    Power of m1 mac - 2nd part. Opened 55 apps all at once after reboot. 6 Intel apps including Android Studio. At the end almost hanged. Some apps opened for the very first time since I bought it.     Hey folks! I'm trying to find an easy-to-use GIF creation software for macOS (I'm rocking Catalina, as of now). My main source will be video files, taking little sections of long videos to make the GIF. However, it would still be cool to also have the ability to use screen recordings and such, because why not?

    The main thing that I'm concerned with is quality. If the end result is not tiny and is smooth, then that would be beautiful! Any suggestions?

    Best anti-malware software for Big Sur and M1?

    My renewal for Sophos Home is coming up, and prior to last week I would have gladly renewed it. However, Big Sur 11.3 put Sophos Home into a tailspin so I had to un-install it to regain usability of my Mac. So I'm not going to renew Sophos Home.

    What's the best home anti-malware software that's Big Sur friendly and M1 native? I just need anti-malware protection, no VPN, no Firewall, no e-mail phishing protection.

    Please don't say anti-virus is unnecessary because the Mac is secure. No OS is invulnerable and I have highly valuable data that I want to protect against viruses, ransomware, etc.

    I have a 13" 2018 i5 MacBook Pro and I have tried Big Sur out a few times but always ended up downgrading to Mojave because it was sluggish at times. If you have an Intel Mac, how's your experience on Big Sur been? Thanks in advance.

    Why isn’t tap once to click enabled be default? Are there any other settings I should check that I might not know about?

    I'm coming from windows and this is my first macOS device. I do use iPhones though. Why wasn't tap to click enabled by default? Thought that was odd. Any other settings changes you recommend? Thanks!

    Time Machine on HDD: APFS or Extended/HFS+?

    I just bought a new backup drive (WD MyPassport). It is formatted in HFS+.

    Should I reformat it to APFS? All of the machines that will be backed up are running Big Sur, so Time Machine can use APFS or HFS+. I've read the APFS is slower than HFS+ on HDDs, but it is more reliable. So I'm leaning towards APFS. Which is best?

    Big Sur third party icons too small?

    Just trying Bug Sur and downloaded some custom icons for Firefox and noticed they are a bit smaller than the Apple ones. Is there an easy way to resize them without being a whiz at photoshop? Why is everyone making the icns too small? Did Apple recently change the size or something?

    With M1 now in a iPad Pro, could we see experimental macOS run on one?

    Because Apple lately released a new iPad Pro with M1, does this mean we might get a few clever hackers running post-Big Sur macOS versions? Although I would say M1 could be killing Hackintosh soon if they don't save it, it may also lead to desktop macOS ending up in weird hands!

    Cannot upgrade reminders

    I updated both my computers to Big Sur and I try to upgrade Reminders. I click the upgrade button, the spinning wheel appears. After few minutes old reminders from the past are shown and the current reminders disappear. After another minute current reminders are shown again with the upgrade button. This happens on both my computers

    I've already upgraded Reminders on my iPad and iPhone, but they don't sync with iCloud at all. Logout from iCloud doesn't help, because after next login old reminders are reloaded, even if I delete them on iOS device. iCloud on the web shows current reminders from the computers

    The whole situation drives me mad. Is it possible to somehow fix this problem?

    How do you set two applications to be "active" on two monitors?

    I want to go from Chrome (monitor 1) to an Excel document (monitor 2), using as few clicks as possible to extract information from the Excel document to copy/paste into Chrome. How do I keep both of these applications active so that I don't have to keep "activating" Excel?

    Book Collections Not Syncing to Ipad from laptop.

    I have a lot of books that I took the time to sort into collections on my laptop (currently running Catalina). When I connect my iPad via USB and sync it does not transfer over the collections. Is this something where I need to use iCloud to do it? I have a lot of books, there isn't enough space in my iCloud to store them all without upgrading. Is there a step I am missing that will allow the collections to sync just by using the USB?

    HP Smart on M1 MacBook Air

    Is it possible to print to a HP Color LaserJet Pro MFP from an M1 MacBook Air?

    The HP Smart app cannot find my printer (a M283fdw), much less control it.

    Of course, I can live without the bells and whistles of the app. All I really need is to be able to print things by hitting Command-P or clicking on the appropriate printer icon.

    I fear that this has already been discussed but I just got the MBAir and have found anything useful on the HP web site or the Internet. My attempts cause a kernel panic and some damage so I am uneager to keep experimenting.

    Did anyone manage to change the bigsur login wallpaper and the huge icon that comes during a restart or when the mac is started

    I am unable to change the wallpaper of the login screen when restarted. I read many articles and tried the UUID method but that is not working either.

    Please let me know if any of you have an alternate method that is working

    Mouse does not feel natural

    Recently bought a Macbook air M1 along with a USB-C hub so that I can plug a wired mouse in however it doesn't feel natural at all.

    When I move the mouse cursor and then I slow it down it feels like it's slowing more than it should and it's really annoying.

    I have tried lots of different settings such as adjusting tracking speed but the issue remains.

    Anyone got any idea on how to fix this problem?

    Mouse is Cougar Minos x3.

    Preview keeps freezing

    Hey, so I recently updated my Macbook Pro (2019) to 11.3 und ever since Preview keeps freezing after a while. Tbh the problem could have existed beforehand, but coincidentally I just realised it after the update. Sometimes it happens when I search for something within a pdf, other times when I click on a link in a pdf, other times when I mark some text. It basically does not matter what I do, after a while all I see is the beachball.

    So does anyone have any suggestions as to what I could do? Is there a way to reset Preview or give it a fresh install (the last one seems to be tricky as it is part of the OS)?

    Any help is greatly appreciated!

    I just got a MacBook Air. I've never owned anything Mac other than an iPhone. Is ublock origin available for safari? If not can you please recommend something else?
