- MacBook Pro Question! The top of my computer keeps moving over? It looks like the part that says “File” got shifted to the right and now the black is moving inward. I fixed it twice by changing from light mode back to dark mode but it keeps happening. Could this be malware or a virus or something?

| Polarized sunglasses with M1 Macbook Posted: 04 Jul 2021 12:02 AM PDT Hi, I'm getting a new M1 Macbook in about a month's time. I've seen some discussion on using the laptop outdoors, but no recent discussion on using polarized sunglasses with it. With normal linear (horizontal/vertical ) polarization, you can rotate the glasses to change the amount of light transmitted through them if the light source itself is linearly polarized. On my mobile phone (Huawei Mate 20 Pro), I need to hold it at a slight angle to maximize transmission of screen light through the sunglasses, which is slightly annoying but fine. On a laptop however, I can't hold the device at an angle. Note that the slight angle may be due to the sunglasses being cheap - I don't know if polarization directions are standardized. There is a 2011 source saying that Apple patented LCD screens that emit circularly polarized light, but I don't know if they use that. So to my questions: - What are your experiences with using polarized sunglasses with M1 Macbooks (other laptops welcome too, but please specify) - Does anyone know what type of polarization new Macs have? Posted: 03 Jul 2021 09:06 PM PDT I have been wondering over these two options for a while now as they have somewhat similar price. I mostly do graphic design using AI, Photoshop, InDesign, and some office work with word, excel, and powerpoint. I do some gaming often (not heavy games) and some other time do light video editting. As far as I know, the Macbook Pro would do better in gaming as it has 8 core GPU while the Air only has 7 cores. But I am aware that Graphic Design tasks can use a lot of RAM so I am pondering over the 16 GB option. However the M1 Macbook Air does not have any fans so I am kinda afraid that it might throttle when it comes to heavy designing tasks. I do like the design of the Macbook Pro and the touchbar a lot but I cannot afford the Pro's 16GB RAM version. Can the 8GB do some heavy design (not 3D related) and are there any other things that I have to compromise if I choose the Pro with 8GB RAM? Thank you in advance! [link] [comments]  | ||
| How long will a 2016 MacBook Pro 15" last? Posted: 03 Jul 2021 01:25 PM PDT Hi everyone! I'd like to precursor by saying that I understand that the keyboard for this generation of laptops is absolutely terrible. I actually will do the majority of my typing on a ergonomic keyboard that I carry around in my regular backpack. The reason why I'm thinking about a 15" MBP despite the keyboard is that I'd be getting it for around $600, which I feel for a i7/16gb/512gb is worth it for the price. I'm not comfortable spending 1.5k+ for a more recent 16" MBP. I thought about the M1, but currently it's only offered on screen sizes of 13.3", which is too small for my use case. My apartment is tiny and I'd like to keep no desk/monitor in there and work primarily off of a laptop (separation of work and home kinda thing and the ability to put a laptop away is valuable to me). Even though I know that'd be ideal and a much better deal, the ability to just put everything out of sight is much more valuable to me :) My use case: High school teacher, PhD candidate currently in dissertation phase. Mainly Office Suite, Zotero. With that said, what do you think?

| Posted: 03 Jul 2021 02:03 PM PDT So, I just returned brand new Macbook Air M1 as I found the sound quality coming from speakers really low. Volume was fine but the sound was very muffled and boxed, and doing a quick search online confirmed this seems to be the case with M1 MBAs. I currently have 2016 Macbook which has phenomenal speakers compared to M1 MBA. Comparing them side by side was eye opening. Does anyone know whether any of the new models - M1 or even Intel - Pro or Air models have better speakers? [link] [comments]  | ||

| M1 Macbook Air stuck in restarting loop (help). Posted: 03 Jul 2021 12:18 PM PDT I was working on my Macbook yesterday, and went for a quick snack in the kitchen. When I came back, I saw that my Macbook restarted itself. I didn't think much of it, since I've experienced these crashes about 5 times already with this device (pink screen and restart). I had to log in again using my password. Currently I find myself having a major problem with my Macbook. When logging in, the loading bar always gets stuck on the same spot, and then it restarts. Also the charging cable isn't recognized anymore (diagnostics or MacOS reinstall not possible due to power cable not recognized). I'm stuck in this loop and don't know what else to do. I ran first aid via MacOS Recovery with no solution. This is a brand new device purchased in April. Somebody please help! [link] [comments]  |
