Just ordered an iPad Air for college! What are your favorite apps? Posted: 03 Feb 2021 06:57 PM PST I haven't had an iPad since the first few that came out and I am super excited to get this! I'm returning to college to get my bachelors degree and I can't wait to use it to take notes. What are some apps that you love to use? Can be college-related or not. [link] [comments]
Posted: 04 Feb 2021 10:02 AM PST This is my experience using an old 4th Gen iPad with iOS 10.3.3 as a 2nd monitor in my Linux/Ubuntu laptop. I wonder this when I saw a post of this Deskreen app, an open-source project from GitHub, this is an excellent app to extend/duplicate your desktop through Browser like Mozilla, Chrome, Safari, etc, but as my iOS is very old and according to GitHub issues, my browsers are not supporting WebRTC. So I started to try to make this works, not Deskreen but other options. I found many old posts and one is to use VNC. I also used VNC on iPad to connect it to my Ubuntu Lap but I saw that having a virtual screen will use that VNC session on this "screen" to extend it. That's when I found some posts to do it manually with some X11 scripts and my old experience editing X11 files many years ago, with no Ubuntu GUI started or something like that. Then I found VirtScreen, another GitHub project that does that and works with VNC, so now, I can use this old device to extend my desktop to use it for virtual meetings, monitoring, videos (not fluent but very good with a 5GHz WiFi) and chat windows while I'm working in the main monitor all. Processing img pxca3eg32if61... I share the main posts to bring this work, if you have a newer device that supports WebRTC definitely should try Deskreen, if not, try VirtScreen with VNC. https://discourse.bigdaddylinux.com/t/use-your-tablet-as-a-monitor-with-virtscreen/104/2 [link] [comments]
IPad Air 4 full coverage tempered glass Posted: 04 Feb 2021 04:02 AM PST As per title. Are there any tempered glass screen protectors that have no cut out? I've looked everywhere and they all have cut out for the front camera/sensor. [link] [comments]
Problems while using a mouse with iPad Pro Posted: 04 Feb 2021 09:07 AM PST The cursor has been acting a little weird lately. The cursor used to adapt to the UI and used to merge with the elements on the screen like the Icons and widgets but that doesn't happen anymore. Now the round cursor just floats above the icon and doesn't adapt to it and increase the icon size like it used to. The iPad has also started to freeze every once in a while. Don't know what's wrong. (PS - I'm using the Logitech M590 silent mouse with the iPad and also the Magic keyboard 2) [link] [comments]
Posted: 04 Feb 2021 12:02 PM PST Just bought a used pro 9.7" with cellular and was wondering if there's any way to pull up field test mode? I know normally it's a dialer code but since iPads don't have a dialer I wasn't sure if it was possible or not. If not, are there any alternate ways to see the band/signal info (without jailbreaking)? [link] [comments]
Posted: 04 Feb 2021 05:55 AM PST I'm thinking about buying a matte screen protector for taking notes, but In addition to taking notes, I also read a lot. So,I would like to hear your experience! [link] [comments]
Posted: 03 Feb 2021 07:43 PM PST Edit: title is unclear - 11" is better than 12.9" —— I've had every size of iPad over the years - every few cycles, I'll sell my current one on eBay and then swap up to a newer model. If I remember correctly, this has gone iPad 2 > iPad Mini > iPad 4 > iPad Air 2 > iPad Pro 12.9 2nd Gen. I got the 12.9 because my job previously required me to travel a lot - the 12.9 was great because it served as a second monitor for my laptop (and was the same size). This was helpful because when I was on the road I had a second monitor, and when I wasn't working, I could use it for flight videos or goofing around or whatever. My other use case was handwriting notes for work - having them sync right to my work laptop was great. Since the pandemic hit, I haven't traveled for work, and the 12.9 iPad had gone largely unused. If I was sitting around the house I'd just use my phone for everything. I made an effort to start using the iPad more, but I found it tedious to use around the house - it's too big to comfortably use on the couch, and it's heavy. Overall, my use case changed and the benefits of the big screen were outweighed by the considerations of such a huge device. I upgraded in the last week to an iPad Pro 11" first generation. It was between this and the iPad Air 4 - they're very very similar devices as far as speed, screen size, and price. In the end, Face ID and the higher refresh rate won me over and I got an older device. Making this transition has been great - I find myself reaching for the iPad a lot more in cases where I never would have used it before. If you don't really need the 12.9" screen, I really recommend getting an 11" version. The newer 12.9s are probably a bit better having lost the bezel and home button, but the 11" screen size is really sufficient - it'll still suffice for a second screen. Hopefully this helps someone who's trying to decide between 11 and 12.9, or between the Air 4 and 11" Pro Gen 1. [link] [comments]
Duet Display and Scribble on Ipad Posted: 04 Feb 2021 09:23 AM PST I wondered if anyone has used duet display connecting to a windows 10 machine and successfully used the Scribble on Ipad function to convert handwritten text to typed letters in text fields. I'm curious about this as I could use the feature for language learning on my windows 10 machine. [link] [comments]
Keynote Movie Poster Frame on IPad Posted: 04 Feb 2021 09:53 AM PST I embedded a movie on a keynote slide but it's a black frame until played. On desktop Keynote you can edit the preview or "Poster Frame" image under the Movie menu. This option isn't available on iPad. Does anyone know how to edit the poster frame / preview image on a video embedded on a keynote while using iPad? [link] [comments]

Building iPad Kiosk Catalogue for Client. What CMS/Software to use? Posted: 03 Feb 2021 08:56 PM PST I was thinking of building a Wordpress site that acts as an iPad web app. The website link will be put in the "Kiosk Pro Plus" app. However, I also need the Kiosk to work offline so I was thinking of using a software/plugin like HTTrack to download the Wordpress site files but I'm not sure if the site will lose functionality or not. Below details the main requirements: - Build iPad Kiosk for customers to browse product catalogue in store. No need for point-of-sale/commerce system - Content in the iPad Kiosk is easily editable by the client with a user-friendly CMS, no need to always look for me to edit content in the future - iPad Kiosk can be used offline in case internet is cut off, or bringing the iPad out to meet clients and show them product catalogue Any suggestions is greatly appreciated, thank you! ScreenTime reporting not accurate Posted: 03 Feb 2021 03:24 PM PST Both of my kids have iPads and I have ScreenTime enabled on both. Prior to getting them iPads we used Disney Circle to enable/disable their Kindle's, so we still use the Circle for enabling time limits and off times. But I decided to turn on ScreenTime anyway to see if it would give me any more clarity on apps they use, etc. But I'm noticing that the reported times are clearly wrong. Each day each kid gets 30mins after finishing school. I can verify on the Circle app on my phone that the time on the device is 30 mins or slightly less some days. But when I go to the iPad, it will say something like 7 mins. On the weekends they get 5 hours on their screens, again, I can confirm this with the Circle app, but it will report back in ScreenTime that they spent like 24 mins on the device. Any idea what the heck is going on and why its not accurately logging the minutes? [link] [comments]
Is there any hacky way to "extend" the smart connector? Posted: 03 Feb 2021 05:57 PM PST Ok, I know smart connectors are proprietary and everything, but is there some way to attach wires to them or something and then to your iPad, like a smart connector extension cord? Does anyone with more technical knowledge than me know if it's possible? Or what type of cable would work, what resistance, what material? Would trying this somehow blow up my iPad (or the device I'm connecting it to)? [link] [comments] |
