| Worth upgrading late 2013 MacBook Pro now ? Posted: 03 Feb 2021 08:46 PM PST Can someone help me understand if its worth it for me to upgrade? I'd mostly use it for coding: python, r, and other languages im learning. Along with standard Netflix occasionally. I currently have: MacBook Pro i7 2.3GHz 15" (Late 2013) 512GB SSD. It's hard for me to understand all nuances of technical features. I'd like to get something new but not sure if I should wait? My current MacBook Pro battery absolutely sucks even though I've gotten it replaced in past. Sometimes it won't charge when connecting Cord which is annoying too. Battery cycle count is 563.

I have a backup of my phone on ios 13.5 on my computer and I would like to go back to it but whenever I choose to restore from back up it gives me an error saying I don't have enough storage on my iPhone. My phone is currently on ios 14.3. Does anyone have any suggestions I can try? Would factory resetting my phone and restoring it through Itunes work? [link] [comments]  |
| Syncing iCloud photos for the first time Posted: 03 Feb 2021 08:24 PM PST Hi all! I have a question about syncing photos. I recently turned on my iCloud photos. I wanted to sync the photos from my phone to be backed up onto my computer to save space. For some reason all the photos from a school owned iPad I was signed into TWO YEARS ago also synced to my laptop. I was a teacher at the school and logged in using my AppleID. I no longer work there and of course signed out of the iPad before I left. I am now paranoid that because of this, all of the photos from my phone have been synced to the school iPad I used to use. Is there any possible way this could happen? I apologize if this is a ridiculously stupid question. I just don't want a random student have access to all my photos from the past 5 years. | Random Black screen in Big Sur Posted: 03 Feb 2021 08:06 PM PST Sorry if this has been discussed already. Has anyone experienced their Mac screen randomly going black after which you'd have to typically force restart to get back? I have no battery issues, do normal but high intensity office work related stuff, and have a fully loaded 2018 MBP 15". I even reformatted the machine and rebuilt it clean with Big Sur 11.1 (today: latest update applied) and still no change. It's driving me nuts and I simply cannot reproduce the problem let alone try to explain this to Apple support on the phone. Sometimes it blacks screens when the battery is above 50% and upon attempted restart says battery is dead. Other times battery drains to 1% before it normally shuts off. It's even gone black screen when it's plugged in! Gut says it's the battery but every check comes back clean. Thanks for any help you can give, in advance. [link] [comments]  |

I'm trying to download an app off of the app store (that is free) and once it processes, I get the message of "Verification Required". I check to make sure everything's right and click done. | Separating two phone numbers from the same Apple ID in iMessage and Facetime Posted: 03 Feb 2021 09:49 PM PST So my family has been on Apple products for ages. For some reason, my mom and I have never separated our Apple ID and she and I have had to navigate sharing the same info for years. Recently she had a pop up on her iPhone 8 to add my number to her phone. We've previously had the setting for Send & Receive off for a long time, but she somehow turned it off recently and started to receive my iMessages. My goal would be to ensure that we don't run the risk of her accidentally selecting something which enables her to receive my messages without her knowledge. She often clicks through pop-ups quickly without really understanding what they're asking, which I believe lead us to this problem. I'm aware that there's a feature to deregister numbers from an Apple ID, but I don't want to have either of us lose all of our info on our phones. Is there a way for us to separate the two numbers so that they're both on the same Apple ID but unable to send and receive each other's iMessages and Facetime calls? I'd like to keep this as painfree as possible, but I know the ultimate solution would be to create a new Apple ID and transfer her info to that. She has about 1,700 notes she's not willing to part with, and I have 200GB on my iPhone X that I don't want to reroute. Any suggestions? Thanks. [link] [comments]  |

However, i tried to backup my icloud on this new phone buy i received a message that said this iPhone cannot be backed up because there is not enough iCloud storage. When i go to my backups, it shows my old phones backup. Can i delete that to make space since its technically already on my new phone? Or is it worth it to update to 50gb? [link] [comments]  |

Posted: 03 Feb 2021 09:45 PM PST A couple days ago I started getting multiple robocalls and spam texts a day, a significant increase out of nowhere. I'm guessing my number was leaked or something. I've installed Truecaller to help filter but it's not always stopping each call despite identifying them and I don't know how secure I feel it is. So far I'm not comfortable giving it access to my texts as well. Anyone know other solutions I can explore or good (preferable free) services? I am on the do not call registry, good lot that does! I'd like to set it up where she can purchase things from the Store using gift cards or balances I transfer to her but NOT with the credit card I have connected for the monthly iCloud payment. Is there any way to either set it up so she can only use available balances and not use my cc (currently if there's no balance on her account it automatically switches back to my cc for payment), or is there a way to password protect it so I have to put in a different password in order to use the credit card on file, i.e. her username and password for balance purchases and a different username and password if there's no available balance? | Apple Watch SE Notifications Quezfion Posted: 03 Feb 2021 08:15 PM PST I just got a new Apple Watch after switching from a Fitbit Versa. One thing that is bothering me and I'm not sure if there's a solution to - whenever I feel a vibration indicating a text message, I have to turn my wrist all the way in order to get it to light up and for me to read it. Back on the fitbit, the screen always turned on for a notification no matter what you were doing with your hand or what position it was in. This made it A LOT easier to sneak a peak at a notification without making a grande gesture of flipping your wrist enough for the damn thing to light up and show you your message. Is there any way to get the apple watch screen to light up for notifications regardless of you lifting your wrist up? [link] [comments]  |
| Posted: 03 Feb 2021 04:26 PM PST Ever since I did the update for IOS 14 on my XS when the update released, the phone has been crashing consistently. I'd say at least a few times a week. The screen just freezes with a bunch of purple lines then shuts off. Sometimes it comes right back on, sometimes it doesn't turn on for like 5-10 minutes. Since IOS 14 dropped I have been able to do IOS updates but only if I do it through iTunes. If I try doing it through my phone it just crashes mid update then turns on without the newest update finishing. Now it is nearly inoperable. The phone is extremely slow. It has shut off about 10 times in the past hour and seems to have gotten a lot worse just today. When I am able to get it to stay on, it just crashes whenever I launch an app. It won't even let me connect to wifi, every time I toggle the wifi symbol it just toggles off immediately. I hope this is the right place to seek help and would appreciate any feedback. FYI I've force restarted, updated IOS last month but haven't done 14.4 because I can't without it crashing, and I've factory reset it twice. [link] [comments]  |
