Must-have Applications on a new Macbook? Posted: 29 Jan 2021 01:40 PM PST So, I finally got my first ever Macbook (Air, M1) and, aside from an IPhone, I'm completely now to the Apple world. All I've ever used so far is Windows and sometimes Linux. I wonder, are there any apps you consider must have? I'm not looking for anything specific, just general tips would be great. thanks (: [link] [comments]
Big Sur 11.1 and KensingtonWorks Trackball Posted: 29 Jan 2021 06:44 PM PST I use a Trackball mouse from Kensington and ever since upgrading to Big Sur, it suddenly stops working and I have to switch over to using a standard mouse. It works again if I unplug it and plug it back in but that can get pretty annoying after a while. I'm running the latest version of KensingtonWorks. I contacted Kensington and then sent me a solution that didn't help (to change my energy settings to "Prevent computer from automatically sleeping...", which it was already set to), and then their support site wasn't working properly for me to follow up. Has anyone else had this issue or know a solution to it? [link] [comments]
Posted: 29 Jan 2021 11:56 PM PST I'm using Airplay to my LG TV. When I Airplay from my iPhone XS with iOS 14.4 it's at 60FPS. When I Airplay my Mac (M1 MBP) it's 30fps. Same with other Macs. Does Big Sur/macOS not support 60fps as the iPhone (iOS) does? [link] [comments]
Posted: 29 Jan 2021 04:10 PM PST I just bought a new MacBook Pro today with the M1 Chip and I wanted to give my sister my old Air. Anyways I tried to wipe it clean to give it to her so she's not looking at the mass amounts of midget porn I had downloaded. I screwed up and I now can't load MacOS I don't think I have a formatted HD anymore and it's basically a brick. When I try to start it I just get a circle with a line through it. I tried going into disk utilities and reinstall and it says the HD is corrupted or something. Can anyone help me out. Thank you [link] [comments]

M1 MBA - fn key, MX Keys & Master 3 & broken audio Posted: 29 Jan 2021 06:46 PM PST Just got my new M1 MBA and encountered the following issues related to keyboard, mouse and audio. Wondering if anyone having similar/same issues and able to fix them.
Sometimes the fn key (with globe) gives no response when I attempt to change input method With the option "Use F1, F2 etc. as standard function key" enabled, only volume adjustments and playback control work with fn key + respective f keys. Functions like Do Not Disturb & Siri do not work
Upon its first installation, it did not prompt me to allow all its required security and privacy permission as Logitech state, such as Input Monitoring
the OS has a few seconds delay of the expected responses of fn key + function keys (e.g. pressing fn + mute key will mute the audio after 5 to 10 seconds)
Customised settings, such as disabling mode shift button, sometimes do not apply. They 100% work only if I keep Logitech Option opened So many micro dropouts even though the Macbook is just 10cm from the mouse with no noticeable interference
The MBA is connecting to U2720Q monitor via a USB-C to USB-C cable, while the monitor has a 3.5mm line-out connecting to a soundbar. The audio output quality is exceptionally low. It seems like an issue caused by insufficient bandwidth on USB-C however the monitor displays 4K @60Hz HDR without any issue [link] [comments]

Big Sur 11.1 MBP 13” 2019- Apple Pay stuck processing doesn’t complete Posted: 29 Jan 2021 08:22 PM PST Has anyone seen a fix for when using Safari, from Apple's website no less using Apple Pay where it sticks at processing after Touch ID scans my fingerprint? I booted to safe mode and tried it and it worked. Rebooted back into my main user account normally and I get to the payment part, scan fingerprint and it stops there and says processing in the Touch Bar? [link] [comments]
Do Not Disturb mode + Menu Bar Clock Interactions Posted: 29 Jan 2021 08:17 PM PST Alright, now I have no clue what is going on. Previously, every time macOS Do Not Disturb mode was on, the Menu Bar Clock would dim. Now, after a few weeks and likely some changed settings, it doesn't dim with that as a trigger anymore. Does anybody know exactly what the interaction between the Do Not Disturb mode and the Menu Bar Clock dimming is? What exactly toggles the behavior. [link] [comments]
macOS equivalent of Chrome Video Speed Controller extension? Posted: 29 Jan 2021 04:13 PM PST Not sure where to post this query, but maybe someone here will be familiar with this. There's a chrome extension called Video Speed Controller that allows you to assign hotkeys to certain speeds at which you want to watch videos. It is extremely easy to use, and the speed change is almost instantaneous when watching videos. Does anyone know if there is some kind of equivalent software for macOS that allows you to do the same with actual video files (i.e. .mp4, .mov, etc.) that you view on the desktop (i.e., not on a browser)? I've been wondering about this for a while and it would definitely help to be able to have the same functionality of the video speed controller extension on downloaded videos. I am aware that you can technically change the speed of videos that you watch with Quicktime player, but it doesn't have anywhere near the functionality the chrome extension has with being able to assign hotkeys to certain speeds and being as intuitive/easy to use. OK to Delete Abandoned SparseBundle? Posted: 29 Jan 2021 07:20 PM PST I was running some tests using Time Machine to backup to a Synology NAS. As a result I have a sparsebundle file that has no purpose. Is it OK to delete that sparsebundle file? It does NOT have data I will need to retrieve. Ever. At all. For sure. I'm certain. :-) [link] [comments]

Help please! Safari 14 - "save password" takes up to 10 seconds with beachball - Big Sur MBA M1 Posted: 29 Jan 2021 01:53 PM PST Like the title says, whenever I'm dealing with a new password online, the beachball pops up for 3-10 seconds, and then the save password dialog box pops up. Has anyone else had this problem? [link] [comments]
Pulling website data into Numbers Posted: 29 Jan 2021 05:39 PM PST I was looking for a way to get some website data in numbers. I know it is possible in Excel and Google sheets. I was wondering if Numbers has this type of thing yet or if it still lags behind. [link] [comments]
