    Asymmetry in multiplayer games

    Posted: 24 Mar 2021 03:41 AM PDT

Hey everyone. I just wanted to let you all know that today as part of the Game Industry club on Clubhouse app we do a design dive every week with Academics and Industry Veterans in AAA/Indie.

    https://www.joinclubhouse.com/event/xkawjNJG

Here's the link to the event.

I understand not everyone may have access to Clubhouse and unfortunately we cannot record as it's a violation of the platform's TOS but I will be writing up a summary and sharing for everyone who cannot make it.

    Battle Royale Game Request

    Posted: 24 Mar 2021 11:00 AM PDT

    Hey all,

I've been playing Zooba and I was wondering if anyone could suggest any other BR games similar to this.

I've played CODM, PUBG, ROS.. but I'm strictly looking for this kind of cartoon style, top-down, style similar to Zooba.

    Thanks in advance!

    Looking for a F2P idle-ish builder game

    Posted: 23 Mar 2021 07:49 PM PDT

As the title says, I'm looking for a F2P idle-ish builder game. What this means:

    • A game that is free and doesn't require micro transactions (or continually watching ads - looking at you idle tycoon games) to progress (edit: it can of course have micro transactions and ads. But they aren't necessary for progression).

    • Idle in the sense that things run their course while I'm not looking at it. Maybe we are waiting for something to build. Maybe this means that there are some tasks that need to be done that are timed. Or just making $. Some building games only progress when you are on the screen. But I still want to be able to do things when I am on screen.

    • I want to have some nice visible progression. Perhaps I am building a town or a city, or maybe a theme park? Who knows.

    • Games that I have tried: I have recently dabbled in the Disney magic kingdom and it's interesting but seems a little too young for me. Not too sure if the type of game is what I'm looking for - it might be. I also tried Jurassic world but didn't like the heavy emphasis on battling. As noted I tried and hated the idle tycoon games as you just need to watch ads to progress. And you start over every time.

    Would love your recommendations!

Easy way to filter controller supported games?

    Posted: 23 Mar 2021 05:36 PM PDT

Hey folks, is there anyway to filter or easily identify what games support controller input? I am aware of various sites that list games but I was hoping for something in the App Store to help

What are some good turn based strategy games to play against my friends?

    Posted: 23 Mar 2021 02:05 PM PDT

I've just discovered Polytopia, a minimalistic turn based strategy game based on the 4X premise.

    The target audience

Polytopia is a great game to play against my father, sister and brother in law since we all live busy lives and we get 24 hours each per turn. A game can take a week but that's not an issue for us.

The simple mechanics and graphics also makes it a great fit for us since I'm the only "gamer" in the family, but the others enjoy board games and making strategic decisions in general.

Requirements - iOS and Android cross play (this is critical) - 24 hour turn timer (or more) - Strategic, intelligence and game knowledge should win, not quick reflexes or grinding

    My question

What are some other good games we could play if we would grow bored of Polytopia?

Not enough good games on ios...

    Posted: 23 Mar 2021 05:09 PM PDT

Most of the things on the App Store are either knock offs of games, crappy indie games that have loads of advertisements in them and were made using Unity store assets, or pay to play garbage.

Not all of the games are bad, there are a few REAL games on the app store such as Minecraft, Terraria, Stardew Valley, GTA games, Max Payne, COD Mobile, etc. But Everything else is just garbage made by scammers who only made it for money.

Seriously, WHERE are the actual GAMES?! IOS has always had this issue and it needs to stop. We need to get rid of the shit games from bad developers and we need GOOD developers who have experience in game companies to make games for the appstore.

I think another issue is that most of the games that are on the phone are made specifically for the phone, and because of this, they always follow what is trendy as a phone game. They never make the games thinking about cool ideas or inspiration, They think because it's a phone game that they shouldn't take it seriously like games on any other console or platform.

It's also because all the big or professional developers/companies aren't even bothering porting their games to Iphone or Android.. Why don't we have Fallout, Half Life, or Resident Evil on IOS?
