| Forgot iTunes backup password and can't restore data on new iPhone Posted: 25 Jun 2021 03:22 AM PDT I backed up my old iPhone to my laptop (windows10) via iTunes and then reset the phone, erasing all the data on it. I got a new iPhone now and I can't remember my backup password so I'm not able to restore the old data on it. I really don't know what to do, all suggestions are appreciated!! Posted: 25 Jun 2021 05:48 AM PDT New to iphone, on my previous android while I was at work I could set my phone so that the ringer was off but text alerts/sounds was still on. My phone would play an alert sound only when our text line contacted me. Is there a way to do this with the Iphone 12? I dont want my call ringer going off at work but my coworkers reach me via text. I know I can turn the volume down in sounds & haptics settings but that also turns alert volume down for all alerts. also if there is a way to make it so my phone alerts me when only a certain contact texts me and not all contacts how would I set that? | Phone constantly plugged in and battery health Posted: 25 Jun 2021 02:12 AM PDT So I bought the Lightning camera adapter to connect an external DAC to my iPhone 12 mini. Since the DAC draws too much current, I use the lightning input to supply power to both the DAC and the iPhone. As a side effect, the iPhone will fully charge and stay at 100% while consuming more energy than regular standby (streaming music with the screen on). I do imagine this causes the battery to drop a bit then re-charge, over and over again. How damaging is this behavior to battery life, as opposed to supplying the DAC with energy some other way without also charging the phone? [link] [comments]  |

| Posted: 25 Jun 2021 12:55 AM PDT I will describe my problem. My iPhone randomly crashed and was stuck on a circular loading screen. The circular loading would sometimes freeze. It was like this for a while so I decided to hard reset it. I pressed up volume, down volume, then held the power button. It reset, but when it turned back on, a majority of the apps on my home page had invisible icons and were unable to open. Then, when I tried to open an app, my iPhone crashed. When it turned back on I tried to access other things it crashed again. I am now stuck in this loop. Any advice? [link] [comments]  |
| Posted: 24 Jun 2021 10:17 PM PDT I have a used iPhone X that when I obtained it was broken (it would get stuck on the Apple logo at bootup) but I was able to fix it (by connecting it to my Mac in Recovery Mode and restoring it using Finder) and it seems to work fine now. The only problem now is that it has battery drain (87% of the original capacity) so I'm not sure if I should spend $70 to get the battery replaced or not. My grandma needs a new phone (she has an old 8) but she doesn't like "big" screens. I think a XS/11 Pro/12 or maybe a XR/11/12/12 Pro would be perfect for her but she doesn't really care enough to spend money on it. Should I give her the used iPhone X in its current state, spend $70 to replace the battery and give it to her, save my money and wait for her to upgrade because her 8 has become unusable, or save up money and buy her a newer phone like a XS or XR and save the used iPhone X for a future project/add it to my collection (I like to collect phones, especially iPhones, my current collection is an iPhone 4, iPhone 5s, iPhone 6, few year old Moto phone that I only own because it was free, and iPhone 11 Pro Max (my daily driver and the only one that I use frequently for anything besides playing around with Jailbreaks and that kind of fun stuff))? | Posted: 24 Jun 2021 09:11 PM PDT Has anyone had an issue with iPhone apps? For example I try to open my messages and sometimes it'll just open then immediately close. The app is still open in the app screen so I close it, then I reopen the app and it'll be on a random text conversation I wasn't on before and won't respond to any touches except the swipe up gesture to go home. | Can a new Charging Port cause minor battery drain? Posted: 24 Jun 2021 08:51 PM PDT I recently got my Charging Port replaced on my 6s plus from a 3rd party shop. I'm seeing 1% idle battery drain with a 100% Battery Health. I don't know if this was normally the case before I got it replaced. If it was, it's very well fine. Checking the 10 day battery graph shows that my usage and battery drop is similar to as it was before. I called the shop and they said that charging ports are in no way responsible for this. Everybody knows that the battery health capacity is aging chemicaly and it's not able to recover by only waiting or using softwares, you have to replace the old battery with a new one. Well days ago I decided to check my maximum capacity and hoped not to dropped since the last time I saw it (it was 98%). I've got iPhone 11 and nobody has talked about that problem. So after I checked it the percentage showed 100. This was something very creepy and somehow impossible. I would like to ask if somebody had the same problem and how should I fix it? When I go though the add a new account process, nothing happens after hitting next and it circles me back to the select which email (outlook, aol, gmail etc screen) - my email account is an AOL account. I have several email accounts for work and personal. So I'm simply trying to add an account - as mentioned above, I go through the add email account steps, hit the "aol" Option, go through username and password, hit next, loops me back to select aol/gmail/outlook screen

The impact was mainly on the bottom side of the Iphone, near the charging port. The screen is now fully dead. (not broken just fully black) The phone is working, I can pick up calls , I can talk, I can turn on the flashlight (since I know where the button is placed) , but I can´t see anything. Also, when I turn on the flashlight the phone starts to heat up a lot. | Posted: 24 Jun 2021 06:28 PM PDT 1st gen SE went for a swim for several minutes. Screen was dead, so I'm not sure but I don't think it got turned off after getting wet. It got pretty warm to the touch. I put it in desiccant with a fan in it for several days and it was a paperweight. Upon taking it apart, it had a dark spot on the back-of-screen shield about in line where the ribbon cable comes out from under the (speaker housing?). No other noticeable cooking or corrosion. The battery reads 0.0v. What are the odds that a new battery is the problem and a new one might bring this thing back to life, at least long enough to grab some files and sync my watch (or longer)? It would be great if it did, but I don't want to waste a measurable chunk of the cost of a new phone for a near-zero percent chance of it working. [link] [comments]  |

Someone calls, I'm doing something so I hit the speaker icon to activate the loud speaker, and we have a conversation. With my iPhone 12 Pro Max, when I do this, people on the other end can barely hear me. All diagnostics I have done from restarting, updating, messing with sound settings have provided nothing. When I call and put the phone up to my ear normally, people can hear me just fine, which makes me wonder since it seems like the mic is fine. The mic also records just fine in my memo app. I really don't know where to go from here, as I was really stupid and didn't purchase apple care plus (regretfully). | Device experienced slow speeds due to congestion on area cell site Posted: 24 Jun 2021 12:30 PM PDT A friend of mine has been having serious issues with data connectivity and signal since getting their iPhone 12 with a Verizon partner (Ohio, United States). I am trying to figure out if it is because they are using a Verizon partner instead of Verizon they are having this issue. His provider contacted Verizon and this was the response he was given (see title). When he asked what they were doing to improve it he says he was just given same answer. Verizon has always said they Prioritize their customers over partners but at some point there is priority and then there is limiting. He says he had no issue with his 11 on same network but he remembers the 11 had a 5 digit PRL. My iPhone 12 on Sprint (haven't changed over to T-Mobile just yet) has a 5 digit PRL 55576. The iPhone 12 on Verizon partner network is 1. I don't know anyone on T-mobile or AT&T so just trying to find out if this PRL is correct for iPhone 12 on Verizon network? [link] [comments]  |
