for those with 14.5.1 is your phone slowed down or throttled? Posted: 11 May 2021 06:57 AM PDT i have a 12 pro max and with antutubenchmark the usual common score for that is 600k+ after getting 14.5.1 noticed slow downs and lags and run a benchmark and got a score of 300k+ almost half of my phone speed. confirmed this by running rebooting and running the benchmark again its still slow so i saw some post saying their phone who is on the same version experienced the same. i installed 14.6 beta 3 and can confirm this is fixed there. my antutu benchmark went from 300k post 14.5.1 to 615k on 14.6 beta 3. do a benchmark on yours and you should be able to confirm that this theory is correct. Considering Jumping From Android to iPhone - But Paralyzed on Which One To Choose Posted: 11 May 2021 07:08 AM PDT I used to own an iPhone 4s way back then, and I loved that little thing. It was awesome. It was next-level. But after that I made the switch to Android and have used various Android phones since. At that time I was quite happy, and it seemed to be truly better, especially in terms of price. But now there's something about the iPhone 12 that has my interest. It's truly not just "Apple fanboy hype" anymore. There's really something to these things. While buying a new phone a couple weeks ago, I rushed myself into buying a decent (but not the best) Android, despite now having the income to justify a higher-end phone. Since buying the phone, I've had this creeping voice in my head going "iPhone iPhone iPhone iPhone." Not literal whispers. But you know what I mean. Going back to the iPhone shop today I was blown away. I never gave the new iPhones a chance. I was too quick to judge the different features (ie. notches at top, swiping up to return to home screen, no buttons, etc.). Today was different. In my Heart I loved all of these new features. It just felt so right. It was fast, crisp, clear, and the video quality blew me away. I never realized how damn good these things take video, especially moving videos. I was sold then, but now I've found myself paralyzed between the iPhone 12, Pro, and Mini. The Pro Max is out of the question due to size. I spent the next several hours playing with the phones, thinking, talking to my girlfriend, and pacing around the mall and then researching pros and cons. Honestly, I feel torn. And it doesn't help that the Apple shops (at least in my country, not sure about USA) only let you try iPhones attached to a bulky anti-theft security thing, so you can't really fully feel it as it truly is. I love that the iPhone 12 & Pro are more "normal sized," whereas most Androids are elongated and prone to slipping out of shallow pockets. The mini felt SO good in my hand, and I loved that I could easily move around between apps & click around with one hand. From here, I'm paralyzed. So I'm hoping some of you guys can help sell me on the one that's meant for me. Can someone please help me figure out which one I should buy? I'm ready to join the Apple cult. My iPhone Mini Impressions Holding it felt incredible. Love the lightness. I live a very active life (motorcycling, hiking, caving, etc. are my day-to-day life) and I am in love with the portability of this thing. My hands are below average in size too, so it just feels right. My concerns are twofold: first and foremost the battery life. It's got a very small battery inside. The last thing I need is the phone dying before sundown out on an expedition. The second issue is whether I'll be able to type easily. Using 2 hands it seems to be too tight, but I wonder if a case would provide more breathing room for the thumbs. Despite living an active life I am a big techie also, spending several hours a day on social media, watching YouTube, and derping around on the phone. So it's not like the phone would be dormant all day. I'd be taking photos, videos, texting, and maybe playing music all at the same time. I emotionally REALLY want this phone, it's cute, portable, and appears to be a more "human" phone. But I'd like to know just how bad the battery life really is and if the super-small keyboard a deal-breaker or not. iPhone 12 & Pro Impressions iPhone 12 seems awesome all-around. It's about the same width as my current Android but less longer, which I love. It's "normal-sized," not weirdly elongated. The Pro's camera totally blew me away, specifically video stabilization. I can just imagine how much excitement I'd have with either the iPhone 12 or Pro taking the first video ever of an expedition into an unknown cave on the side of a mountain me and my team just scaled. My only hesitance with the Pro is the added weight; it's a bit heavier than my current Android, whereas the iPhone 12 is lighter. Again, it's hard to tell how annoying this would be (or lack of annoyance) in reality because I've never held an iPhone without anti-theft security shit attached to it bulking it up and adding weight. The extra battery life & camera has my attention for the Pro, but I feel like the iPhone 12 would be just enough. The difference in camera doesn't seem to be THAT much. While I'm an adventurer, I'm NOT a photographer, so the iPhone 12 is probably OK. What Do You Recommend, and What Do You Use & Why? In short I adventure frequently but also use the phone for YouTube, social media, texting, photos & videos (not professionally, but the quality is stunning). I'm blown away by iPhone 12 models but I'm completely paralyzed in making a decision. The Mini is portable & sweet, but potentially lacking in battery & texting, whereas the 12 is great all-around, and the Pro would be best for photos/videos but at greater cost & weight. Thanks in advance everyone. [link] [comments]
How does iPhone manage accounts and apps? Posted: 11 May 2021 06:06 AM PDT I am an android user (Pixel 2XL) and in my company, I managed to get our team phone that we use for testing apps (iPhone 8), and I will use it personally to try the iOS. Now, as this phone is a team phone we have a team account. What does it mean now, if I just sign in with my apple account and message and call, when I switch back to the team account, will those messages and call log to stay? Or is it better to just delete all, use it personally and then erase it all again and do a fresh install? Can I store apps? [link] [comments]
Jotty - pdf viewer and annotation app implementation Posted: 11 May 2021 04:17 AM PDT So last year, I was working on this PDF viewer and annotation iOS app. I have not worked on it for many months now and doubt if I will anytime soon. Therefore, I have decided to open the source code. Hopefully someone may find it useful. ios #pdfmanagement[link] [comments]
Mail app using wrong alias when replying to emails Posted: 11 May 2021 06:40 AM PDT I have three email aliases on my imap account. We'll call them login@example.com, me@example.com, and otherme@example.com. login is only used as the login username. I never use it. me is set as the default address When I send an email from scratch, the mail app selects me@example.com as the from address. That's good. But when I reply to an email that was received to me@example.com, the mail app selects otherme@example.com as the from address, not the default, and not the address that the email I am replying to was received with. Is this just me? iOS 14.5.1 [link] [comments]
Safari won’t load websites when connected to LTE (IPhone SE 2020) Posted: 11 May 2021 05:39 AM PDT I've cleared the cache. I've done a hard reset. I turned off all experimental features for safari. Apps are working. Safari won't load websites. It's just a blank screen that eventually times out. Any other suggestions? [link] [comments]
Siri's Speech Inaudible or Cuts Off Unless in Low Power Mode Posted: 11 May 2021 05:29 AM PDT I have an issue with Siri that co-incides with the update to 14.5.1. Siri responds to requests on-screen, whether through 'Hey Siri' or a button press, but the response is either inaudible or cuts off after the first few words. I have tried:
The issue goes away in low power mode, and Siri once again works perfectly. I have no idea why, but low power mode sorts the whole thing out, and Siri responds as you'd expect, every time. So… does anyone know why, and more importantly, is there any way of getting Siri to work in normal power mode again? [link] [comments]
All Third-Party Apps Are Crashing Posted: 11 May 2021 05:07 AM PDT So for about a year now all third-party apps have been crashing about two times per week, for a 30 minute period each time. It started before iOS 14, around the summer of 2020, on my iPhone. I had to deal with it for a few months. It happened randomly, where if I was using an app it would suddenly freeze, crash, and all the other third-party apps would crash as well. The scary part is that this problem started to show up on my 2019 iPad. Then, when I got an iPhone 11 earlier this year, the problem then showed up on my new phone. Additionally, during this "app crash" period, when I click my profile in iOS settings, I can't open the "password and security" tabs underneath my profile photo. I don't have any credit card or money on the Apple ID, so I don't have much to lose, but I do have a lot of photos, etc. I'm not sure if it's a hack or some weird issue, but I've contacted Apple twice and they pretty much can't help me. Am I hacked? Should I make a new Apple ID? TLDR: All third-party apps are crashing once/twice per week, started on iPhone but now on 3 apple devices, Apple couldn't really help. Thank you [link] [comments]

Posted: 11 May 2021 06:58 AM PDT Since updating to iOS 14.5.1 I have been experiencing a bug. When I ask Siri somethings he/she says 1 - 3 words and then stops talking (also sometimes makes a short cracking sound). The same happens when I select text and click on "speak". I hear a few words and then it goes quite. I've never had this issue before. I restarted my phone and even swiped away all my background apps (I never do that). Other audio like music or videos works normal. Does anyone know what I can do to fix it? (I use the iPhone 11 Pro Max) [link] [comments]
Feature idea: use AppleWatch height detection for location based services Posted: 11 May 2021 05:24 AM PDT I notice that I use very specific apps whenever I'm in certain rooms on a house floor. My bathroom and toilet are at the first floor, while my bedroom and living room are at the second floor. Wouldn't it be great if IOS (spotlight) app suggestions were also learning from those floor defined behaviors? [link] [comments]
Apps freezing upon first opening . IOS 14.5 iPhone 11. Posted: 11 May 2021 01:05 AM PDT It seems every other time I open an app it freezes instantly and I have to close out of it then open it again . It's getting extremely annoying . Anyone else have this problem and does it persist on iOS 14.5.1? [link] [comments]
Is it possible to filter photos based on orientation? Posted: 11 May 2021 12:04 AM PDT In the iOS photos app I want to search for photos based on orientation such as landscape or portrait. How is this basic filter not possible? I can't even find an iPhone app that will organize photos this way. Am I searching for this wrong? This seems crazy to me that it doesn't exist... Posted: 10 May 2021 11:50 PM PDT Can anyone please help me with how to use 'Messages' on my iPhone? I am having two issues. Firstly, there appears to be a space headed 'Subject' at the top of each message which doesn't seem to allow for writing to, which kind of begs the question as to why it's there? Likewise, I'm finding that in spite of plenty of memory/ space on my Messages, those messages are failing to send, being left with a red heading 'Not Delivered'? Can anyone tell me what that's about. Lastly, any helpful (preferably free) sites with information on using 'Messages' on the iPhone? Thanks [link] [comments]
Safari/Any other browser keeps crashing when watching videos Posted: 10 May 2021 11:14 PM PDT So the cause of this crash: I started to watch anime/movies on sites like Fmovies, Gogoanime, and 9anime, and every time, I watch the video, and always after a minute or 2, my browser crashes. I've tried using DuckDuckGo, and Google apps to see if it was just safari but no luck there. This has never happened until recently. The only solution I've found is that if I go to the download links for the specific episode of the anime I'm watching, and view it from there, it doesn't crash. But for movies, Fmovies doesn't have a download option so kinda stuck here. [link] [comments]
Cell service randomly drops and won’t connect back? Posted: 10 May 2021 10:49 PM PDT I have an iPhone 12 and after updating to iOS 14.5 my cell service would randomly drop and only way to fix this is restarting the phone to reset network settings. I tried restoring my phone but still have this problem. I tried wifi calling but it won't connect to WiFi calling. Anyone else have this issue? [link] [comments]

Anyone has issue typing or keyboard not registering quick touches, repeatedly? Posted: 10 May 2021 09:16 PM PDT I'm somewhat used to typing really fast on mobile keyboard and I noticed and I have been able to repeatedly reproduce this but my backspace key is irresponsive- almost as if the tap is not registering as the first touch happened when the swipe(to type) was still completing. I have to slow my tap or pause those taps and re-tap for it to work. That part of screen register touches only when things are done fast I notice this. Has anyone noticed these blank taps that don't yield keys? I managed to get it on tape and will add YouTube link on what I found. Strange names in family purchases bug? Posted: 10 May 2021 04:47 PM PDT I have never activated family sharing on any of my devices. When looking at my profile in the Books app, a section called family purchases comes up with names I've never seen before. Each time it refreshes it's a different name. One time it was Theresa. Another time it said Luiz Fernando. Another time it had one Amy and three Roy's. Sometimes the family purchases section doesn't show up. When I tap the name to see their purchases, it's all of my purchases. It's my first time seeing this and was wondering if anyone else has encountered this bug? [link] [comments] |
