Trouble with keys on Macbook air but zero liquid damage -- what could cause this? Posted: 30 Aug 2021 10:48 PM PDT So I lost my "a" and most number keys through zero a while back and have no idea why. I assumed it was liquid damage even though I've never had a spill. The "a" key itself feels stubborn when I press it unlike other keys, but cleaning it doesn't seem to help. Weird thing is, I'm starting to lose my end quote key and my delete key now. I'd think if it were liquid damage, keys in between like return and forward slash would also be a problem. I still have no knowledge of liquid damage, don't keep it around my laptop and no one else uses it. Could something else account for such random keys starting to fail? Is there a way to address it? Posted: 30 Aug 2021 10:29 PM PDT Hey guys! Newbie here. I just found my 3Gs after years of storage and was hoping for a Vanilla method of downloading old apps besides the "download older version of this app" option, that anyone can help me with. Particularly legacy games such as Angry Birds, Fruit ninja, Jetpackjoyride, because i've tried what i could and still failed to download a compatible version of them. Thanks for any suggestions/ help provided! [link] [comments] |
Posted: 30 Aug 2021 10:13 PM PDT I noticed this in my screen time on my iPhone settings. Apparently, I've used bnc.it for 24 hours today. I have no idea what it is and It just shows a 'B' as the icon. I have checked and closed every app. When I try to add a limit, it says "8 Failed Passcode Attempts, retry in 15 minutes", but not once have I entered my passcode. Am I being hacked or is this a glitch? [link] [comments] |
Water damage iPhone 11 Pro Max Posted: 30 Aug 2021 06:20 PM PDT Has anyone dealt with their phone accidentally being submerged in water. My camera has I would say "condensation" on my lens! And it will go slightly away and then come back :( does this fix on its own! Or will I be camera-less!! [link] [comments] |
Trading iPhone 11 Pro Max for iPhone 12 Pro Max with att $700 credit Posted: 30 Aug 2021 09:34 PM PDT Hi, I currently have the iPhone 11 Pro Max. ATT is offering a $700 trade-in value for it. I am planning getting the iPhone 13 when it comes out. Do you think that I will get more trade-in value once the iPhone 13 comes out if I get the iPhone 12 Pro Max with ATT than just sticking with the iPhone 11 Pro max? [link] [comments] |
MacBook will connect to Wifi but not the internet… Posted: 30 Aug 2021 05:04 PM PDT We recently got a MacBook Air and when ever we try to connect to our wifi, it still says we have no internet, we have tried to look up solutions and haven't found anything. My phones hotspot works well and it connects to the internet just fine, but our wifi won't work! Has this happened to anyone else? [link] [comments] |

LIGHTENING FAST REPAIR OR DID THEY JUST NOT FIX IT Posted: 30 Aug 2021 08:27 PM PDT hey guys I dropped off my iPhone 12pro around at the apple store around 5 pm to get it serviced because the charging port was not charging anymore. They told me that my procedure was under Apple's limited warranty and will take overnight so I left my phone there with the technicians. two hours later at 7:15 pm, I checked the repair status on Apple's site they said it's ready for pick up. The weird part is that they started the repair at 7:15 how is it possible that they fix my phone in under a minute. this is what shows on the repair status. I remember her telling Me that what they were gonna do is take the whole screen off including the sensors and just stick it on a new housing along with new hardware instead of replacing the charging port. I'm over here sitting her like it took less than a minute? [link] [comments] |
iPhone 8 Plus Don't Have Sound on Incoming Call, Text or Taking Pictures Posted: 30 Aug 2021 08:14 PM PDT I'm having problems with my iPhone 8 Plus (iOS 14.7.1), it doesn't play a ringtone/sound (only vibrates) when there is incoming call, incoming text, or taking a screenshot or pictures. And yet I can play music, podcast, or even play videos (Youtube/Instagram) with sound. It's like it is always in Do Not Disturb or Silent mode. I checked under Settings, Sound & Haptics, it can play the Ringtone & other sounds set on it. I also checked Do Not Disturb is Off. Under Settings, Phone, Announce Calls is Always, Silence Unknown Callers is Off. Hope someone can help. I don't know where else to check. Could there be a setting that will enable the sound back? I already got a few missed call because of this. Appreciate any help or suggestions. [link] [comments] |

Iphone 7 suddenly dies when unplugged. Posted: 30 Aug 2021 07:45 PM PDT My Iphone 7 is currently at 50% battery capacity and running on IOS 14.4.2 i recently had it repaired for a charging issue. It was not coming on at all or coming on and only charging to 1% or so. The repairman did get the device to turn back on but now it suddenly shuts off just like that regardless of the battery level. I constantly have it plugged in charging and even while plugged in it dies every 2-10 minutes. Any advice on the issue would be greatly appreciated. [link] [comments] |

Problems migrating from 2014 MacBook to 24" 2021 M1 iMac Posted: 30 Aug 2021 06:20 PM PDT A friend had a 2014 MacBook suddenly go dark. All he had was a black screen. Multiple attempts at rebooting did nothing. It seemed dead. He took it to the nearest Apple store and to buy a new 2012 24" M1 iMac. When he opened the 2014 MacBook to show them the black screen issue it suddenly sprang to life. Not wanting to trust it after this, he went ahead and purchased the new 2021 24" M1 iMac. When he asked if he could get them to migrate everything from the MacBook to the new iMac, he was told that they did not do that. So he brought them both back home to do it himself. He had a good backup (using Time Machine I think) of his MacBook and used it with the Migration app in the M1 to migrate his stuff over. But then the M1 started having issues. The mouse would not work and the WiFi would not work. Over the past week, he has had 5 Apple techs look at it (including one non-Apple tech at a place called Simply Mac after the tech at the Apple store gave up and sent him there). None of them could solve the mouse or WiFi problems. One even told him that he (the tech) could wipe the Mac and start over but that he may lose some data - that "that sometimes happens" (I think that was the Simply Mac guy). Then he called me today to see if I had any ideas before returning the M1. I connected a USB mouse to the M1 so that we could do a little something. I went tried these instructions on resetting the WiFi , then these instructions on Flushing the DNS but still no luck with the WiFi. He then told me that one of the techs told him to drag and drop the Norton 360 app into the trash and then empty the trash. Having been in IT for a while (not much on Macs though) I didn't think that sounded wise. So I rebooted in safe mode (where WiFi works) and re-installed Norton 360 so that we could uninstall it the Norton way . I also updated his iMac's apps at this time. Rebooting after uninstalling Norton 360 according to their instructions we found we were still stuck with no WiFi. Safe mode has WiFi. But his account on the iMac does not. I tried resetting the WiFi and DNS again after the Norton 360 removal and it did not help. I tried running network diagnostics on the M1 and it gave a DNS error. So I manually put in a Google's DNS for the DNS server but that did not fix it either. Desperate, I had him do the migration again so we could uninstall Norton 360 the right way before it gets tossed into the trash and deleted forever. Still no fix for the WiFi. Before I left his house tonight I started the M1 to reinstall macOS. My hope is that the reinstall will overwrite any bad settings or files that were migrated from the 2014 Intel MacBook with stuff that the M1 needs. Although I don't trust the M1 setup at this point (not even if this works) he would be happy if it worked. I suspect that tomorrow I will be resetting his M1 to factory settings, logging him in with his AppleID and manually installing all of his apps from the old MacBook (if they are M1 compatible) and copying over all of his photos and files. Has anyone else had a problem like this when migrating from an Intel based MacBook to a new M1 based iMac? Is it being problematic the reason the Apple store employees said that they don't help with migrations? Thanks for reading all of this and for any tips that you can share! [link] [comments] |
What could be the cause/ fix for a MacBook flickering like this? Posted: 30 Aug 2021 02:31 PM PDT The issue looks a whole lot like this: /r/LukeMianiYouTube/comments/nvtoco/brightness_flicker_issue_macbook_air_2015_please/ The screen is flickering but not in different colours. It is just going on and black or super dark at least. The flickering is so frequent it makes using the device practically impossible. I have tried the keyboard combination for SMC reset. The problem is still there but I am not quite sure whether or not it improved slightly. Every now and then the screen stays normal for like a minute or so but then the same thing happens. Does anyone have an idea what kind of issue this likely is? As I am not really familiar with fixing computers I will probably not do anything major on my own but I would still greatly appreciate your advice and knowledge and probably take them as suggestions if I find someone who knows better. Model is the MacBook Air 2015. [link] [comments] |

Horizontal red and blue lines plus a black vertical column on my Mac display? Posted: 30 Aug 2021 02:14 PM PDT Hello Apple Community, I hope the title is somewhat self-explanatory for people who have seen this issue but recently my MacBook display is flashing these red and blue vertical lines across my screen. Along with those lines a large, black, vertical column is right in the middle of my display as well. Does anyone know an easy solution to this? [link] [comments] |
I clicked on a phishing link on my Iphone. Do I have anything to worry about? Posted: 30 Aug 2021 09:00 AM PDT Unfortunately I clicked on a phishing link today. However, all it did was redirect me to the website I was on (I was on the browser version of instagram). By now I have read through a few tech support forums and the majority of people there said unless I had jailbreaked my phone (which I havent) there is really no reason to worry. Are they right? Am I just a bit paranoid? [link] [comments] |
