MacBook Pro 16" 2019 16GB i9 slow / unresponsive Posted: 08 Feb 2021 04:07 PM PST Dear All, I have a MacBook Pro 16" 2019 with the following configuration
The performance on my MacBook Pro went from great to very poor lately. I have brought it to the Apple Store two weeks ago and it was diagnosed as a fan issue so they replaced one of the fans that had failed the diagnostic. The genius also had ordered a new logic board but their diagnostic tool didn't reveal any (new) issue so it was not replaced. Now, I am back with my MacBook Pro and it is very slow again. For example. the dock takes time to draw the icons and the system generally does not feel responsive or Starcraft 2 runs at 2-5 fps. This is after a clean reinstallation by the way. So I do not know if anyone here has experienced the same problem but I am getting frustrated with this Macbook. It already had two repairs on it so far (battery replacement and fan replacement). iPhone 6s will only charge from a wall outlet and won’t connect to a pc Posted: 08 Feb 2021 08:43 PM PST My iPhone 6s wont connect to my pc or MacBook at all, it charges from the wall charger just fine but when I plug it into a pc it does nothing and doesn't show up on the pc. I've already tired using different cables and such but nothing is working. [link] [comments] |

iPad is stuck on the apple logo and can’t be restored in iTunes because it needs to be unlocked Posted: 08 Feb 2021 05:05 PM PST The iPad is stuck on the start up screen for about 10 minutes before it dies and when I charge it, the dead battery indicator comes on before it gets stuck again. Everywhere I've read says I need to restore it in iTunes (I managed to get to the iPad restore screen), but I can't because that requires you to unlock the iPad and tap trust the computer. I need to do a factory reset, but it needs a screen time passcode and I forgot the passcode Posted: 08 Feb 2021 09:38 PM PST To preface this, I'm trying to factory reset & delete all data from my sisters (she's 14) iphone. She recently got a new phone and used this one as a trade in. The phone company let us take her phone home to transfer her data before resetting it and sending it back. The only problem is, when I try to reset her phone, it asks for the screen time passcode which was set for her a long time ago. We haven't needed to use screen time restrictions lately and forgot the passcode. Every time I try to reset it with the Apple ID, we also can't figure out if the screen time was set up using my personal Apple ID, my sisters Apple ID, or my moms Apple ID. Everything I try just keeps coming up as an incorrect password attempt, putting the waiting time at an hour. I need to send the phone back as soon as possible and preferably tomorrow but I haven't reset it yet and don't have all day to try again every hour. Is there any way to hard reset a iphone or something get around the screen time passcode to factory reset it? I cant use any of those downloadable programs, unless it works on Chromebook, because I don't have a Mac or Windows laptop. Please help :( Edit: Also forgot to mention that I can't sign out of her icloud account because that's not available due to restrictions [link] [comments] |
Posted: 08 Feb 2021 08:35 PM PST MBP 13" 2017 Random ShutDown My MBP shut down randomly as I was surfing the web the other day - can't turn it back on and tried all trouble shooting steps. So weird as it's barely 3 years old and I only use it for school / Netflix. Has this happened to anyone? Has anyone had it resolved? Apple wants $513 for me just to send it in and have it looked at. I find it's ridiculous as I take very well care of it and it's so new!!! Any tips would be so appreciated! Re: very poor flight school student 😂 [link] [comments] |
iPad Pro corrupted an unopened external folder on USB Posted: 08 Feb 2021 08:00 PM PST I was trying to copy docs from dropbox onto an USB. When I plugged the USB into a laptop (HP) all the new docs could not be opened and a folder I didn't even access had it's contents deleted. 1. Is it possible to recover the last data? 2. Is it possible to copy info from Dropbox onto a USB in a useable format? (I can't access Dropbox directly because it's a work laptop and firewalls prevents access). [link] [comments] |
Kernel Panics (Macbook Pro 2020, OS 11.2) Posted: 08 Feb 2021 07:57 PM PST Given there's a lot of info to put in this post, I'll try to keep it brief. A lot of this info is coming off of my last Apple Support call so if some details seem extraneous, I apologize. TLDR: My Macbook Pro 2020 has been having frequent kernel panics: sometimes when connected to an external display, sometimes not. Sometimes when sleeping, sometimes when just running normally. One small suspicion I have is that it has to do with my university wifi and my laptop detecting a crazy amount of airplay devices when I use Bluetooth devices. I say this bc in 3 out of 11 crash reports I've read, "BluetoothHostController" is displayed as the culprit. Here's the first few lines of that crash report: (full report) panic(cpu 0 caller 0xffffff80133fe407): "IOBluetoothHostControllerUARTTransport::setPowerState(0xffffff937fa27e00 : 0xffffff8015234a16, 1 -> 0) timed out after 20522 ms"@/AppleInternal/BuildRoot/Library/Caches/com.apple.xbs/Sources/xnu/xnu-7195.81.3/iokit/Kernel/IOServicePM.cpp:5382 ...And of a crash report that doesn't show BluetoothHostController: (full report) panic(cpu 2 caller 0xffffff8011ca8e98): "lck_rw_unlock_shared(): lock 0xffffff8012850914 held in mode: 2\n"@/AppleInternal/BuildRoot/Library/Caches/com.apple.xbs/Sources/xnu/xnu-7195.60.75/osfmk/i386/locks_i386.c:1461 If any brave souls are willing to help me look into this more, I can provide more details in a follow-up. The big extra detail is this is my second MacBook to have these issues. My previous MacBook Pro also had kernel panic issues which is how I ended up with the one I have now... so help would be really appreciated haha! [link] [comments] |

Can Homepod Mini connect to Fitness+? Posted: 08 Feb 2021 07:51 PM PST Hi I Just bought a HomePod mini and was wondering if I could play Apple Fitness+ audio from it. It won't find the HomePod mini through Bluetooth and was a way to just play the audio so I can work out. I don't have an Apple TV so I don't know what other way I can boost the volume of the workouts from just my iPhone. [link] [comments] |
Posted: 08 Feb 2021 07:32 PM PST I have a great i7 8GB A1465 with a burnt LED. I can see the display on the screen but it's very, very dark. External monitor works just fine. I ordered a complete display assembly replacement and was so deflated after the install to see the same problem! I thought with the external display working that the system board was fine but maybe not??? What is the more likely scenario, I was sent a broken screen assembly or the system board needs replacing? Keyboard and trackpad not recognised Posted: 08 Feb 2021 07:23 PM PST I'm having a problem where once a week or so, my mac mini (M1 2020) will just refuse to recognise the magic keyboard and magic trackpad that I use to control it. The keyboard and trackpad are a few years older than the mac, but the fact that they both go out together would indicate that it's the mac just refusing to connect to them. As does the fact that restarting the mac resolves the issue (in the short term) whereas restarting the keyboard and trackpad doesn't This hasn't happened while I'm in the middle of anything, but then it's only happened four or five times, so I can't say for certain that it definitely only happens when the mac is asleep. Does anyone know what might be causing this? I spoke to Apple support, but they didn't have much that could help me [link] [comments] |

Posted: 08 Feb 2021 07:05 PM PST I feel cheated. This was so damn expensive and I don't even care for the fact that audio capabilities are limited on a supposed state of the art phone (LDAC not available on non-android devices) so I'm not getting what I thought was the best, but what kills me is the sudden stop of functionality of the back camera and flash/flashlight. What is this? Apparently this has happened to people for more than a year or so, but I don't know why my phone is doing this. I hate it and I'm on the verge of just getting a Samsung galaxy just to not have to deal with this anymore. I only have an apple phone for the aesthetic mainly, no other reason beyond that, because my dumb ass bought into flashiness over quality. [link] [comments] |

Posted: 08 Feb 2021 03:17 PM PST Hello all, I know this is probably a long shot, but is there a way I can recover permanently deleted photo? And when I say permanently I basically mean a photo from 2019. I specifically took it around November 2019, I have seen stuff like DiskDrill but it does help much. Thanks [link] [comments] |
Signed into app store, unable to accept new terms/conditions ,constant prompt for password. Posted: 08 Feb 2021 06:57 PM PST After switching away from apple because of constantly being harassed to sign into icloud, itunes, app store, my apple id, upgrade my storage, etc., life, through some sick and twisted sense of humor, has led me to have to use mac again. I recovered my id, signed into the app store and have to accept the new terms and conditions before I'm able to download numbers. That all I want to do... is download numbers. When I click to accept the terms, it prompts me for my password( nothings changed,it seems). Then it does it again. and again. and again.and again.and again.and again.and again. It told me on one occasion that it was wrong when I jumbled the keyboard hit enter. I've reset my password probably a dozen times and restarted the whole process over and over and over. I know it's not a matter of a wrong password as I'm able to sign into the apple website. I tried contacting apple support, but I'm just staring at a loading icon, so they're no help. I'm on a macbook 2015 air. v 10.15.6 Can anyone tell me what the fuck is going on here? Edit: I can't even look at my account info within itunes. Apple once again harasses me to sign in. iPhone photo recovery with dead screen Posted: 08 Feb 2021 02:33 PM PST Hello, I have an iphone 4s with a dead screen (charged fine) I want to get photos off it but I can't unlock the phone with the screen dead obviously. Should I pay to get the screen fixed solely for this or is there any other way? Phone hasn't been used in years. Thanks! [link] [comments] |
Posted: 08 Feb 2021 06:16 PM PST When I try to activate my iMessage , by logging in with my email and password (Apple ID), it says "Error Activating FaceTime . Try again " , or something along the lines of that . I've tried everything , from making my time is correct , changing my password , and waiting 24 hours . I even reset my whole device , and the message still appears . Any advice ? Also, I can't get help from apple Support , because iPods can't call, and if I choose the option to message apple, it takes me to iMessage and then tells me to login, prompting me with the error again . Any help? Thanks ! [link] [comments] |
