Need an understanding iCloud and finding a solution to storage issue. Posted: 17 Aug 2021 09:46 PM PDT So I have a fairly easy but misunderstanding situation here. My girlfriend used to have a iPhone XS with 256gb of storage and used an apple ID that everyone in her family uses. Whenever I bought her a new phone the new phone is trying to pull all the data from her old phone and keep it local on the new iPhone. I thought huh that's odd let me make sure that all of the iCloud photos and other options are enabled so that she can transfer everything but it stays in the cloud so it doesn't use any of her local storage on her new phone. My issue is that I cannot find a way for it to do that AT ALL. I have tried back up then restoring from backup and the same issue occurs. The only way for it to work is to skip set up and log in after that is done. Now the issue is that her messages will not pull over or she is getting messages from mom and dad since they use the same Apple ID. Would it be easier for me to make her a new Apple ID and just back up everything and do a transfer like that? [link] [comments] |

Posted: 17 Aug 2021 08:23 PM PDT I've run into this problem a couple of times now… An SSD causes problems when it is mounted. Sometimes it causes the entire operating system to freeze. At times I am able to access the disc and disk utility, but disk utility cannot eject. Problem is a couple of times I've been able to force eject the disc and repair it… I think I had to reformat once. But I remember it was very tricky to figure out how to get it to force object as none of the normal methods worked. Terminal diskutil unmount does not work. Thoughts? If I can't solve this I'm gonna have to consider the ssd bricked and maybe see about the warranty. But I suspect there's another way. This is an iMac Pro running Mojave. Thanks! [link] [comments] |
Someone else connected to my Apple ID. Posted: 17 Aug 2021 12:18 PM PDT I just got a pop-up notification saying someone on another phone has logged into my FaceTime/Apple ID account and I don't know what to do. In the settings it doesn't show a 4th phone connected but why would I get that pop-up if there wasn't? [link] [comments] |
How do I get tech support in the specific format that I want? Posted: 17 Aug 2021 10:01 PM PDT I feel like I used to be able to select the issue I'm having and then the Apple site would give me options to call, text, email, or make a Genius Bar reservation. Now, no matter what option I select, it only offers live calls, which is the only one of those options that gives me extreme anxiety. I would gladly text, email, or even go in person, but the last time I had to talk to an Apple customer support agent over the phone, the call lasted for over an hour and then I cried myself to sleep. Is there like a secret link or something that will allow me to text or book a Genius Bar appointment with a support person?? I am so confused and so tired. [link] [comments] |

My IPhone 7 is being weird, I want to know how to fix it Posted: 17 Aug 2021 09:10 PM PDT YouTube will crash all the time, Reddit will crash all the time, games will crash all the time, I can't start videos on crunchy roll and I'm missing some notifications from messages. [link] [comments] |
Messages on MacOS are constantly messed up Posted: 17 Aug 2021 01:13 PM PDT So I have a strange issue I can't figure out, so here I am hoping someone has an idea. iMessage on my Mac is completely borked (see pictures). Interestingly, only my messages show up as grayed with sort of a white striketrough. Incoming messages are fine. I can still use messages and text just fine, and my new messages end up grayed out too. Person I'm talking to receives them just fine. The only way to "fix" this is to manually use "synchronize" in the settings. Then, it will come back after a while, usually after computer was put in sleep. My other mac, set up from the same backup, doesn't have this issue. So far, I've tried logging in/out, deleting the cache. I am at wits end here! Anyone has an idea? [link] [comments] |
Having trouble with Safari but not with other browsers Posted: 17 Aug 2021 08:06 PM PDT When I open up some web pages, images and normal functions don't load in Safari. However, if I go to the same exact website using Firefox, Chrome or any other browser, images and normal functions work as expected. I have these issues with Safari only. Especially buttons like adding stuff to carts and whatnot. these buttons don't work and don't do anything while when I open other browsers they work as expected. I have been having these issues with my brand new MacBook Pro M1, on 11.5.2 as of the time of this posting, even when it was on 11.5.1. I don't know if this is because of certain settings that I have not set properly, if it is an ongoing bug that Apple still hasn't fixed, or if I should just be using another browser and deal with the faster battery drain when using Chrome or Firefox. Wireless charging stopped working, fixed with restart Posted: 17 Aug 2021 08:02 PM PDT Something really wierd just happened. I've been using wireless charging on my iPhone XR since I got it without issues, but today it just decided to stop working. I could only get it to work again by restarting it. [link] [comments] |
Posted: 17 Aug 2021 08:01 PM PDT Hello everyone, I recently decided to backup my wife's iPhone onto her Mac so we could do a factory reset and restore her data. Once I completed backing up the iPhone and reseting the iPhone, I tried to restore my backup via Finder on her Mac. I am unable to restore the backup (from 30 minutes ago) because there is "not enough space on the iPhone". How can I go about fixing this? Thanks. [link] [comments] |

Posted: 17 Aug 2021 07:52 PM PDT Hello all. I am having an issue with iMessage on my new MBA with the M1. Essentially, I can send texts sms messages and iMessage fine but if I try to attach a picture or a document it fails every time. I tried on my wife's intel 2020 MBA and I don't have this problem so I am guessing it's isolated to the M1 models. Any ideas? I feel like I have tried everything from signing out and signing back in etc. [link] [comments] |
Posted: 17 Aug 2021 07:52 PM PDT I found one of the nicer apple chargers plugged into one of our sport buildings at school, the only thing is it had been there for a few days and had been rained on. I wouldn't think much of it, especially since it charges, but my friend made a joke about it catching on fire and now i'm worried. It probably a low chance but my anxiety is causing me to fret. So is there any possible chance the charger being plugged into a power strip after being in the rain so much can lead to a fire? Please DNI if you choose to belittle me. [link] [comments] |

Apple Macbook Pro A1445 repair advice: Posted: 17 Aug 2021 07:03 PM PDT My MacBook Pro Retina turns on, but both the display, display backlight, keyboard backlight, and the external monitor feed don't work. What could be the problem? Had the computer at a repair shop, and he said it wasn't the display because of the keyboard backlight and external monitor feed not working either. GPU then? GPU cooling? SIM cards don’t work on my iPhone Posted: 17 Aug 2021 03:15 PM PDT I got two SIM cards from t mobile and tried putting them both in an iPhone 5 but neither of them work, it either says no service or it says t mobile with 1 bar or 0 bars then changes to no service, what can I do? [link] [comments] |
Swipe down on iPhone X not working Posted: 17 Aug 2021 03:11 PM PDT My iPhone X has suddenly stopped letting me swipe down to access my notifications and it takes multiple attempts to see my control centre and for 'tap to wake' to work. I've restarted my phone multiple times and gone through my settings, I don't know what to do now. [link] [comments] |
Recent iPhone photos missing from Mac photos app Posted: 17 Aug 2021 06:54 PM PDT I have a mid 2015 MacBook Pro with Big Sur 11.5.1, and an iPhone 11 with iOS 14.7.1. I had iCloud Photos enabled on both my phone and Mac for a time, and they synced nicely. After updating to Big Sur (I had High Sierra for several years) I checked my Mac's photo app and have no new photos past May 8, 2021, even though I take dozens of pics every week on my phone and they DO sync to the iCloud browser. When I looked into the Mac photo preferences, I saw that the iCloud photos sync was unchecked, so I rechecked it, but instead of importing my iPhone photos, it just tried to upload the 5,679 photos that are already on my Mac (which are already on iCloud). I disabled iCloud again, because I didn't want them to be uploaded twice. I also have Photo Stream enabled on both my phone and Mac, but its folder is empty on my Mac and completely absent on my phone. I don't know what the problem is. Ultimately, I just want to be able to see the exact same photos set on my phone and on my Mac, and be able to access them offline. I would get help from Apple support but I have phone call anxiety I can't seem a find a way to talk to someone over chat, like I used to be able to do. [link] [comments] |
