- So I have sprayed my phone charger with alcohol-based sanitizer in order to disinfect it from germs and viruses, and I plugged it in my phone and after exactly 4 seconds when I left it I smelled smoke and went to my phone and so it smoking so I removed it immediately, is it safe to use it again? :<

When I opened up the phone immediately I noticed a lot of debris and some fuzzy stuff (maybe dryer lint) in the phone. Anybody successfully recover a dirty sensor, assuming a ribbon or whatever wasn't already damaged? See photo.. [link] [comments]  |

| Posted: 06 Feb 2021 08:57 PM PST I am trying to put all my photos into iCloud (some of my old photos are on Google) so I have been downloading old photos from Google onto my iPhone hoping that they would be uploaded to my iCloud library. But then I got stuck on "restoring from iCloud..." I am not sure why my phone was trying to restore from iCloud when I was merely trying to upload photos. Anyway, I signed out and logged back into my Apple ID on my iphone in hopes of speeding up the upload. Now it seems like all my contacts and photos are gone. I use iCloud (200gb) so they should be restored. How long will it take for all my photos and contacts to be restored on my iphone? Or all my photos and contacts long gone? Every time I choose a wallpaper, I got to zoom in a bit so the grey bar gets covered. It happens only on home screen and lock screen. I have loads of photos on it which have so much sentimental value including photos of my late father which I have not backed up. I know my passcode and have my laptop which has connected to the phone in the past. However whenever I connect it with USB to the laptop the phone does not appear in finder. The problem is that for some reason the 'optimise iPhone storage' option was checked and it's removed some of my photos. There's one photo which definitely got corrupted somehow that I managed to recover from iCloud web, but I have no idea how to find the other 7 photos. I've tried selecting them one hundred at time and going 'share' then 'email' which downloads them onto my device - this way I've gone from 350+ to 8 but I cannot find these last ones. The thought of losing 7 random photos of my son is pretty awful :/ How can I recover them please? Or at least see which ones haven't downloaded yet? Thanks. [link] [comments]  |
| [BUG] iPhone 8+ Disconnects From WiFi When Locked Following iOS 14+ Updates Posted: 06 Feb 2021 04:50 PM PST After updating my iPhone to iOS 14, I've consistently gotten WiFi issues, disconnects, and one consistent error that happens every time I lock my phone, that being my phone disconnecting from the internet. As I don't have phone service, this issue prevents my phone from working property when it turns off, makes updating difficult etc etc. I have renewed the lease, checked the modem, reset network settings, disabled network location services, basically every step of advice given when I google this issue. It is not a modem issue as the bug happens no matter where I am or what network I'm connected to. The issue goes away when I update my phone (14.1-5), but immediately returns the second I turn WiFi off or completely lose signal (whenever I leave my house). I've reset my phone (not wiped), and the only two things left I haven't done is go into recovery mode/revert to iOS 13. Has anyone else gotten this issue/have a fix? it's been a problem since this update released and I haven't found a permanent solution yet. [link] [comments]  |
| Posted: 06 Feb 2021 04:13 AM PST My mother in law got a new SE and she managed to upgrade the phone overnight to 14.x and since the reboot it asks for a 6 digit passcode. When I setup the phone for her months ago I made sure I didn't enter any passcode because she wanted to keep it simple. I suspect during or after the upgrade she didn't know what she was typing and she typed a new passcode and now she can't remember. Nor the passcode or Touch ID works and she cannot get into her phone. Is the easiest way to bring it into the Apple store or should I try doing a factory reset of the phone? | Posted: 06 Feb 2021 04:19 PM PST So you know how, for example, when you save a photo from the Twitter app it automatically goes to the Twitter album in your camera roll? I've been saving tiktoks from the tiktok app and it automatically goes to the tiktok album in my camera roll. But recently they stopped going to the album and just save to recents. How do I get them to go automatically to the album again? I allowed the app all access to my photos and also called tech support, spoke to 2 different people they just said to contact tiktok app support. But they don't have a support line for things like that. But I'm thinking this has gotta be a tech issue I can fix myself. I tried deleting the app and reinstalling it but that didn't fix it. I tried to connect them to an older macbook, but they didn't show up there either. Is there a way to extract the content from them? I have tried iMazing, but it doesn't work there either. | Apps using a lot of battery usage Posted: 06 Feb 2021 02:26 PM PST In settings, when i look at my battery usage. It'll say i've used an app for 1 minute, and it'll say it's taken up 7% of my battery usage. Most of my apps are like this. I'll use it for about 20 minutes, and the usage will say about 57% My phone is only 2 months old, it's an iphone 11. The battery can be good but sometimes it'll drain without use (even with airplane mode on) Any help would be good thanks. [link] [comments]  |

Both phones have 2x optical zoom according to Apple's website, but I'm a little confused since the 12 doesn't have a telephoto lens. Would I be losing any optical zoom capability by upgrading?
