I keep getting random calls for a 6-digit 2FA code, but I didn't just try to sign in. Posted: 11 Mar 2021 09:30 PM PST Obviously this sends up huge red flags, but
Is there a way to see where these login attempts are coming from, or something like that? I'd really love to know if my account is compromised. [link] [comments] |
Posted: 11 Mar 2021 07:07 PM PST This has only started happening the last month or so. I have a late 2015 27inch iMac that has been freezing up, usually if I'm running a youtube video or I have a streaming channel on, and then I have to wait like 5 minutes for the reboot, mainly because the bar below the apple logo takes forever to load up. It feels like the 1990s when I had a dial up PC and I had to wait a long time for the internet to load up. Anyway, it eventually gets to working normally again but I was wondering if I have to start thinking about the possibility of a failing graphics card or some internal failings going on with the main board. I don't have any budget for repairs right now so I guess I'm looking for advice on what I can troubleshoot in the meanwhile without any financial investment. I have a 1TB hard drive, just a regular traditional hard drive, not the Solid State one. I'm currently running Catalina(not even sure if its latest edition because whenever I try and update the software, my iMac goes into almost a slow crawl and I have to go into safe mode or that RPAM reset to get it running again) so I've been too afraid to do upgrades since July of 2020. As far as space is concerned, I do have like 900 Gb of "other" space that I would like to find a way to manually clean out but I'm too afraid to delete things from the library folder. Should I just purchase an app that will do that deep cleaning for me or should I go on Youtube and find a tutorial that teaches me how to do it on my own? Lastly, I have this problem with my screen doing like a ghost imprint thing where if I move my browser window, there will be a imprint of where the browser was before(I know its hard to explain I'm sorry). What could that be? [link] [comments] |
I’m locked out of my old iPhone and all I want are the pictures. Posted: 11 Mar 2021 09:31 PM PST Please redirect me to another subreddit if I'm not in the right place! Please be easy with me because I'm very technologically inept. I have an old iPhone 6 that's been inactive for four years. I used to be able to boot it up to look at my photos however one day it updated and is requiring me to sign in with my Apple ID before I can do anything. I know the email address but not the password... however I don't know the password to that email address either. I tried to recover the Gmail account but google just keeps telling me they're unable to. I feel really defeated and unsure of what to do. All I care about is getting the pictures off from there and into somewhere else so they're safe and not lost forever. I may not know my passwords but if Apple is somehow able to get in there for me it's very apparent the phone once belonged to me as it's filled with photos of me and my son. Could this be fixed by bringing the phone into an Apple store or is there something else I can do? Any and all advice is deeply appreciated! I'm just a mom who wants her baby pictures back. Camera/photo software question! Posted: 11 Mar 2021 09:57 PM PST |
Posted: 11 Mar 2021 05:57 PM PST I bought an Apple Pencil (2nd gen) and an iPad Air (4th gen, 64GB), and as part of an education deal, I am able to get free AirPods with the iPad. So all up that should be A$189 for the Pencil and A$829 for the iPad (AirPods are free, but usually cost A$249). I bought these but was then charged for the Pencil and AirPods (haven't been charged for the iPad). I've also received notifications that the Pencil and AirPods have been posted to me, but not the iPad. I've looked everywhere for some way to contact Apple but have been unsuccessful. Really poor battery life on iPad Air 4. Posted: 11 Mar 2021 09:25 PM PST I only use Notability and Zoom, my battery lasts barely 4 hours. Is this a defective device? Running iOS 14.4. [link] [comments] |
Can you not share a link to a file on iCloud with someone that doesn’t have an Apple account? Posted: 11 Mar 2021 09:18 PM PST I'm trying to send a family video to my mom and it's a little too large for email. The video is stored on iCloud Drive, so I shared the file and it gave me a URL. I sent the URL to my mom and she said she was prompted to sign into iCloud (which she doesn't have). Can you not share files with people that don't have an Apple account? [link] [comments] |
Start Up Item I Don't Recognize Posted: 11 Mar 2021 05:19 PM PST Hello, All, and thanks in advance for any and all help. We had a blackout in my tiny town and I had to restart my Mac. For a little while, Amazon Music was opening at start up (no idea how or why), but just now I got tired of it and went into the System Preferences to remove it from my Login Items. I did that, but then I noticed this: I'm curious if anybody might know what that first item might be and if I could/should delete it. I tried Googling that sequence of numbers and letters, but not one thing popped up. Per the AppleHelp Rules & Guidelines, here are my specs: Model: iMac (Retina 4k, 21.5 inch, 2019) Processor: 3 GHz 6-core Intel Core i5 iOS: Big Sur, Version 11.2.2 Thanks again, and take care, All. Posted: 11 Mar 2021 05:12 PM PST The other day when I clicked on the WiFi icon on the top right of the screen I noticed that the text "Preferred Networks" was replaced with "Hidden Network" and when clicked on it gave me a message something like "using a hidden network can expose personally identifiable information. Is this your network?". I was mildly concerned because the message was displayed just as I was logging into some of my accounts and then disappeared shortly after and was replaced with "preferred networks" again. As far as I know my network is not hidden so why would I get this message randomly? I have never seen it before and haven't seen it since. [link] [comments] |
Lost all of my non-Itunes music when transitioning to a new computer and apple music Posted: 11 Mar 2021 12:09 PM PST I used to have an old macbook pro, all the way from 2013. This year I upgraded to a Macbook Air, and was surprised to find that Itunes had been completely replaced by the new Apple Music program. However, while all of my songs that I had bought from Itunes transitioned to this newer computer and Apple Music, all of my music I had stored that were not bought from Apple has vanished. For instance, I kept a large library of physical CD's on Itunes so that I could listen to them on the go. All of these songs were in the Icloud and could transfer between older macs and versions of Itunes - I know this because my family used to share the same Itunes account, and so all of our music was accessible across computers that were connected via ICloud. But now, with the newer Apple Music app, all of my music that I've had and loved for years has been gone. I can still technically access it from the Itunes app on my older macbook, but that computer is so old that I'm afraid one day it's going to die on me, and possibly all of my music with it. Why hasn't Apple Music updated with the rest of my music? Is there a way to do this? Thanks for any help. (My new computer is a Macbook Air, Version 11.2). [link] [comments] |
How are these apps inserting ads into my Siri Shortcuts? Posted: 11 Mar 2021 08:53 PM PST In the last couple of days a shared workspace app called "Flow" has appeared as a suggestion in my Siri apps, presumably triggered by a Bluetooth beacon or something as I walk nearby. But I have never installed Flow or opted into it sending me unsolicited ads on my homescreen. Why is apple allowing this and how can I stop it? [link] [comments] |

Posted: 11 Mar 2021 08:43 PM PST SO a few months ago I dropped my phone and the back shattered. Recently I bought a replacement back and I was going to do it myself instead of spending a bunch of money I don't have to pay for it. Anyways, I just got done removing all of the back glass with normal checks to make sure everything was running smoothly (and it was) but the final time of turning it on the WiFi will not connect and keeps shutting itself off, and the phone overall is extremely slow and responds to touch several seconds after input and will not open many apps. Anyone know what I could have done at the end to cause this to start happening? [link] [comments] |
Can’t send videos on Apps & don’t know how to fix it. Posted: 11 Mar 2021 04:48 PM PST I'm unable to send videos on apps & I have no clue why. I have an iPhone 8 and I'm currently on the latest IOS update. Recently my I've noticed my iPhone will not send videos from my camera roll onto apps. I've tried Twitter, WhatsApp, Instagram & messenger and I'm unable to send videos on all of these. I am able to send pictures fine, but that's it. The only way I'm able to send videos is through iMessage which is weird. I was thinking it might have something to do with my videos going directly Icloud but it's only recently started occurring. I don't know why this is happening and I was hoping somebody would have a fix on here. Thanks for reading! [link] [comments] |
Posted: 11 Mar 2021 04:35 PM PST Good evening all, After trying out my fathers monitors and playing around with system preferences when connected to the monitor via HDMI. The right third of the display is moved to the left side of the display. I also tried connecting to my TV with HDMI and the same thing happens then, I've connected to the TV on numerous occasions with no problems. (I have photos but not sure how to put them up on here) Cheers. [link] [comments] |

Hard reset 2017 iPad with broken home button and no password? Posted: 11 Mar 2021 08:07 PM PST Hey all! So I have this iPad that had a broken screen for a while, until I decided to order a replacement screen a couple days ago, of which I just installed. Unfortunately, I broke the home button in the process and I do not remember my password. If I didn't break the home button I would've just been able to put the iPad into recovery mode and reset it through iTunes, but now I can't even get it into recovery mode. I downloaded one of those desktop tools that can put the iOS device into recovery mode for you, but that requires a password. Is there any other way to get it into recovery mode? Is this iPad just toast? Thanks so much! [link] [comments] |
