Advice on dealing with poor customer service from Apple? Posted: 31 Aug 2021 05:19 PM PDT 2 weeks ago my MacBook pro (2020 Intel Chip) started having battery issues that includes it claiming that it had 700 charges in just under a year, a service recommended warning and a battery that sometimes takes a few minutes to start charging. Since my AppleCare was running out on September 5th, I decided to immediately make an appointment for the first time slot the local Apple Store had, which was today at 6:35. When I got there today, the store was closed. I had never been informed that they changed the schedule and were closing early this week and my confirmation for the appointment was never canceled. When I look over the next available time slots, there are no appointments I will be in town for before my AppleCare expires. I had come home early from a vacation and took some time off of work today to make it to the appointment. I drove all the way into town and the store was closed. I feel very let down by Apple. I've had many of their phones, the watch, the AirPods and a couple MacBooks. I have always purchased their products because I believed in their "superior customer service". This was the first time I've had an issue and needed to go into a store and they really screwed it up. Does anyone have any advice on who to contact within Apple to get my MacBook repaired before the AppleCare expires, and tell me if Apple would be able to do anything to rectify this situation? I don't know if its best to call the store tomorrow, do the online chat or call into customer service number listed online. I'm not one to ask for issues like this to be solved and I have loved my experience with Apple products in the past, but I feel so let down by this that unless I feel like I am made whole in this situation I don't expect I will be buying any Apple products in the future. edit: All mentions of AppleCare+ should be replaced with the one year Hardware Warranty. Is it possible to force certain books to stay downloaded on the device? Posted: 31 Aug 2021 08:58 PM PDT I have found that on both my phone and iPad my books frequently offload themselves to the cloud. I have plenty of space on both devices. Very annoying when I'm somewhere with no signal and can't read because my book uploaded itself to the cloud and off my phone. Is there any way to stop this? [link] [comments] |

Extremely slow boot for Macbook Air Posted: 31 Aug 2021 07:57 PM PDT My friend's mom's Macbook Air (2013 macOS 10.15.7) has an extremely slow boot up. About 5-10 minutes. Once you log in the computer is sluggish and unresponsive completely unusable. The weird thing is once you log in, shut down and restart, the computer functions normally. until the computer is asleep or powered off for more than a few minutes we are forced to sit through the unresponsive/slow start. I have reset the NVRAM and done a fresh install of Catalina via recovery mode neither seem to have solved this problem. Could it be hardware related? Additionally, and I have no idea if this is related or not but there is no audio. System preference and Audio Midi Setup display as completely empty unless I am within range of an Airplay device. I'm no expert and am not equipped or knowledgeable enough to fix hardware but if its likely a hardware problem I'd at least like to let her know before she brings it in for repairs or buys a new machine. MacBook Pro 2017 13” chime look issue Posted: 31 Aug 2021 07:00 PM PDT Hi guys, first post here and I didn't think this would be my first 😢 My 1 year and 6 month old MacBook Pro 2017, 13" has decided to not boot up correctly the other day. I was in a meeting and when it ended, I closed it as normal, left it and when I went to use it again the startup chime came up, cuts out after a split second and then repeats. The screen stays black/blank and doesn't seem to move from there. I went to an Authorized Apple service centre who, after a 'diagnostic', said that the issue is with the screen and it needs replacing (for the price of almost a new MacBook!). Of course, I declined, took it back and left it. Then yesterday, I was reading online for anyone else who's had the same issue and with any potential fix. I opened up the MacBook and left it open but suddenly after maybe 15-30 mins, it miraculously turned on. I went straight into it and tried to do a proper restart but it happened again. It stayed at the looping chime, and black/blank screen. After leaving it again for about 20 mins, it turned on again and thought 'maybe I just need to update the OS, so once I had access I downloaded the update and towards the end it turned off, I think this is part of the update process. But low and behold, it rebooted at the repeating chime and black/blank screen and since then I've not been able to access it again. I've done some more reading and tried various hard reset combinations of the PRAM and NVRAM but no luck. As I've been reading online it seems that the issue is quite varied and wide. Hoping anyone out there can help or give me good advice on what the potential issue is and if there's a fi I can personally perform? Or at least give me a possible diagnosis so I won't be scammed when I go back to the the Authorized Apple service centre again? [link] [comments] |

My hope is to sync it with my music library and then take it to a wireless carrier to get set up as a phone. Reason being the length of time a full sync will take. Is this possible? Why does my iPad Pro always say accessory not supported when I try to connect my folio keyboard? Posted: 31 Aug 2021 10:23 PM PDT Basically, every time I connect my iPad Pro to the smart folio keyboard, it works for like a minute and then displays the 'accessory not supported' notification and I can't use it anymore. Does that mean my keyboard is broken and I have to get a replacement? Or is it the internal hardware from the iPad (the sensors on the back) that's broken? Bought an app from the app store and the charge is not showing up anywhere Posted: 31 Aug 2021 09:47 PM PDT So I bought an app (a calculator called Tydlig) from the app store for $1.99 and I was prompted to pay with Apple Pay which has my Apple Card by default. The app shows under Purchased in the app store and iTunes but the charge is not showing up on my Apple Card. I checked my other CCs to see if I maybe used one of them by accident and nothing. This was a couple of days ago and it would have instantly shown up with most CCs so I honestly don't know what's going. Any ideas? iPhone Text Messages to Speech Posted: 31 Aug 2021 09:37 PM PDT On Saturday, a close friend was in a serious accident that unfortunately resulted in more broken bones than unbroken ones it seems like, with many facial fractures as well and a whole lot of swelling. As a result, she has had difficulty reading the mass amount of text messages she has received in the past few days due to her eyes getting tired from focusing and the pain meds she is on making her woozy when reading (and may be on these meds for a good while). We have started sending voice messages in lieu of texts to keep her spirits up, but I know she wants to read the previous messages that everyone sent her before realizing she is having a hard time reading them right now. With time, she will be able to read library shelves worth of books without these issues, but for now, she needs a little help!!! Is there a way to convert past text messages into voice memos? Does anyone have an idea on how to make this process as easy as possible for her Mom, who is the only one allowed to see her in her hospital room? Posted: 31 Aug 2021 01:19 PM PDT Wow, I recently made a post about my repair at apple under Limited time warranty and the reason why I had to repair was totally out of the warranty rules. I came in a couple of days ago after dropping my phone in the pool which caused my iPhone charging port to completely crap out. I was lucky enough to have my iPhone 12's water damage indicator not triggered which would have resulted in me buying a new unit so thank god. I was really worried about water residue in the phone showing when they opened it but I'm guessing there wasn't any at all. they ended up not replacing parts but instead, they gave me a brand new phone! wow, apple gods are in my favor. Can I fix my fan and battery issue at the same time for mac Posted: 31 Aug 2021 04:07 PM PDT I have a MacBook Pro 2017 and it's 4 years old. It has a battery that depletes really fast and I almost always need to keep it plugged in. Naturally, I checked the system report and under Battery Information it says " Cycle Count: 1187, Condition: Service Recommended" so it clearly needs to be replaced. I have scheduled a genius bar appointment to get the battery replaced but I wonder if that will help with another issue I have. My mac gets EXTREMELY hot at the bottom and in the space above the keyboard and the fan gets very loud and turns on super quick. It turns on even for not power heavy activities like when I just turn on the computer the fan almost instantly turns on. Should this issue get resolved with the battery replacement? The way I see it I have 2 options. 1) I get the battery replaced, wait for the machine to come back, and see if the fan issue is also resolved. If not I can make another appointment to solve whatever fan issue later 2) I go to my battery appointment and also mention the fan issue so they can check out both at the same time, though I may just be making extra steps for myself in case the fan is just a symptom of the battery. What should I do? Is this likely to be just a symptom of the battery issue? Is there a way to check if the problems are related? Thanks! [link] [comments] |

She was on Mojave when her WiFi suddenly turned off and never worked again. After a clean install to Big Sur, it now works when you boot up the laptop (sometimes it doesn't though, and it stays off). But every time it gets to sleep mode, the Wi-Fi stays disabled and refuses to be activated again. Bluetooth always works. What I tried: SMC reset NVRAM reset Cleaned Airport card connector Cleaned I/O board cable and connectors Booted up in Safe Mode and tried the sleep procedure there too, same result What could I try as well? Just buy a new Airport card and hope that one works? [link] [comments] |
I messed up BootCamp! Unable to go back to MacOS!!! Posted: 31 Aug 2021 03:37 PM PDT I have a 2019 iMac with both windows 10 and macos, using bootcamp. A few days ago, windows sudenly bluescreened, but I decided to ignore it and just went on with using macOS. However, today I needed to use windows, but every time I booted them, it went in automatic repair mode. From there, if I chose to start windows, it would bluescreen again and return to automatic repair. So, I figured the only way to get out of this loop would be to use the Troubleshoot option. There, a fresh install of windows was suggested, stating that I would loose all the programs, but my files would stay safe. After it finished, I went to check if everything was ok, and indeed, my files were still there and all the apps were wipped. But when I decided to return to MacOS, the option key wouldn't do anything, and the system would just boot windows. I panicked and retried, but nothing. I checked if bootcamp was on my windows, but... NOTHING! The icon is missing, the startup item is missing, and if I use the search, no results come up. Is there any way to fix this? I really need to go back to MacOS, that's where I had almost everything!! Please help me if you can, you are my last hope. I searched the internet for any cases similar to mine, but all I could find is people not knowing where to find the bootcamp assistant in their devices, or not knowing how to change bootdrives, which is not what I want.
