M1 MacBook Pro dead and won’t switch back on Posted: 25 Mar 2021 12:52 PM PDT I was watching YouTube videos through safari and the screen suddenly glitched out, so did the audio and then the laptop itself switched off. Now I can no longer turn the laptop on. One interesting thing is that about every 10-20 pushes on the trackpad causes there to be a very faint haptic feedback. Already spoken to Apple tech and tried numerous ways to reboot, no luck. Going in for a genius appt this Sunday. I'm wondering has anyone else had this issue ? I only ask since the laptop is literally less than a month old. Was using big sur 11.2.3. Tia! [link] [comments]
MacBook Pro (early 2015) keeps freezing up Posted: 25 Mar 2021 08:29 PM PDT Basically what the title says, my 2015 MacBook Pro has began freezing and going completely unresponsive. Any advice on what I can do to fix it (if anything?) [link] [comments]
quicktime screen recording will not work Posted: 25 Mar 2021 07:19 PM PDT When I try screen recording on my macbook The screen recording only stays for about a few seconds before randomly stopping. How do i fix this issue?? Thank you very much [link] [comments]
I bought my Macbook Pro M1 only 3 weeks ago, and it seems to be dying already? Posted: 25 Mar 2021 08:55 AM PDT I work on it daily from 10 A.M to about midnight, and the battery never goes under 30%, the macbook is always cold, no overheating, no fan sounds, nothing. Today I start working on it, and I immediately notice the fact that it's not cold like usual, but rather a bit hot, but I didn't think much of it. I work on it from 11 AM to about 4 PM, and notice that my battery went from 100% to 15%???? How is that possible when everyday it never goes under 30% even when I use it until midnight? I only use Google & Skype on my computer, nothing else, no other programs in the background. I found "Chrome crashpad handler" was using 100% of my CPU so I forced it to shutdown, but not sure if that's the real reason behind this whole thing. Any ideas? [link] [comments]

Going from a Mid 2010 MacBook Pro to a 2020 MacBook Air - what have I missed out on? Posted: 25 Mar 2021 02:52 PM PDT So as the title says - after nearly eleven years of heavy usage and multiple upgrades and replacement of pretty much everything except for the display and the motherboard, I'm gonna receive a brand new MacBook Air 2020 tomorrow. As far as I remember support for the Mid 2010 MBP ended with High Sierra. I actually have Mojave running on mine for the night mode, but other than that I have no idea what sweet stuff MacBooks are able to do today, that I have completely missed out on. Posted: 25 Mar 2021 11:21 AM PDT I kinda like the butterfly keys, i just needed to say that. I absolutely love typing on my 2017 macbook pro, and i feel like the shallow key travel makes me type faster. I see why Apple discontinued it, cause it eventually shows a lot of problem, but im surely gonna miss it in the future. What do you think about it? [link] [comments]

Brand New M1 MacBook Air - Battery Service Recomended? Posted: 25 Mar 2021 04:25 PM PDT I just got (3 days ago) an M1 MacBook Air. After three days of use I've just gotten around to clicking the battery icon at the top and I notice an alert "Service Recommended. Power Source: Battery"... Battery health still shows the maximum capacity as 100%, and as I said this machine is *brand new*. I thought that my battery usage isn't as crazily exceptional as what I saw flaunted for the M1's before I purchased it, but it's still fine. I've been on for around 2+ hours now and am at 94%. I'd consider that normal. Is this a glitch or a manufacturing issue perhaps? [link] [comments]
Late 2011 17" MBP Higher Resolution Screen Replacement? Posted: 25 Mar 2021 03:48 PM PDT Long-time lurker hoping for some help from the MBP connoisseurs on here. My baby, my pride and joy, is a 2011 2.4GHz i7 17" MBP that I've had since 2012. I've completed some minor hardware upgrades over the years (1TB SSD to replace 750GB HDD, 4GB => 8GB => 16GB RAM upgrade), but I've found myself craving a higher screen resolution than the stock 1920x1200. Does anyone know of the possibility/feasibility of replacing the stock panel on my MBP with a higher resolution one? If so, how should I go about it? Thanks in advance! [link] [comments]
New M1 Macbook pro 13 inch trackpad issue Posted: 25 Mar 2021 03:07 PM PDT So I just received the new macbook via mail, as I started to use I noticed the trackpad makes bit louder than usual clicking noise like something is not clicking right, and I thought its probably normal for new macs however as I started editing a video and using the trackpad and using 3 finger drag amongst other gestures, I straight hear like a little motors moving noise underneath and it happens when I use 3 finger drag and if you let go it makes a less noticeable sound, but sound nonetheless. I pressed around and it seemed like the noise went off, but it came back a second time, and now its off again and working like normal. So my guess is, the trackpad has to be silent, and the noises I am hearing are not normal for new macs. My previous macbook was a 2012 so, a big upgrade to current, the only thing I am not nowhere near an apple store I guess I may have to make the trip and take it to the store. I am posting in here just in case anyone else experience a rotor like noise underneath the trackpad. Other than that I am just getting used to the newness. If anyone has any advice or comments or has experienced this issue before please let me know. :) [link] [comments]

Posted: 25 Mar 2021 03:05 PM PDT I want to change some of the keys on the keyboard to other colors (figured it will look coolk), but I cant seem to find any places selling keys in orher colors or something.. Is there anywhere to buy, and is it even possible to use other keys? [link] [comments]
Charging M1 MacBook through usb-c hub after 11.2.2 update Posted: 25 Mar 2021 02:57 PM PDT Apple said it fixed the bricking problem of the M1 MacBooks that charged through usb-c hubs with the 11.2.2 update. For the brave souls that have actually tried charging their MacBook after the update, have you had any problems? [link] [comments]
Posted: 25 Mar 2021 02:09 PM PDT Hello! In the past few weeks the bluetooth on my 2015 13" MacBook Air seems to be broken. When I'm on Zoom/google hangouts/teams/FB video call, my bluetooth always shuts off. I lose my connection through my AirPods, Beats, wireless keyboard, and wireless mouse. This only happens when I'm on a video call, never when I'm just using my computer. Wondering if anyone has any suggestions on how to fix this? I tried doing a full Bluetooth reset where I deleted all the bluetooth trails. The computer is up to date and had the battery replaced November 2020 where they ran a full diagnostic test and everything was working well. [link] [comments]
M1 Macbook Pro - multiple external monitors question Posted: 25 Mar 2021 01:33 PM PDT Hey folks, I just got one of the new M1 Macbook Pro models and realized it doesn't natively support multiple external monitors, but have been reading about the workarounds with DisplayLink. Here's my current hardware setup: 1 M1 Macbook Pro 2x 1080p external monitors with HDMI and VGA ports 2x this VAVA USB C hub: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B079GSMZ7G Both hubs are connected to the Thunderbolt ports on my Macbook, and I have each monitor connected to the HDMI port in the VAVA adapter, but, as expected, only 1 monitor shows video output. I have the DisplayLink software installed on my Mac, but it doesn't show any monitors connected. Based on my understanding of DisplayLink and the workaround, it requires the 2nd external monitor to be connected via some kind of USB->HDMI adapter. If I bought something like this and connected it to one of the VAVA adapters' USB ports, would that enable DisplayLink to pick up the 2nd external monitor? Thanks! [link] [comments]
Help, ¿Macbook Air M1 vs Pro M1? Posted: 25 Mar 2021 11:55 AM PDT Good afternoon, I need help in choosing for my university and studies between the Pro or Air, both with 256ssd and 8gb ram, in my country the difference between these is almost 500 dollars, (macbook air 1500usd and macbook pro 2000usd approximately in Chile) I have never I had a macbook and generally I will use it for studies and edit some video from my gopro or play hearthsone as hobbies, any recommendations? Thank you! [link] [comments]
Protecting Macbook in bag with 30+ lbs of books? Posted: 25 Mar 2021 11:31 AM PDT My old laptop got the keyboard etched into the screen rather quickly, as I didn't consider the impact of keeping it in my backpack with a ton of books + sometimes dust/debris. I'm getting a new 13" M1 macbook air. How is best to protect it? [link] [comments]
Posted: 25 Mar 2021 11:16 AM PDT So I have a Macbook Pro (15 inch, 2018) Processor: 2.2GHz 6-Core Intel Core i7 Memory: 16 GB 2400 MHz DDR4 Graphics: Radeon Pro 555X 4GB Intel UHD Graphics 630 1536 MB Here is where I need some clarity. I have a 10% student discount Apparently, I can trade this macbook in to Apple for $980 Credit and get the M1 13 inch for "free". I''m not very literate computer parts wise, but I've seen the m1 Air making previous MBP's look like a joke. I mainly use my MBP for coding, day trading, and at times I will record and edit gaming videos with varying degrees of freezing and stuttering. Is this a deal I should be considering? Especially under the assumption the M1 Air will have a better resell value than my current MBP when the new line up this year comes out? [link] [comments]

Trade in i7 Intel MBP for M1 MBP then trade M1 in for M2 MBP? Posted: 25 Mar 2021 08:53 AM PDT Hey guys, I'm in a bit of a dilemma. Currently, I'm using a 2020 i7 MBP 16GB. I'm in the market for a new MBP because I'm very disappointed with the battery and performance on my Intel. I've got about 85% of max charge and it's been less than a year. I've heard the new MBP's are extremely fast and have good batteries. So I'm considering trading in my Intel ($1300 in Apple trade in) for a 16GB M1 MBP. However, what I really want is the new 14 inch MBP coming out later this year with the huge design overhaul. I've heard a lot of rumors where Intel Macs will start tanking in value (bought mine at $2000). I'm worried that if I hold out for the M2's, my Intel MBP will be significantly undervalued. Whereas if I trade it in for an M1 MBP and then trade that in for the newer M2's, it'll hold more of its value. Am I wrong? PS: I'm a STEM university student. [link] [comments]
USB-C Hub allowing power and HDMI in/out but not USB-A inputs Posted: 25 Mar 2021 08:44 AM PDT I bought this USB-C hub from Amazon around a year ago and have been using it with no issues for that time. However, recently the USB-A inputs are not working, even though the same devices function when plugged in with a different adaptor. The power in and HDMI out still work. The only advice I could find online was to reset my SMC, which I have done, but that really didn't change anything. For context, I'm on a 2019 MacBook Air. [link] [comments]
Question Involving Backlit Keyboard | MacBook Air M1 Posted: 25 Mar 2021 08:30 AM PDT Hello! The other day I received my M1 MacBook Air. I love it thus far! One thing about it has been bothering me. The "C" on the "ESC/ESCAPE" key is not as bright as the other letters. It looks normal when you look at it from the side. You notice it when you look at it from above/while you are normally typing. I have played around with the keyboard brightness. It goes up/down no problem. Is this by design? Is your keyboard the same? Is mine defective? Am I just being paranoid? Is it my mind playing tricks on me? Thank you! Note: I understand that this might be a difficult question to answer without a picture. I only want to go to the Apple Store if I have to, as you have to make an appointment/it is a few hours away. [link] [comments] |
