    Repair or replace?

    I have a 2017 MacBook. I'm debating whether to repair it or replace it. Currently running Big Sur. Here's what's going on:

    • sticky keys (have been addressed by Genius Bar, needs to have the entire top case replaced to resolve)
    • crazy hot after minimal use
    • broken backlight on keyboard, could be attached to a larger logic board issue
    • occasional random screen malfunctions (fading to white/gray, once it faded to purple and that was cool; freezes; text bunches together on restart screen)

    I have been facing a really strange issue from from last apple update 2 months back when automatically the phone was not able to discover signals , I tried all possible ways nothing worked , today I cannot even update the ios on iphone 7 , can anyone suggest?

    After doing factory reset with “mount -uw / + rm /var/db/ .AppleSetupDone + shutdown -h now” I have this screen for the past 8 hours or so. Is it normal? Or can anyone advice about what I need to do? Thanks in advance ���� (*iMac c2d 2.16 20, *Mac OS X 10.6.8)

    iPad Pro, first gen. Unfortunately don't know the full Name.

    Last night I feel asleep with Netflix running on my iPad. Charger connected. When I woke up the screen was black but glowing and the iPad didn't react to anything. I decided to hold the home and power buttons for a while until the screen turned off. From that point there was no reaction to anything :(

    Tried charging with a different charger. No reaction.

    Got no Apple shop around so obviously it would be great to be able to solve this on my own but I'm out of ideas. There's only so many buttons.

    Any way to purchase iOS apps without device?

    I recently dug out my old iPad 2. It still works great (kinda). Obviously, it is stuck on iOS 9.3.5 and can't be updated to meet the minimum requirements for most apps on the store.

    If I attempt to download any new apps, it doesn't even try and tells me the iPad is incompatible. However, I did learn that if I use the Purchased tab I can redownload previous apps and it even offers to download the latest version that still works on the device.

    Is there any way to force a purchase of an app? Through the website, setting or otherwise? So they appear as available in my Purchased tab. The only way I could think of would be to ask someone to let me sign into their iPad and buy it there, but I don't really know anyone.

    Hello, I am completely new to the apple line of products; I'm coming from pc and android.

    Notice when I search for apps on the app store on my mac, some apps do not come up whereas they will on my iphone.

    Does apple make it so apps that only work on iphone don't show up on the mac search results?

    Is there a way to connect the mac and iphone so I can check my app history on my mac or download apps to my iphone from my mac?

    Recovering media from IPhone 5C

    Hey guys,

    I know that I'm like 5 years too late for this but maybe someone here can tell me if this is at all possible.

    Back in 2016, I was traveling Thailand and used mainly an iPhone 5C as well as an HTC one M8 for pictures and videos while I was travelling (Spent a month in Thailand, a month in Japan and 6months in Korea).

    I would love to be able to recover the files on both that iPhone and the HTC. Sadly, both devices are currently broken.

    I had backed up the HTC to my laptop at the time, but that got stolen so I currently have zero pictures from my travels way back when.

    The reason I am positing in the iPhone page is cause I actually did a Thai Boxing match one day there. It was recorded on another tourists iPhone, then it was "Airdropped" to my iPhone (not an iPhone guy usually so I had no idea that was even possible).

    I posted the first round (link below) to my Instagram page so at the very least I have that, but I would looooove to have the rest of the match. (On top of the Hundreds and hundreds of pictures I had on there).

    The iPhone hasn't turned on in a long time, and currently does not charge.

    Is there any way for me to get these files back?

    I tried accessing the old iCloud account in hopes it was all backed up but my iCloud looks completely empty.

    Mac Mini 6,1...unique hardware issue

    I've got an issue that i hope isn't so unique that I'm completely on my own...

    Necessary background: got this Mini from a pawn shop several years ago. The Apple ID was locked, so I didn't have any way to get into OSX on it. However, I was able to install Win7, and used it in that configuration for a number of years. About 9 months ago, after having not used it at all for a year or more, I suddenly had use for it, and using a USB drive, installed Xubuntu on it.

    Here's the problem: I now need to actually reinstall Xubuntu, but I can't get the Mini to boot from USB at all. I've tried every key and combination of keys that I can think of to get to a place where I can alter the boot options, but I've had no luck at all so far.

    Does anyone have any clue at all?

    Battery services?

    Hello, I tried to look for this in Apple's website but couldn't find an answer. I am getting a second hand iPhone 11 Pro Max that has a decent battery health but in the future would I be able to get a battery replacement in an Apple Store. Of course I know I have to pay and I wouldn't be qualified for Apple Care, but is it still possible to get a replacement at all?

    [Question] How can I see the keywords/tags Photos automatically apply to pictures?

    In Photos on macOS and iOS, pictures will automatically be assigned tags so that I can search for terms like "Beach", "Car", "Baby" etc. without ever having assigned these tags myself. These tags are obviously assigned to each individual picture in some way, but they don't show up in Info (⌘-I) or in the Keyword Manager (⌘-K). Does anyone know how I can explore what tags are assigned to a particular picture, and if by chance there is any way for me to browse all the tags that Photos has used in my library?

    (I'm running Big Sur 11.1 and Photos 6.0.)

    An album I bought shows up in my list of songs with everything, but not in the album. I’ve tried editing the metadata, in iTunes on my computer, maybe I haven’t edited the right sections?

    The albums is Madlands by Halsey, and the problem, I think, is that there's a part 1 and part 2, and after I bought one song from part 2, the "complete" album I already had of part 1, has disappeared from the artist in my library.

    It's not hidden from my purchases or anything, and it's definitely downloaded to my phone, I can find all the songs if I go to the full list of all my songs, but it won't show up in the album or even under her as an artist

    I tried taking out all the artists who collaborated and made everything by her solo. I made the sorting album by her.

    Any ideas of what else to do?

    Laptop stops loading things? MacBook Air 2020

    I have a MacBook Air 2020 I bought it as soon as it came out and as of lately I've been having an issue of everything will stop loading completely like I can't even go through my apple store or my settings. It gets to the point where I have to restart my laptop or just push it aside and wait for it to load. I have no idea what to do I've even started deleting things in my finder and clearing my history every night in hopes that it's simply that I have too much( even though I don't have much) I use it for school a lot and I honestly use it a lot to watch tv or listen to music through the day.

    Add iCloud.come email to Apple ID in iOS/iPadOS 14?

    Hello,

    My AppleID was originally created using a Gmail address but I'd like to add an iCloud email address. I've heard many differing opinions on this but also learned that there were changes on this in iOS 14. Some people warned not to add an iCloud email to my primary AppleID because if I get locked out, I can't get an email so create yet another AppleID. Others have said that the Gmail address will stay on my AppleID account so it's not an issue. I think this is confirmed now in iOS 14 so I can definitely keep both email addresses (new iCloud and Gmail) both on the AppleID so that there's a second email if I need to get a lockout code.

    I'm wondering what you think and if I'm OK to just go ahead and create and iCloud email on my primary AppleID or if I do need to create an extra one. My spouse and I already share an AppleID for Apps and such so that IAPs are shared (before this became possible to do in Family Sharing, if devs choose to offer it). I'm just not sure I really want to deal with a third AppleID or maybe it's not that big of a deal. Anyway, I'd love to hear your thoughts. Thanks so much! I'd really appreciate anything you share so I can learn more.

    do i have to buy a usb-c power adapter? Or can i just get any brand?

    the usb-c to lightning cable comes with my new iphone 12 mini, but it doesnt come with the usb-c powder adapter. Can i use any brand power adapter, or does it have to be the apple one? I heard that any brand other than apple in general for chargers can be bad for your phone

    Is it possible to clone one drive with multiple partitions to another drive and have it retain those partitions? Including if those partitions are bootable?

    I have created a drive that has multiple bootable Mac OS installers (Big Sur, and the previous few versions) on individual partitions. Now I want to clone the entire drive without having to do each partition individually. Is such a thing possible? If so, how?

    I believe that Carbon Copy Cloner can do it (not positive), but I'm looking for a way that doesn't require paid software.

    so i spilled orange juice on my macbook air

    i spilled oj on my macbook air 9its a 2020 one btw) and now the caps lock shift and fn key are sticky and it seems the shift key is the worst affected. ive seen thing saying it will corrode eventually and i'm really worried. what should i do to fix this?

    Hey guys, after spending hours on the phone with Apple I was wondering if perhaps one or more of you had the answers I need.

    I am attempting to upgrade from an older version to the newest possible for my device.

    I am currently running a MacBook Pro/ MacBookPro11,1. The computer was running quite slow as it's old, so as per comments online I decided to follow instructions to recover the unit in hopes to restore it to factory defaults. The unit has since become stuck in an older version of the operating system and as of now will not find any updates using the traditional method of Apple Button / Software Update.

    The current software update that it shows me in about this MAC is OS X 10.9.5 (13F1911)

    I had contacted Apple support with no solution. I am not very smart with computers, so any assistance on the matter would be greatly, greatly appreciated.

    MacBook Air keeps going into sleep mode when charger is plugged in

    I've had my MacBook for 3 years now. Last month my old charger wasn't automatically connecting, the light stopped showing and it would only work sporadically. However I found that my sister's charger worked perfectly fine so I assumed it was the charger and purchased a new one.

    Now I'm using the new charger and I often find that when it is plugged in, it take a while to actually charge the battery. It does that thing where it will maintain the battery but not charge it. In addition to this, when the charger is plugged in, it glitches and goes in and out of sleep mode which is incredibly annoying. Please help.

    I've checked the battery cycles and it's at 278.

    Xbox Series X/S Controller support

    Still patiently waiting for support on iOS. Anyone have any clue on a timeline besides "soon" or "they're working on it". Trying to use the remote play feature on the Xbox is kinda hard without a controller that can connect to iOS ...

    Whenever I use Preview, my MacBook crashes. Can anyone recommend alternative software for viewing/lightly editing images?

    Pretty much as the title says. Using Preview makes my MacBook crash. With my very limited knowledge, I've tried to resolve the problem (e.g., running verify/repair disc, wiping my computer and reinstalling the OS), but the issue persists. So I guess all I can do now is just avoid using Preview. Anyone know of any (hopefully free) comparable substitutes that would work on my late 2011 MacBook Pro, on which I'm running Yosemite 10.10.5? Thank you!

    MacBook M1 buzzes sometimes when charging

    I've noticed a few people have had this problem and it's generally nothing to worry about- It's to do with the plug not being grounded. But I've noticed my MacBook Pro buzzes more in certain outlets than others, and I wanted to know if this is anything to be concerned about.
