Macbook Pro - USB-C Ports Not Working Posted: 25 Jun 2021 02:39 AM PDT Hi, A couple of weeks ago my laptop (Macbook Pro 2019, Touchbar) started having problems charging. It would cut in and out. Often I would have to try a few different ports to get the charging to start. I tried an SMC reset and updating the computer to the latest OS, but made no difference. The ports seemed fine for everything else I tried (usb harddrive, HDMI connector). This made me think it was the charger, so got a new one but the problem persisted. In the meantime, I occasionally got an error when the harddrive was connected. Can't remember the exact wording, but something along the lines of "a usb device is using too much power." When I tried a different port, it worked ok. I also started experiencing problems when trying to connect it to my TV. Might have to try a couple of different ports before it connected. Fast forward to last night and now it won't charge at all. The harddrive worked in one port after trying a few of them. Has anyone else had this problem? Is there another reset or something I can do or is it a hardware problem? I was considering doing a factory reset, but I'm not sure if there's enough battery left (20%) to do this. Any help/ideas would be greatly appreciated. If there's more info needed, let me know and I'll post it. Thanks! [link] [comments] |

Apple Time Capsule(4th gen) and Windows 10 Posted: 25 Jun 2021 04:15 AM PDT Anyone knows easy way how to access Time Capsule HDD in Windows 10? None of tutorials on the Internet worked.(visible in network, but asks for username and password, entering it doesn't work) Works well in Big Sur and Linux Mint, just Windows is an issue. Default audio source never the CalDigit TS3 Plus (MBP 16" 2019 w/ macOS 11.4) Posted: 25 Jun 2021 12:12 AM PDT Hi folks, got an interesting one. I have a Late 2019 MacBook Pro 16" and I'm using a CalDigit TS3 Plus with powered speakers plugged in to the audio port (not the optical one). I also am using a Dell U2719DC monitor via DisplayPort. The issue I have is that I can no longer set the CalDigit Thunderbolt 3 Audio: Speaker as the default audio source for Output or "Play sound effects through". In the past I was able to plug the speakers in to the monitor (and with Loopback from Rogue Amoeba) I was able to use that as an audio source. For some reason I can't do that anymore so I decided to have the speakers plugged in to the TS3 Plus instead. However the default audio source always was set to the Dell monitor. I have tried rebooting, repairing permissions, zapping the NVRAM, PRAM, SMC all of that. I even went as far as to delete the following files from /Library/Preferences/Audio: com.apple.audio.DeviceSettings.plist com.apple.audio.SystemSettings.plist Following the instructions from the CalDigit site I then selected what I wanted to use as default right after which is the CalDigit dock, but prior to rebooting I selected the MacBook Pro Speakers for both Output and Play sound effects through. When I rebooted, it no longer defaults to the monitor thankfully, but it does default to the MacBook Pro speakers, but I wanted to default to the TS3 Plus. It just won't. I have to manually set it to that every time I log in to my Mac. Would love any help or advice on this before I consider deleting my profile and starting fresh which will be painstaking to do but if it's to be it's to be. [link] [comments] |
Alarms not working…But only sometimes? Posted: 25 Jun 2021 03:49 AM PDT Hi I have an iPhone 12 Pro, fully updated and whatnot, and I've had it for about a month or two now. For the last week or so however my alarms havent been working. If I set one now to go off in a minute it'll go off, but I set one to go off overnight it won't. I deleted all try alarms and remade the ones I need to try fix it, but for some reason it doesn't go off. I don't have snooze enabled and I do set multiple alarms so I should hear my alarm regardless (I put it on my bedside table) and I have an Apple Watch that for some reason isn't working either when I set my alarms either. I have no idea why my alarms aren't working. I remake the alarms every night because I heard reoccurring alarms might not work. I can't risk sleeping in because of responsibilities so I'm unsure what to actually do. I tried other alarm apps but I just don't like them really lol. So for example today I had the sleep schedule that should have woken me up at 10am, but I also had an alarm set for 10:30am and 10:46 am just in case it didn't work again. None went off. I have the alarms enabled on my watch and iPhone and none worked. When I checked, all of them had the toggle turned off. I set an alarm at 11:48 to go off at 11:49 to see if it works, and it did. Im just so confused. Do I have to keep the alarm app open for it to work? If I'm in do not disturb mode will alarms not work (I use the sleep mode thing when I sleep but maybe there's a bug?). Any help at all will be much appreciated. Thank you so much [link] [comments] |
Posted: 25 Jun 2021 03:49 AM PDT Apple AirTag is designed to be attached to keys, bags, wallets, or whatever items you want. The device was officially launched on April 30, 2021. The smart tag is an IoT device. It uses ultra-wideband technology, Bluetooth, and the existing ecosystem of Apple's devices to pinpoint the most precise location of lost or missing items. Now, let's delve into how AirTags work. AirTags are paired with an iPhone or iPad. They represent part of the FindMy app functionality. After the successful setup, users can see the tag's location on a map inside the FindMy app. But how does it happen? The principle of their work is simple. Tags are equipped with Bluetooth chips and tiny speakers. They send short-range Bluetooth signals containing a unique encrypted ID. The paired device obtains these signals and identifies the tracker's location. So, if the tag is nearby, users can either play sound via the app or ask Siri to locate it with a sound alert. When the tag is lost or stolen, the FindMy network comes to the rescue. It includes millions of Apple's devices that help the owner to track down the lost object. Wondering which technology stands behind it? Watch this video to find it out. [link] [comments] |
Can Others See If They Have This Issue? Posted: 25 Jun 2021 03:46 AM PDT I'm having kind of a unique issue and want to see if it's just a hardware issue on my end or if it's more widespread and a software issue in general. Using the AirPods Pro and listening to the Apple Podcast app (all on newest updates) you have to be listening to the podcast at 2X speed. Then double click the AirPod (has to be the pro model) to skip forward in the podcast. Try this a few times, does it pause the podcast for you? For me it will start not skipping right ahead in the podcast like it's supposed to but instead the progress bar keeps going but the podcast doesn't play right away. This doesn't happen in other podcast apps or if/when using other Bluetooth headphones. Just this unique combination. I tried resetting my AirPods but still have the issue and want to see if it's just my AirPods Pro hardware. [link] [comments] |

iPhone 11 Pro Max 1x camera black screen! Posted: 25 Jun 2021 03:26 AM PDT My girlfriends 1x zoom on her iPhone started showing up completely black, her phone was under warranty so she's got it replaced, the replacement had the exact same problem! So... she got it replaced again, and that replacement also has the same problem!! I don't know if it could be related to iCloud or something? It's just really strange it's the exact same problem on both replacements as the original. Someone please help, can't find any way to fix it! [link] [comments] |

Mac & i OS - ghost email accounts Posted: 25 Jun 2021 03:19 AM PDT Background: I have an old, old, OLD original .mac AppleID. I've never changed it because it was too much hassle and i would have lost access to all my original purchases back in the day. I no longer have access to my .mac inbox but it works fine as an appleID only. I do have a couple of icloud email addresses, and they (generally) all work nicely together with no issues. My day-to-day setup is an iPhone, iPad and a Macbook. The issue is that when I set up my new iPad and sign into icloud to sync email, notes, etc. an old me.com (from the days of mobile me) email appears as the default icloud email. When I try to add my newer icloud email addresses, it says "this account is already added" because (I assume) it thinks the me.com email address is the icloud email - even though I never use it. I also notice since that the me.com email address has started appearing in my Mail app on Mac too. I don't want to use it, and I don't know 1) why it's appearing at all and 2) why it's appearing as the default email address 3) why i can't get rid of it. I use my ipad for work stuff mostly and it's a bit messy when I'm emailing clients with multiple email addresses. I have tried signing out of icloud on all my devices and setting up from scratch, same issue. Any thoughts welcome. [link] [comments] |

iWork Pages 11.1 and Missing Fonts Posted: 25 Jun 2021 02:19 AM PDT Hi everyone, I've looked for info about this online already, but cannot seem to find anything helpful. I have just over 300 fonts in my Font Book. They all appear in Word, Photoshop, etc. But i saw that not all of them appear in Pages version 11.0. I'm running OSX Catalina 10.15.7. As a test, I created a document in Word using one of these rogue fonts, then opened that Word doc in Pages. I assumed it would tell me that the font didn't exist. But the font appeared as it should! Yet, only for that document - it didn't appear in any other new Pages docs or stay in the list of available fonts when I closed and reopened Pages. It seems the same fonts are also missing in Keynote. I've done some digging, and found the AvailableFonts.plist file in ~/Library/Containers/com.apple.iWork.Pages/Data/Library/Application Support/ The plist file seems to list all the fonts that I see in Pages and is missing the coding for the fonts I don't see. So I suppose the question is, how do I get all the missing fonts to get written into that plist file? Or perhaps there is something else I've missed? I've played around with FontBook too - moving fonts from User to Computer and back. Weirdly also - not all the fonts in Pages (which are definitely not standard ones, but ones I installed years ago), don't appear in FontBook either. But they do still appear in Word and Adobe programs. I just tried updating to Pages 11.1 too and rebooting, but that hasn't helped. Any thoughts? Thanks very much! [link] [comments] |

Forgot iTunes backup password and can't restore data on new iPhone Posted: 25 Jun 2021 01:08 AM PDT I backed up my old iPhone to my laptop (windows10) via iTunes and then reset the phone, erasing all the data on it. I got a new iPhone now and I can't remember my backup password so I'm not able to restore the old data on it. I really don't know what to do, all suggestions are appreciated!! iPhone 11 screen dimms quickly outside Posted: 24 Jun 2021 11:43 PM PDT My iPhone 11 has done this extremely often since I got the phone in 2019, and it's starting to get annoying. Why is it happening constantly? I've tried Googling and I only found results for iPhone X, which has an OLED screen so it kinda has to dimm when it gets hot, but iPhone 11 has LCD which to my knowledge shouldn't need to dimm when it gets hot [link] [comments] |
