i have a few thread devices and saw you can check in the eve app and it'll show new apple tv 4k as a thread device. well in my case none of this is happening. anyone might know why or how to solve?

Turntable to Apple TV then Homepods

I've been thinking of ways to connect a turntable, or any analog audio source, to my homepods. I suddenly realised that the new Apple TV 4K supports eARC output to HomePods and soon any Airplay2 Device. I'm wondering if I could connect a turntable to the TV and then have it output to homepods via the Apple TV? Would this work? I'm assuming I would need an analog to hdmi converter or a turntable with USB output which could then somehow be turned into HDMI? Maybe I could use a raspberry Pi to avoid the TV altogether, connect to the Apple TV and send audio out of the HDMI port? Has anyone thought of this application yet?

Xbox one controller troubles with Apple TV 4th gen

So my Xbox one controller has trouble staying connected to Apple TV 4th gen. I'll have to re-pair the controller almost every time I turn on Apple TV. Would getting the newest Xbox controller help this matter?

Are There Home Screen Ads?

After Google pushed an update for forced ads oj the Invidia Shield I'm looking for alternatives. I couldn't find any clear answers on this.

Does the new Apple TVs have ads on their home screen? If they do, can they be disabled or blocked? I don't necessarily care about personalized recommendations in a row, but I cannot stand giant banner ads on a device I've paid $200 for.

Dolby Vision Problem��

I got the new Apple TV 4K when it came out recently and had no issues with DV. I just tried to watch Mythic Quest and it kept cutting out and showing a black screen every couple of seconds. It also cuts out when on the home screen.

My setup is Apple TV > denon x3600h > LG C9.

I have tried 3 different HDMI cables. It does work fine when I plug the Apple TV into the TV directly. So it must be something with the AVR? I haven't changed anything and my Nvidia Shield works fine with DV and the same cables.

Any ideas? Thanks!

YouTube - Takes a while to change channels

MEANT TO PUT YOUTUBE TV IN THE TITLE.

I've only noticed this recently. We have an Apple TV for our living room and an Android TV (Mi Box) in the bedroom.

When I change to different channel, it takes quite a long time on the Apple TV. It will show a freeze frame of the channel for up to 10-15 seconds before it starts playing the channel.

The Android TV is nearly instant.

We have cable internet 300Mbps connection with very low latency.

Latency only with Apple TV

Very fast home internet and wireless router, but over the last 3 days my Apple TV (2015 edition) has severe latency issues when using any app (YouTube, Netflix, Starz, HBO Max, etc.) I'll run a speed test on my laptop/iPhone at the same time and there are no issues.

I performed a complete reset last night and re-downloaded the apps and it worked fine when I tested. But this morning and through the afternoon the same latency problem returned.

Anyone run into something similar and any advice for me?

With an iPhone I can send a video from OneDrive and airplay works perfectly on Apple tv.... But if I try google drive it always gives me an error.... Any fixes?

Apple TV, live programmes in the UK?

My issue in my home is that the aerial is knackered and can't get HD channels.

I can stream live through the BBCi player app, but can't do this with the itv hub or 4 on demand with the build in apps on an LG tv with WebOS. Do you have the option to steam live TV with the itv hub and 4 on demand apple on Apple TV?

TLDR Aerial at home is crap. Can you live stream live tv though apps on Apple TV. Or is there a better solution.

Only 10 free movies or so?

Got a year of apple TV from a car purchase, and after starting it I was surprised to see a bunch of movies that I would like to see. Problem is, 99% of them say "How to Watch"; meaning "How to buy".

Doesn't seem to be any way to list free movies only, but a Google search referred me to a post here https://www.reddit.com/r/appletv/comments/jerygw/is_there_any_way_to_just_list_free_movies_and/ . I go into the TV+ section, and all the movies are free, but there only seems to be about 10 of them.

So, is that right? Does Apple TV only have 10 free movies at any time?

I don't watch series much, and my local library has or can get any movie within a few days so I don't purchase films either. Frugal or cheap; your choice what to call me. Thought Apple TV would be nice to try, but I guess if I don't watch series then it is a complete waste for me?

Moving from HD to new 4K ATV. Are my expectations reasonable, and will it be a pain?

My main complaints about my HD 32 gig are that I hate the remote and the navigation of the ATTTV app is kludgy. So, will the new processor remedy that appreciably? I'm not an over the top image quality, gamer, or home integration guy. I know I can just upgrade the remote, but I have no interest in keeping the old one. The HD & remote are worth about $35 in the buy back market, but I can't sell the remote alone.

Will the navigational response be a noticeable improvement on the new unit? What is the upgrade process regarding reloading apps and sign ins? That's the thing I dread much more than paying the bill.

Has connecting your Air Pods to your Apple TV changed for anyone else?

So it's become rather annoying….

I used to just be able to hold the menu button, and select the device. No matter what my Air Pods were currently connected to, it would connect to the Apple TV. Awesome!

For example if I was listening to music on my phone but wanted to connect to the Apple TV, all I would have to do is select them on the Apple TV. It would disconnect them from my phone (and pause the music or whatever is playing on my phone) and connect to the Apple TV.

However, this past week, it just does not connect unless I:

Take the Air Pods out
Close any audio playing app on my phone
Put them in the case
Close the case
Wait a second and back out of Apple TV menu
Open the case
Put them back in my ears
Open menu back up and select them on the Apple TV.

What gives? Is anyone else experiencing this? It used to be so simple but now it's a whole thing to disconnect them from my phone in order to connect them to the TV.

This goes against the whole convenience of Air Pods, they are supposed to switch at the click of a button :(
