I think iPad 8 is the way to go for many users! Posted: 02 Feb 2021 05:51 AM PST On the current line up of iPads, if you're too confused with different versions like "Pro", "Air", "Mini", just go with the normal iPad. Here's why:
Basically all the premium features that Apple introduced in newer (more expensive) iPads are aimed to provide a little bit more natural and polished experience (and powerful in some cases, like USB-C). But compared to other Tablets in market, iPad on its own feels like a premium device. So If you're thinking of saving yourself some bucks, go for the Base model! It's really a productive and capable machine for whatever you needed it for. [link] [comments]

Posted: 02 Feb 2021 11:55 AM PST Hey all, Does anybody else have the problem where, when typing on one screen in split screen, the cursor or typing won't switch over the other screen? This happens specifically when I'm working with Outlook. I'll be working on an email and if I try to type on the other half of my screen, ever key stroke will persistently show up on the Outlook screen. This also happens with slide over. No matter how much I press, press and hold, and interact with Notes or whatever else I'm doing split screen, it will stay on Outlook. Please tell me I'm not the only one with this issue. If anyone knows how to force the cursor and keystrokes to switch to the other screen, please let me know. Thank you. [link] [comments]
Need Documents by Readdle type app for Mac Posted: 02 Feb 2021 11:33 AM PST Hello, I love Documents by Readdle for the ipad and I was bummed to find out there wasn't a sister app for the Mac I could sync back and forth. I love that I can start a project in Documents on the ipad and all in one place there is a browser, image viewer, music player, PDF/Mark up, etc. I can research websites, save a pdf copy of a section and then write on it with my apple pencil and make notes and it all stays in a folder in Documents. Does anyone know something similar for the Mac that has ipad and Mac apps? Thanks, James [link] [comments]
What Do You Use Your iPad For? Posted: 02 Feb 2021 02:13 PM PST I want to know, what do you use your iPad for? I got an iPad Air about a month ago. I bought it as I needed it for certain tasks, but something about it makes me want to use it for everything. [link] [comments]
Is there a way to copy the links of all open tabs in Safari for iOs? Posted: 02 Feb 2021 01:50 PM PST Hi, guys! I'd like to copy the links of all my tabs in Safari for iOs and send them to some app (Airtable or Notion). I know there is an extension for Chrome called TabCopy who does that. I wonder if there's something similar for Safari. It can be an app, a shortcut, anything. [link] [comments]
I 'Downgraded' Myself to an iPad 8th Gen Posted: 02 Feb 2021 12:43 AM PST I pre-ordered (I'm saying this because I really was excited for that tablet) a Galaxy Tab S7 in August and it came with a defective screen and it was bent. I immediately asked Samsung for a replacement and I got it. The 2nd S7 also had the same issues. So I asked for a refund and got rejected, according to Samsung my device was 'perfectly normal'. I've asked for a refund again and got the same answer. So I went to Tüketici Hakları Hakem Heyeti (Consumer Rights Arbitration Committee in Turkey). It took 3 months and an expert report to get my money back. Expert report said "easily visible yellow tinting and uniformity problems". I've told my story to warn you about Samsung's terrible QC, customer service and setting the scene to tell you about my 'downgrade' experience. After all these happened, I knew I wasn't going to get another Samsung tablet. My budget was not enough to get iPad Air 256GB+Apple pencil. So I settled on iPad 8 128GB+Apple Pencil+Smart Keyboard for $500. My theoretical downgrade actually feels like an upgrade. Here's why: No screen defects for the love of god. It hasn't got the best uniformity in the world, but no tinting, no wrong claims. Samsung claimed DCI-P3 coverage, S7 wasn't able to cover P3 gamut. It had 'HDR' but SDR screen of iPad Air 3 had much better dynamic range. Notebookcheck website shows uniformity of iPad 8th's screen perfectly. I am not bothered with the non-laminated display. OS definitely feels like it's designed for tablets. Appstore has amazing apps for iPads, there are high quality games and Arcade. A much refined experience imo. I have all the functionality I need. Battery life is excellent. 3 hours of surfing on Safari, only uses 15-20%. Wow. It lasts forever. Performance wise only 'issue' is the 3GB of RAM. However A12 performs brilliantly, and iPadOS is really good with RAM management, I don't think it'll become an issue for my usage.(Mainly web surfing, media consumption, light gaming and schoolwork) Apple Pencil is better than the S-Pen. S-Pen is small, has a weird nib, pressure sensitivity was acting abnormal. Apple Pencil's only problem is that it needs to be charged to work. Form factor is much better, I like the solid pencil nib. Every function works as intended. iPad 8 is more comfortable to hold, and I like 4:3 screen ratio better. I figured that I didn't need nor utilized high end features like 120hz refresh rate, Dex, ultra wide angle camera etc. So for $150 less I got much better experience from the budget level iPad 8 than the high level Tab S7. I confidently can recommend this tablet for anyone looking for a budget solution. For people who don't need an extra color accurate screen, top of the line performance, high speed USB type C, high storage capacity... For people who are not professionals basically. If you're a Pro, go with the Pro. Tbh iPad Air feels like it's in a really weird spot, it's hard to recommend. Most users can get away with using 8th gen, and others that need that 'Pro' features will probably pick an iPad Pro. Air 4 is a weird mixture. Has amazing performance, modern design, but low storage, slower USB connection, much worse display than a Pro, worse speakers and smaller screen. I am having a hard time justifying it's price as 64GB is barely enough in 2021. At least that's my opinion. And would like to get your opinions on the Air 4. Thank you for putting up with my terrible writing. [link] [comments]

Posted: 02 Feb 2021 10:53 AM PST Does the Lightning to HDMI adapter support video output in resolutions higher than the native resolution of the device playing it ? So for example, would you be able to output 4K video on streaming services like Netflix, apple tv etc., to a 4K-compatible TV/screen from an iPad pro with a (2732x2048) roughly (2.7k) Retina display via the HDMI adapter and a high speed HDMI cable ? Does the native resolution of the device factor into the resolution of the media being played on the screen? [link] [comments]
Why the iPad mini 6 might make me ditch my 11” pro Posted: 02 Feb 2021 09:52 AM PST Let me preface this by saying that I am currently a 1st year med student, and the majority of my workflow stems from the ipad. So far I have not found any limitations with the device, as I don't consider myself a power user by any means. My current setup is an old surface pro 3 for online testing as I am more comfortable with that for that situation. I use my ipad for zoom on the rare occasion I am not on campus, note taking, drawing the body and flow charts for mechanisms in the body, and then obviously for media consumption and other busy work. Now, the situation that would make me reconsider my ipad would be if the mini 6 would adopt the form factor of the air 4, with support for the pencil 2. This would give my the portable digital notebook and work device that would suit my situation better than the larger 11" size. In terms of multitasking, i have an old external display that I could use for the larger screen when working at home, but any work i would need to do on campus could be done easily with the mini. The only cons I see with the mini would be losing the 120hz display that I love oh so much, however I am hoping that the mini could possibly get this in order to help differentiate it further from the air(this could also be done with a mini-LED display) either of which would make this decision a 100% guarantee. In addition to these points, The reduction in price from the pro would allow me to also spring for the AirPod pros which I have been wanting for some time now. In conclusion, I am wondering what others would pick, and what everyone else would like to see in the mini 6. [link] [comments]

Best way to get iCloud passwords from iPad onto a flash drive? Posted: 02 Feb 2021 08:06 AM PST So my mom wants all her passwords written down on a piece of paper. Rather than doing that, downloading them to a USB would probably be faster and easier. What's the best way of going about this? [link] [comments]

What app allows for the sharing of google docs, but the ease of notability for group PDF annotation? Posted: 01 Feb 2021 05:24 PM PST I am currently in a physics course that requires we collaborate on documents. With complex equations, much of the work is hand written with an apple pencil. The professors expect everyone to work in the same document at the same time (everyone writing to contribute), but there really is no seamless way to do it. I'm basically looking for an app that offers the real-time sharing capabilities of google docs, but with the qualities of notability in almost every other way. I suppose you could call it a collaborative PDF annotation app. Hopefully it isn't too pricy, but my group members said that they would be willing to pay $5-$10 for this functionality. Any suggestions? [link] [comments] |
