Texts being sent as iMessages Posted: 05 May 2021 07:53 AM PDT This is a recent issue. I have a 2009 MacBook Pro running Yosemite 10.10.5. It is no longer upgradeable. I have the messages app on my desktop, configured to work with iMessage and SMS. Just recently, every text I try to send to my husband, who has a non-Apple phone (I think it's a Pixel but not sure) started going to his iPad/iMessage account. Messages sent on my phone go through SMS to his phone with no problem. I can't figure out where on the desktop app to make a change that will remove his iMessage account from the Contact. Apple Online Store Payment Failed Posted: 05 May 2021 07:48 PM PDT I'm trying to buy a new phone from the Apple UK website. When I go to place the order it says that there was an issue with my payment and my order is on hold. I've contacted my bank and they have sat with me while trying to pay again and on their side they can see that their servers have authorised my payment but that the store hasn't taken anything from my account, and then the website says that my payment failed again. I've also tried with 2 other cards to no avail... The Apple server status site says that everything is working as normal. Anyone have any ideas? I've also checked to make sure my billing address is correct on my account. It's after midnight here in the UK and Apple support aren't open right now that's why I've come to reddit. Video quality compression issue on iMessage Posted: 05 May 2021 07:45 PM PDT Hello, Two video files stored in iMessage on my mac book were 1080p and now they are suddenly 480p. I am assuming compression of large files is not uncommon, however I do not have the videos on anywhere but here and I cannot figure out how to revert the quality to 1080p. IPhone won’t erase all contents? Posted: 05 May 2021 07:30 PM PDT I'm trying to reset my iPhone X to sell. I've turned off FindMy and signed out of iCloud however whenever I hit "Erase all contents and settings" it will go to the Apple logo as though it's starting to erase but then it will just go back to my lock screen and everything is still the same, even the passcode. Can I use adaptor for new mac? Posted: 05 May 2021 04:45 PM PDT Hi guys! I just bought the new 2020 M1 Mac Air. It arrived in the mail today. My problem is that since it's imported from the US, the plug is different. I have an adaptor from another device that fits my country's plug (it's also an apple adaptor, so it fits on their slide mechanism). Why does copying files fail? Posted: 05 May 2021 08:13 PM PDT Late 2013 MBP, High Sierra 10.13.6 I'm trying to move a large number of files from one external drive to another but I keep running into errors. For example, I'll try to move over a folder that contains 2TB of files and I'll let it run overnight. When I wake up in the morning, I'll just get a message saying that it failed because of some vague reason with no indication of where the copying stopped. There are too many files and folders to manually compare. When I try to Get Info on the folders, the numbers don't match up but 1. this seems to always be the case even when the copy is successful, and 2. the numbers are higher on the new drive. I've tried moving things in smaller chunks (e.g. 200GB at a time) but I still get errors. Any best practices on copying a large number of files? submitted by /u/Significant-Amoeba [link] [comments]

Airtag safety alerts Posted: 05 May 2021 02:04 PM PDT So my wife and I share a car that has an Airtag attached to the keys and it's paired to her iCloud account. We are also in the same family sharing account, too. Apples websites says that you can permanently stop getting safety alerts from people in your iCloud family but when I pause the alerts I only get the option to disable for the day, not indefinitely. Is there something I'm missing here? Edit: So on my sons iPhone we also received the same alert but this time the alert identified it as belonging to my wife and we had the option to ignore indefinitely. However, getting the alert on my phone mentions nothing about my wife and I still don't have the option to pause indefinitely. Worryingly low (Geekbench) benchmark score on iPhone 12 Pro Max (iOS 14.5.1) Posted: 05 May 2021 03:57 PM PDT I recently did a Geekbench CPU test on my iPhone 12 Pro Max running iOS 14.5.1 and the scores are worringly low...(lower even than the average for an iPhone XS Max)... I have disabled low power mode by the way (even when my battery is low it doesn't use low power mode)...and I even tried restarting my phone and retesting...but the scores won't budge... I got a 1283 Single-Core Score (compared to the average of 1591) And I got a 2364 Multi-Core Score (compared to the average of 4106). To put it into perspective...the average Multi-Core score for an iPhone XS Max is 2450 and I'm getting 2364 on an iPhone 12 Pro Max. That is very worrying to say the least! And the iPhone SE (2nd Generation) gets a 1322 Single-Core average while I only got a 1283 Single-Core score on an iPhone 12 Pro Max! Again, that is very worrying. Any idea why this is? Duplicating items in powerpoint for mac Posted: 05 May 2021 07:29 PM PDT Hi all. I'm using my first ever mac, after being a life long windows user. It's the latest m1 macbook air with the latest updates. I'm encountering a really weird issue with Powerpoint (office 365 version) for Mac, where trying to move an element like an icon or a text box around a slide regularly duplicates the element, leaving the original in it's place and moving a newly created element. It happens very often, but not every time I select to move something. I cannot for the life of me figure out a pattern to when it happens. All I am doing is using the trackpad to click an element, then clicking and draging. About half the time it simply moves the element, the other half, it creates a duplicate. Tv and MacBook air won't connect Posted: 05 May 2021 01:31 PM PDT I got an hdmi cord and the right adapter but when I plug them in and switch between channels all of them say no signal.
