With an empty seat next to me this was honestly not bad, and I got a lot of work done on the flight! Cover of my 11” case fit right into the info pocket thingy.

I just want basic Applecare on my new iPad, does it even exist anymore?

    Posted: 06 May 2021 04:34 AM PDT

So I bought an iPad on Saturday and went to grab the basic extended warranty I usually get on my Apple devices, but I'm only seeing Applecare+. I'm not interested in the plus version at all, I don't need to cover it for accidental damage. I had the three year extended warranty on my macbook Air and wanted to grab it for my new device.

Is there a diary designed for freehand writing with Apple Pencil?

    Posted: 05 May 2021 11:30 PM PDT

Does anybody know if there is an app to daily write down whatever's going through my mind with the pencil? I looked up a few options but they are all based on keyboard typing and work productivity and I want to just write down my thoughts freehand in an organised place, the notes app just gets too disorganised and messy after a while

Will it damage my 2020 iPad Pro to use a 96W USB-C Power Adapter to charge it?

    Posted: 06 May 2021 01:28 PM PDT

I just got the iPad a couple weeks ago and already lost the charger. I went to the local simply Mac store and the employee was out of the standard ones that came with the iPad but sold me a 96W charging brick, but now I'm kind of nervous. Is it gonna damage my battery to leave my iPad on that charger overnight as opposed to the one it came with?

If anyone uses writing apps like GoodNotes or Notability, these two work on older iOS 9. The first one is InkFlow. Second is MetaMoJi Note.

I have the new Logitech Combo Touch for iPad Pro 11" and the Magic Keyboard. AMA!

    Posted: 05 May 2021 02:21 PM PDT

I have the new Logitech Combo Touch for iPad Pro 11" and the Magic Keyboard. AMA!

Ordered the new Logitech Combo Touch for my new iPad Pro 11 and it just arrived today. Also saw over the weekend that Amazon had the Magic keyboard on sale for the same price, $200. So now I'm in possession of both, and will return whichever one I don't like. I don't have an iPad to test it out with, so my initial thoughts are entirely based on feel and appearance. Ask me in the comments if you have any other questions about these two keyboards!

    Logitech Combo Touch Pros:

    • Texture feels really nice, almost like denim jeans with a higher thread count
    • Function row!
    • The trackpad is much larger than the Magic Keyboard, and it's click-anywhere just like the MK
    • The keys take less pressure to actuate; which for me is a pro, but you might have a different preference
    • The palm rest area is bigger and the keys are ever so slightly bigger, which makes it easier to type on if you rest your palms when typing
    • The keyboard is detachable while still leaving the iPad protected in a case.
    • Cheaper price when the Magic Keyboard eventually returns to its normal price
    • More angles of adjustment with the kickstand

    Logitech Cons:

    • Not as good in the lap
    • Design is less eye catching; looks like a Microsoft Surface when extended
    • Takes up more desk area
    • Not an Apple product, if you care about having a 100% cohesive design
    • A bit thicker than the MK when closed, although it's hard to tell without an iPad to test with it
    • I can't see any apparent caps lock light

    Magic Keyboard Pros:

    • Passthrough USB-C for charging
    • Smooth and satisfying hinge
    • Amazing and futuristic design
    • Clicker keys
    • While top heavy (so I'm told), it's still better for lap users

    Magic Keyboard Cons:

    • $100 more expensive when not on sale
    • Smaller area to rest your palms when typing, which makes typing feel crammed
    • Keys are slightly smaller than the Logitech and the trackpad is significantly smaller
    • Sides are exposed when in the case
    • No way to take the iPad off the keyboard while still having it protected in a case (although third party cases are available that are compatible with the magic keyboard)

    Similarities:

    • Both weigh about the same
    • Both trackpads are click-anywhere
    • Both use the smart connector and have backlit keys

Even though they are the same price right now, I think I'm leaning towards the Logitech. It feels more durable, and I like that it can be used in tablet mode without taking the case off. Definitely gonna miss the USB-C passthrough though. If you have any other thoughts, or if I missed something please let me know!

Will smart folios for the ipad pro 11 2020 work with the ipad pro 11 2021? Why are there specific smart folios for the 3rd gen on the apple website?

    Posted: 06 May 2021 02:59 AM PDT

So as far as i am concerned the 2020 11 inch version looks identical from the outside as the 2021 version. My question is, and i find this a bit confusing, will cases for the second gen work for the third gen? If yes, why does apple provide a specific folio for the 3rd gen? Are the magnets ordered in another way or something like that?

Are there any downsides of using a 2nd Gen folio on a 3rd gen device?

    Like Procreate but for text?

    Posted: 05 May 2021 03:10 PM PDT

I have never been an artist, and I don't draw well either on paper or digitally, so my desire for this software is something akin to art therapy.

I was wondering if there was an app like Procreate that I can use to create "art" that is mostly text-based. Like writing my favorite quotes or lines of poetry in a way that's appealing or meaningful.

I don't know if I'm making much sense but I hope someone will be able to understand me and point me in the right direction.

    iPad Pro to external monitor

    Posted: 05 May 2021 04:36 PM PDT

Just ordered a new pro 12.9 and wondering about external monitors. With a thunderbolt to DisplayPort cable, can I use my Samsung 49 inch (1440p) as an external monitor?

We recently switched to iPad based software for my medical practice's EMR and would be great to be able to have mri's and whatnot up on the screen with my EMR. Currently have my desktop running separate from an iPad Air and somewhat cumbersome running between them

Is it worth it to update my iPad Pro 9.7-inch to iPadOS 14?

    Posted: 06 May 2021 02:30 AM PDT

Hello everyone. I'm asking you this question because my iPad is 5 years old now, running iPadOS 13, and I'm skeptical about updating to the latest iPadOS 14.5 version. The reason why is that I'm worried it could worsen my battery life even more. Does anyone still use a 9.7-inch iPad Pro until now running iPadOS 14.5? If yes, let me know about your experience. Thank you.
