Chrome with Adblock vs Safari with Adguard Posted: 30 May 2021 11:35 PM PDT I know there's a lot of chrome slander out there for Mac but lately whenever I try to watch youtube videos on safari with adguard on, its either really slow or my fans heat up really fast. Meanwhile everything is normal on chrome when watching YouTube. Personally, I've also noticed that its been using less avg ram then safari, so what's with all the chrome hate? Is this a normal thing? LOL I really like the safari UI but efficient ad blocking is a must for me. Is there another good adblocker for safari or should I just stick with chrome? [link] [comments]

How to monitor CPU temperatures? Posted: 30 May 2021 09:41 PM PDT How do you all monitor the CPU temps of your macbook as these devices get hot sometimes. Is there a specific app(free) which i can use for doing so? I downloaded iStat menus but it's paid and am not willing to pay? Any suggestions for apps or any tips and tricks? [link] [comments]
Any way to make the right click area larger? Posted: 30 May 2021 09:26 PM PDT I'm used to the trackpad on Windows PC notebooks where the left and right click areas generally make 50% each. On my Mac touchpad this frequently leads to me doing a left click where I actually wanted to perform a right click because the right click areas seems to be in the right corner already, not the full right half. Any way to change that and make the right click area larger? [link] [comments]
Posted: 30 May 2021 11:34 PM PDT Hi I am new Mac use and I need your help. So I bought a Mac mini two days ago off Ebay. The device was originally packed (plastic film was only damaged ) When I unpacked it I noticed scratches underneath the device then I checked its serial number I learnt that it was activated back in December 2020. When updating to Big Sur the device froze once and I had to switch it off manually but eventually it updated. Then I run Apple diagnostic but it freezes straight away and do not get it completed. The seller said that he bought it from a 3rd party Apple authorised dealer as damaged box item ( do not really believe it) If the computer was refurbished by a third party company and wrapped like the new one?? If seals are broken for any reason Apple warranty would be void. Should I be worried about it? [link] [comments]

Windows 10 Won't Install on MacBook Pro Posted: 30 May 2021 05:49 PM PDT I'm trying to use Boot Camp Assistant to install Windows 10. The USB is inserted and it went through the process. When it rebooted it came up with a message that said "No bootable device insert boot disk and press any key installing Windows on Mac." I was able to figure out to use Alt to start it up in Mac and then make the OS portion of the Start Up Disk boot as it normally does. I'm stuck at this point not knowing if Windows was installed or what I need to do next. [link] [comments]
If you are tired of Grammarly ads on YouTube I found an adblocker that works Posted: 30 May 2021 08:59 AM PDT after 2 or 3 weeks of painful Grammarly ads, I tried AdBlock Pro, after instaling there is an extra "Video" option in the Safari extension privacy settings that you need to tick and so far it works. no problem [link] [comments]
Posted: 30 May 2021 09:11 PM PDT I checked my activity monitor and saw my MBA M1 is constantly using 12-13 GB of my 16 GB RAM even though I didn't have many things open especially no heavy tasks but only some browser windows. Is that normal? Any way to find out what's drawing that much RAM? I have some utilities and helpers installed but generally I'm careful with not bloating the system. [link] [comments]

How can I get my trackpad's triple-click to function as a scroll wheel click? Posted: 30 May 2021 02:28 PM PDT I used to use Magic Prefs but on my M1 MBP on Big Sur it won't work anymore. Any other options? Preferably free By triple click i mean 3 finger click I tried the MiddleClick app but it's not working for me either [link] [comments]
Unclear Information on installing Majave (or Catalina) on MacBook Air Mid-2011 Posted: 30 May 2021 07:39 PM PDT I have a MacBook Air 2011 updated to its latest official firmware, 10.13 High Sierra. It has 4gb of RAM and a dual core core i5 processor (model number is A1370, if that helps at all). I am interested in using DosDudes patching tool to update it to either Mojave or Catalina, but I've found a lot of conflicting advice about doing this and conflicting reports of how well it works. Some people say it is flawless, others say that there are some weird resolution issues, especially with text, on the older non-retina display of the 2011 MBA. Obviously I know I am not going to be gaming, photo or video editing, or rendering on this computer; I am only looking to use it as a Chromebook replacement (my other laptop is an Acer C740 Chromebook). Ultimately, I suppose my question is this: what is the best operating system to be using on this machine; High Sierra, Mojave, or Catalina? What would I be losing out on sticking with High Sierra, and what would I be risking updating to Mojave or Catalina? Thank you all in advance. PS, please no "just buy a new laptop, that one is so old and junky anyway" comments, this is what I have to work with right now, and it's all I will have for a bit. [link] [comments]

Can't rotate iMac using cmd + option trick. Posted: 30 May 2021 12:20 PM PDT Hi, I am aware in order to bring up the rotate screen option on mac you need to go to display and hold cmd + option when clicking it. It shows up on my macbook but I am more concerned with the iMac because I was planning on getting the vesa mount one but if I can't rotate the screen then I wouldn't get that one. Is there another way to rotate the screen? [link] [comments]
