iOS’s photo scanning: is a similar scanning solution available for end users?

    Let me explain this post's title.

    I've read through Apple's technical documentation on how they will be scanning for CSAM content by performing multiple hashes over blocks in an image, running them through a neural engine, etc. such that a new "hash" is generated that will match the "hash" of another image even if it has been slightly cropped, resized, is turned to grayscale, is a different format, etc.

    I'm wondering if a similar software solution exists out there for we end-users to use to find "looks-like-a-duplicate" images on our own computers. I no doubt have a number of photos (family, sports, whatever) that are not exact duplicates of one another but are duplicates to the eye that I'd like to clean up. Does such a product exist to help find seemingly "duplicate" images despite size/format/etc differences?

    Wrong phone number for Wallet verification

    So, I am trying to add another card to my wallet, the problem is that even though I have my phone number set in the app, when I click on verification of that new card I get a prompt that a code was sent to another phone number which isn't mine, anyone have an idea on how to fix this bug?

    I'm wondering what people's preferred map/navigation app is these days. I've previously been a Google Maps fan, but I feel like they've fallen behind and some of their recent updates have made it not so good. I also feel like their acquisition of Waze has been detrimental to both products (I have other dislikes of Waze, too, but that's a different story). I've been playing more with Apple Maps lately and it's gotten better, but I'd like to know what anyone's fave is and why. Thanks!

    Email Apps

    Are there any email apps for iOS with desktop-quality features? I'm trying to help my father streamline the administrative work he's putting into his business, but he does all his correspondence off his iPad and I keep finding out that features that would help him aren't available in the Gmail/Outlook mobile apps.

    The biggest thing so far is email templates - he's drafting things from scratch that he doesn't need to be, and he has some things saved in Notes etc to copy over but that's a pain in the ass.

    Another thing is contact groups - being able to send an email to all his contractors, or all his clients, or whatever custom batch of recipients, without having to add each address manually every time.

    This one's minor and he doesn't care but for me it really just added insult to injury - Gmail and Outlook mobile can't include a logo image in an email signature? Really?

    I'm sure other things are going to crop up as I go along, so anything with a generally robust feature set as opposed to a narrow fix for one or two of these issues would be great. Free is great but paid is fine, and he's currently using a mix of Outlook and Gmail anyway so he's not married to anything he currently has set up.

    Enabling Picture in Picture on Facebook messenger and WhatsApp?

    Hi guys! I just switched over from android and I cannot for the life of me figure out how to enable Picture in Picture on Facebook messenger and WhatsApp. It did it automatically on my android. Picture in Picture mode is enabled in my settings but I'm having trouble finding anything specific to Facebook and what's app. It's essential to my job that I be able to see the rest of my phone while in video calls with someone so any help would be greatly appreciated!!!
