I was looking at the speakers at the bottom of my iPhone 12 Pro, and I noticed a bunch of gunk had collected there (probably tissue paper residue). I tried using canned air to get the gunk out, but it isn't working. Can I use a safety pin to scrape the gunk out of the speakers, or will the sharp needle damage the speakers? Thank you!! | Posted: 04 Feb 2021 10:45 AM PST I have this iPhone 12 with damage to the back plate but no internal damage, but for some reason the OLED screen is completely black. However the digitiser seems to be working as I do get vibrations from touching the screen and vibrations from the mute button too. I connected it to iTunes and it detected it so I've restored it a couple times to no avail. Today I contacted Apple support about fixing it as I don't have a spare screen to use, and they said it's gonna cost me "a lot". Any tips or helpful advice would be greatly appreciated before I send it off and get a new mortgage? Thanks. (Ps: I've opened it up and none of the ribbon cables are damaged and the screen has no damage too, only the back plate(even the wireless charging works!)) [link] [comments]  |
| Unexplained phone calls occurring specifically between me and my friend's phones. Posted: 04 Feb 2021 05:46 PM PST For the last few weeks my close friend has been getting calls from my contact (with my correct cell number) that I never made. These calls do not show up on my call log, and I am was not even touching my phone when these happened (so its not some kind of buttdial). When she did answer these calls it was just silence. When she did not answer, it would ring, then show up as a missed call from me on her log. There would be a checkmark next to it indicating it was "verified by the carrier". I wasn't getting any mysterious calls from her on my phone, (just real calls where we actually spoke). Until, tonight my phone rings with a call from her contact , I answer the phone normally, first thing I hear over the line is one ring, then she says "hello?" (as if she is the one answering not calling). Turns out her phone was ringing getting a call from me, and at the same time mine was getting a call from her, we both answered and got connected. We hung up and she called me back to talk about it. On my call log the weird mystery call does not have the "verified" checkmark next to it, but the subsequent call a few minutes later from her (that she actually made) does have the checkmark. For both of us, this is only happening with each others contacts. No one else is getting random calls from me. And she is not getting random calls from any other number or contact. If any of you are display nerds like myself then this is extremely close to what you would get on a curser on a lower quality display. I have an iPhone 7 and I keep it on Low Power Mode, I have Background App Refresh off, and I always close apps completely when I leave them to make sure there's nothing running in the background. Both yesterday and today my phone has ran completely dead (technically it was on 1% today but still) while it was just in my pocket at school. I haven't changed anything about my routine but now it's been running dead when I'm not using. Does anyone know why this is happening? First I'm sorry for posting this, it's probably simple but I couldn't get the right terms into google! My boyfriend has an Android. He just got an iPhone for work and I saved that number under his contact info. Today I text him from the same thread as always, but it switched to his work/iPhone number. So if I scroll up it's the green bubbles/messages, then it switches to the blue bubbles, all on the same thread. How can I text ONLY his original number? | Posted: 04 Feb 2021 01:31 PM PST So basically, my phone screen started to randomly have these spurts where it would flash multicolored lines, and itd be blindingly bright and yea it was a mess, then it would just go black. after a bit id get a green tinted flickery screen with multiple green lines then after like an hour it would just fix itself like nothing happened. this time around, it did the usual, but its staying black (the phone is fully functional including touch screen). is this a common issue? is this a software or hardware issue? is there anything i can do to fix it at home? | Keyboard Clicks & Lock Sounds Abnormally Loud Posted: 04 Feb 2021 01:24 PM PST I have an iPhone 12 Pro Max, it has the most recent software update but has been doing this for a while now. Keyboard clicks & device locking sounds are abnormally loud. Keyboard clicks will start quiet and then go to being abnormally loud. The lock sound is completely random. I have not discovered what may start these issues. I've tried to restart the phone, and I've also reset all settings and nothing has resolved the issue. Furthermore, when I have AirPod Pros in the keyboard clicking and device lock sounds are extremely loud to the point where I need to remove the AirPods. This ONLY happens when the device isn't playing any music and I have the AirPods in my ears. When I have music or a podcast going the typing and locking sounds are completely normal, only when the music stops or I've paused the podcast does the clicking of the keyboard and the lock sound become extremely loud. She sent me a screenshot of the output and everything was OK besides the screen serial number which shows "user decision needed". Does that mean that the screen is changed? | Unable to receive SMS messages from AT&T Customers only Posted: 04 Feb 2021 11:16 AM PST I know this sounds strange, but I have been trying to figure this out for over a month now. I am unable to receive SMS text messages from AT&T customers who don't have an iPhone (iMessage works fine.) I am able to receive Picture/Video MMS messages, and they can receive my texts, but I can't receive theirs. I don't seem to have this issue with any other carrier. I originally thought this was an issue with my carrier, however after spending MANY hours on the phone and online chat features with tech support, I got fed up and switched carriers. Now, the strange thing also is, I tried plugging my SIM card in to an old iPhone and was having the same issue, so now I'm not sure if it's the phone or BOTH carriers, or something on AT&T's end. Steps I have taken: Turning phone on & off HELP!!! Anybody have any ideas whatsoever? I have several friends/relatives who have AT&T and androids, I've checked with all of them and cannot receive any of their texts. Any advice would be greatly appreciated! [link] [comments]  |

Posted: 04 Feb 2021 06:26 AM PST Hello guys, it's been a looooooong time since I started trying to find a solution for my phone. I recently bought a new iPhone and I want to install to it a backup that was created on November (November of 2020). I was really happy to start the procedure of recovering until I got that damn error by iTunes. "iTunes could not restore the iPhone "xxx iPhone" because the backup was corrupt." I can't understand why I get this message, the backup is completely «healthy» and I reassured myself for that when I saw the pictures of the backup via a third party software. If you ask me why I don't recover the backup with the help of that software, I can't because the size of pictures is only some KB. That means the quality is a lot worse.
