Don't think there's a big difference between the stream and a 4K disc especially the price for a 4K disc. How much more does Dolby vision improve the picture? [link] [comments]  | ||
| YouTube app on Apple TV updated Posted: 23 Feb 2021 06:27 AM PST The YouTube app on TvOS was finally updated after about 5 months. Last update I saw was from Sep 2020. Unfortunately, but not surprisingly it still does not support 4K @ 60fps or HDR. Appears to be a hardware limitation, but I still wanted to check when I saw the update. [link] [comments]  | ||

| Do things look better on Apple TV over LG Web OS (LG CX and B9) Posted: 22 Feb 2021 05:47 PM PST Hey folks. I own an LG B9 and have an Apple TV 4K hooked up to it, and I also have a CX that I use with Web OS. Both TV's are calibrated with recommendations from RTings and HDTVTest and I use both in Cinema mode. I was watching Wandavision which is in Dolby Vision (unintentional pun) and noticed that the show looks noticeably better on the TV hooked up to the Apple TV 4K. In theory, the CX which I use with Web OS should look better as its a newer, higher spec TV, but to my eyes the Apple TV is considerably better. I tried different content by watching the movie Tenet which is also in Dolby Vision. Again, this looks far better on the Apple TV 4K box which is hooked to my B9 versus the CX which uses the Apple TV app. Is the Apple TV box doing something different that the Web OS apps are not doing which makes content look better on the former? Since everything is upscale to 4K is there any difference in video quality for Apple TV movies between HD movies and 4K hdr movies or would they all just run in 4K SDR? Just wondering if it would make sense to upgrade some of my hd movies when I don't plan on using hdr due to my tv not being good enough. [link] [comments]  | ||

I have been hearing it consistently for the last day. I hear it when watching my streaming service or with YouTube. It occurs at a rate of approximately once every minute. I have rebooted the device twice and even set the "navigation clicks" in the menu to OFF. Still there. Any thoughts on how to get rid of this issue? I have an Apple TV4k with tvOS 14.4. I've noticed though that many photos that I have unfavorited are still on my Apple TV even a couple weeks later. I'm wondering how often the Apple TV will go out and sync the new photos that are added to favorites and get rid of old photos that are taken off of favorites. Anyone know if I can force a refresh? | Posted: 22 Feb 2021 08:30 AM PST Been an apple 4k owner for 4 years now and recently I have been having a problem where netflix will not play or show it shows in atmos. I have used this setup with my soundbar for at least 2 years and my tv while new (LG CX) it was playing atmos throughout the entirety of last year. Now, for the past few weeks, I can't get atmos to show up on Netflix. If I use the built in WebOS Netflix app, I get atmos. Not on my Apple Tv. Anyone have any ideas? | Posted: 22 Feb 2021 08:00 AM PST I've been having an issue lately where my iPhone is ALWAYS connected to AirPlay on my Apple TV. The "play" widget no longer displays playback controls for the content playing on my AppleTV, just shows music in my library. Randomly, music will start playing, stopping whatever content is on the TV. Since the start of the issue, I have removed my phone as a remote, unpaired all other iOS devices, and turned off all automatic connect/play settings for AirPlay. Now I have to have AirPlay off at all times and if I turn it on, it will automatically connect to my phone and start playing music without any input from me to do so. Any advice on the issue? Again, the auto play and auto connect settings on both my TV and iPhone are off, set to Never, and still this happens. [link] [comments]  | ||
