iOS 14 Keyboard Lag with iMessage

    Posted: 29 Jan 2021 11:48 PM PST

Ever since I upgraded to iOS 14, there has been a keyboard lag on all apps. It only occurs when I receive a text message notification and I'm typing on any app, my typing will stop and lag. I thought iOS 14.4 was meant to fix this bug but it's still there for me, anyone else have it?! I'm on iPhone 11.

Locale - how to adjust specific settings

    Posted: 30 Jan 2021 07:52 AM PST

    Hi,

On most of my electronic devices I use US locale and English language and I got used to it.

I wanted to have the same settings on my iPhone. However, there's one thing that bugs me. To be precise, while I prefer e.g. US number formatting, I am used to metric system instead of imperial. Is there a way to refine such settings? I know I can change measurement units in specific apps e.g. Maps, but other apps do not have this option and default to the one defined by your locale.

    Thanks for your help!

Any Battery issues on IOS 14.4?

    Posted: 30 Jan 2021 07:38 AM PST

I haven't seen any thoughts on the battery life for iPhones (new and old) with IOS 14.4 so... feel free to discuss below if the new iOS fixes the battery drain, or remains the same. I am curious enough to know if it does affects the recent phones because I sure know it affected the old ones quite a bit.

PS I am using an 11PM

    I phone email questions

    Posted: 30 Jan 2021 06:25 AM PST

Hello, unfortunately my life has taken a turn for the worse and I am in the process of getting a divorce. I have been corresponding with my lawyer through email. It dawned on me that my spouse has my email account on her phones and IMac. I deleted the emails using the desk top version of yahoo mail, she uses the standard iOS email app. Will her phone sync tabs remove these emails or does someone have to physically delete them?

Tl;dr Had private communication with lawyer on email, spouse has said email on multiple IOS devices. Will the email app sync and delete emails?

    I can’t update my phone 7 to iOS 14.4

    Posted: 30 Jan 2021 06:07 AM PST

It says I'm not connected to the internet each time I try to even though I am. This is preventing me from using cellular data which is a huge issue.

How do I upload 4K HDR footages to Youtube with iPhone 12 Pro?

    Posted: 30 Jan 2021 05:20 AM PST

I've tried iMovie but it doesn't work anymore. The videos are compressed to 1080p after uploading. Dolby Vision seems barely valuable with such limitation.

Just moved from Android to iOS, and ....

    Posted: 29 Jan 2021 07:17 PM PST

Question - hope it's okay to post it here. We moved to iPhone because of iMessage. Got the iPhone setup, moved the SIM card. iPhone was setup as new, nothing transferred. I tested messaging with a buddy who uses iPhone, and he "liked" the message. The problem is - I got a reply just like I used to get "liked" replies on Android. Meaning a copy of the message is displayed with "Liked" in front of the message. So what is happening? Any ideas how to fix this?

Edit: another issue I'm facing is that messages I'm typing in the Message App on my MacBook Pro, are not showing up in iMessage thread on the iPhone. iCloud is set, sync is set, etc. Weird.

All features that require Apple’s two-factor athentication

    Posted: 30 Jan 2021 04:01 AM PST

I am afraid of accidentaly locking myself out of my Apple ID, and I wanted to do a list to make me think whether or not updating to two-factor authentication, 2FA, (apart from security reasons) is worth it anyway. I thought why not about making it public since this information, as far as I know, isn't compiled anywhere else.

Ever since reading 'The dark side of Apple's two-factor authentication' by Owen Williams on The Next Web back in 2014, I've been avoiding updating to SFA. One day I will likely update, but as of now I feel like not doing it until SFA provides enough features I need. Below is a list of all features which I, as a user who has not activated 2FA, can not use. I intend to update it over time.

List of 2FA features * Settings - Screen time: Share Across Devices. * Settings - Apple ID - iCloud - Keychain: iCloud Keychain. * Settings - Apple ID - iCloud: Messages. * Settings (macOS) - Security and Privacy: Use your Apple Watch to unlock apps and your Mac. [1] * To use 'Sign in with Apple' for apps and websites. [2] * To login to 'App Store Connect' (For Developers who are Account Holders). Requires two-step verification that, if enabled, will automatically upgrade to two-factor authentication when logging into device on iOS 11, macOS High Sierra or higher [3]

If you know of a feature, I would appreciate if you can provide the "path" to where the feature is activated from. Typical prompts are "X Requires the Latest Account Security" and "Your account security needs to be upgraded to use two-factor authentication". The post is marked as discussion in case someone want to convince or reassure me how I will not accidentaly lock myself out of my Apple ID. I'd actually be very happy if someone was able to do that.

All 3rd party apps are crashing on 14.4 & previously on 14.3

    Posted: 30 Jan 2021 03:44 AM PST

It is a very annoying problem and I factory reset my iPhone XS Max more than 5 times already, and the problem goes away! until I try to update an app on the App Store, then the app doesn't get updated, and then other 3rd party apps crash, I reset my phone only to find myself back to the same first problem.

Mute all apps except Ring notifications

    Posted: 29 Jan 2021 09:29 PM PST

From what I've read I'm not sure it's possible, but figured I'd ask here just in case. I'd like to be able to sleep with my phone muted for all notifications/apps except Ring. Some sort of override or the like.

I suppose I could manually turn off sound to all apps except Ring, but that's a ton of work to do every night.

Music listeners! High Volume notifications is finally done reducing your audio level!

    Posted: 29 Jan 2021 07:53 PM PST

Since iOS 14.4, the High Volume Exposure notification only plays the tone when giving you a notification, but doesn't reduce the volume anymore!

To completely get rid of it, in the bluetooth settings of your device, change the device type to stop your iPhone from giving you these notifications for headphone.

    Handoff too strong on 14.4?

    Posted: 29 Jan 2021 07:11 PM PST

Wondering if anyone else is having this issue. My HomePod mini is on my desk, pretty close to me, about 1.5 feet from where I sit. Problem is, with the new handoff update whenever I simply use my phone and hold it up normally in front of me while sitting at my desk, it starts vibrating and asks me to handoff to HomePod even when no audio is playing. It happens constantly and is honestly pretty annoying. I feel like they need to improve the range in which the sensors begin the transition. On a related note, the handoff feature is a bit clunky and i feel like it's more work now, because it makes you interact by pressing a button to handoff. Was hoping it'd be better, it's really just an annoyance that I may have to just turn off.

Can some one suggest a reader with a Most Popular/Trending smart filter like the one Feedly has?

Reason why I don't use Feedly is because it doesn't have an the option to full-extract text.

    Apple One question

    Posted: 30 Jan 2021 01:12 AM PST

Guys I wanna get the apple one subscription family plan with my cousin. But I'm doubtful as it is possible because we don't live under the same roof. I've heard that Spotify doesn't allow it under its family plan. Just wanted to confirm before I move forward. I didn't find anything about this particular thing online.

Any help is appreciated. Thank you.

    new iPhone 11 with bugs/glitches

    Posted: 30 Jan 2021 12:26 AM PST

Hello friends, so recently i switched from an s7 edge to a brand new iphone 11.Not my first phone, i used to have a 5s, and when i had the s7 i realized i prefer ios so i switched back. The thing is, im actually having a decent amount of bugs/glitches and it kinda surprised me. I will list some of these bellow:

Some apps take a few seconds to register my touch on the screen.

Sometimes, when im on instagram playing video and i change app or change tab inside of IG, the audio of the video keeps playing (this happens also on browser.)

Some apps get stuck and i have to close and open them.

When im inside with wifi and then i go outside, the phone has no data signal and i have to switch airplane mode on and off in order to fix this.

IDK if this are all the glitches but they are along these lines.

These glitches dont happen always but much more than i would like or imagine. Im still satisfied with the product but not 100%. Can anybody tell me something about this?

I restored the phone and then immediately backed it up with all my info but this didnt solve anything.(maybe i need to restore it and leave it like brand new (?????))

    Thank you in advance

    Siri response speed

    Posted: 29 Jan 2021 11:39 PM PST

With the last couple months I upgraded to an iPhone 12 Pro Max from an iPhone 7 Plus. Is it just me or is Siri super slow on the 12 for simple things? I use my daughter's 6s to do simple math and it comes back nearly instantly. On the 12 it's probably 5 seconds. What gives??

Switching from Bear + GoodNotes to Apple Notes

    Posted: 29 Jan 2021 08:14 AM PST

Instead of having 2 apps, it seems Apple Notes has become powerful enough to cover both apps for me.

Markdown on Bear is great but I'm not really crazy on tagging and Apple Notes folders is good enough for me. With the latest Apple Notes, I can easily switch between typing note and sketching idea on the same page/app. It seems GoodNotes is kind of redundant.

Has anyone made the same switch?
