YouTube App on AppleTV is trash Posted: 05 Nov 2020 12:19 PM PST Am I the only one who thinks the YouTube App on AppleTV is GOD AWFUL?! The user interface is absolute trash. It feels like whatever I want the app to do or whatever feels natural, the app does the opposite of. I don't even know how to rewind a video if I wanted to. Trashhhh [link] [comments]

I have questions before buying! Help a noob out please Posted: 06 Nov 2020 02:42 AM PST Hello! I recently bought samsung 43tu7000 4k TV and it doesn't support dts hd ma, dts etc. I'm using plex to play my 4K rips but it transcodes(nightmare) since my tv doesn't support dts. Also my tv does support pcm. I'm thinking to buy Apple TV and infuse so can it play everything? And I don't have a soundbar. My TV and appletv+infuse is enough or do I have to get a soundbar that supports dts anyway? Help me out please! [link] [comments]

Posted: 05 Nov 2020 08:13 PM PST I've had a few friends sign into their accounts on my Apple TV over the years. Now everytime I sign into something I see their email addresses as options. Is there a way to remove these previously used addresses from the Apple TV entirely? [link] [comments]
Posted: 05 Nov 2020 05:57 PM PST Has anyone else noticed the quality of the TNF stream on the Fox Sports app or Fox Now App has gotten a lot worse? Last week, I noticed the picture didn't look anywhere near as good as it used to. I swiped down on the remote and noticed that there was a "HD" indicator next to the genre instead of the "4K" that had been there in the past. The apps have the 4K badge in the program listing, but it doesn't seem its actually playing the 4K stream (I know Fox is really just upconverting 1080). I haven't changed any settings in my television, and the Apple TV 4K is connected via Ethernet and gets over 600 Mbps on a Speedtest. Is anyone else seeing this issue? [link] [comments]

Posted: 05 Nov 2020 10:50 PM PST I've been debating buying an Apple TV, but I am afraid I do not know much about it. Why is it better than something like a chromecast or roku or regular smart tv? I have an iPhone and macbook pro, so assume the integration is pretty seamless. I also see there is free tv??? for a year, included in the purchase. What else? What is the storage used for? I assume I should just get the larger model? I tried reading through this sub to get an idea, but honestly all I see are people posting about problems lol. Makes me sort of wonder, but im fairly technical so I am not too worried about working through challenges... just trying to convince myself I should buy it. If I bought Apple TV, would I want to cancel YouTube TV or netflix? Thanks. [link] [comments]
WEIRD: HDR signal working for everything EXCEPT actual HDR content Posted: 05 Nov 2020 10:19 PM PST Okay, here's the deal: I've had an Apple TV for like two years and then an Apple TV 4K for like 2-3 years – and also I'm fairly comfortable with the settings for my TV and soundbar – so I'm sort of able to pin down where the issue lies, but I don't see how I can fix it. Basically, the HDR video on iTunes Movies just isn't looking right, with the whites at about 50% what they'd should be. I've set the Apple TV to NOT match content or frame rate or anything, so it's just giving out either the HDR or the Dolby Vision signal (tried this both ways), and everything looks great as far as menus, SDR content on YouTube, games, etc. (so it's not the TV). BUT when I start HDR content (doesn't matter if it's HDR or Dolby Vision), the image gets super washed out (ie blacks are basically normal, colors are saturated enough, but the peak brightness is like 50% of what it should be). That is, the signal to the TV isn't changing, so it's just the video content that is being somehow screwed up by the Apple TV 4K en route to the display. If I remove and plug the HDMI back into the Apple TV when an HDR movie is paused, it will show the frame with the correct dynamic range... only until I press play, and the video will snap back into this horrid, dim version. It's also not the cable. :) Has anyone experienced this and what the hell is going on! Please help, thank you very much. <3 TLDR: HDR/Dolby Vision work fine for displaying SDR content, look terrible when showing HDR content – but it really, really isn't the TV. [link] [comments]
AppleTV 4K - YouTube app only plays HDR if my TV’s audio is set to internal Posted: 05 Nov 2020 01:29 PM PST With recent updates to AppleTV 4K tv OS and the YouTube app, it will finally play 4K HDR videos. However, Youtube will drop to SDR video if my TV's audio output is set to external/home theater (not the actual TV, not Apple TV). If my TV is set to use its internal speakers, YouTube HDR playback works. Has anybody else seen behavior like this from YouTube on Apple TV 4K? All other HDR content I've tried (iTunes movies, Netflix, Disney+) hasn't cared a bit what th TV's audio output is set to. Only YouTube. [link] [comments]
Question about “Remove from Up Next” and “Remove from Recently Watched” Posted: 05 Nov 2020 05:07 PM PST What's the difference? In the "Watch Now" area, when you long press an item listed in the "Up Next" list, these two options are presented (along with a couple others). So what's the difference between them, as selecting either one seems to essentially do the same thing? Am I missing something? [link] [comments]
Posted: 05 Nov 2020 06:26 AM PST What's everyone using for HDMI cables? I'm on 14.2 beta and been getting error messages saying to update my settings or replace my HDMI cable on both of my 4K ATVs. But not on the non 4K models. All 4 have the same basic cables. Anyone using high speed cables? Didn't think it was worth the upgrade yet, but it looks like l may have too. [link] [comments]
My Apple TV can’t connect to WiFi! Posted: 05 Nov 2020 04:00 PM PST My Apple TV won't connect to wifi no matter how many times we restart our modem or restart the Apple TV or unplug it. We can't even forget the network because it keeps freaking loading and loading and loading and never forgets the network! I don't know what to do. I am frustrated because this is very annoying. Does Apple TV (HD / 4K) wake to start of AirPlay stream? Posted: 05 Nov 2020 02:23 PM PST Hey, I heard or at least my current assumption is that if you start an AirPlay of anything from a mobile device to an Apple TV, it wakes it up without having to manually turn it on. Does that actually work like that? I just got a new apartment and I'm planning out all the home automation stuff, and it'd be real good if I could just start netflix on my phone, choose the TV and have the whole shebang turned on without any other manual steps. The projector it will be conneted to will be turned on via Home Assistant and an IR transmitter by telling my HomePod "Hey Siri, turn on the TV". Now that I think about it, maybe I could also send a "turn on" command to the Apple TV through Home Assistant, but it'd still be better if the "wake to AirPlay stream" would work. Kodi-esque Interface for Streaming Posted: 05 Nov 2020 09:59 AM PST I've been paying for streaming services for years but primarily using Kodi + Radarr + Sonarr to watch media because I much prefer the simplified nature of a Kodi library. Which is to say, only the shows and movies I care about in the interface, without having to search them out individually. I am trying really hard to make the switch to an Apple TV 4K, but I can't seem to find any way to build out a list of all the shows and movies I want to watch and have them showup in an easy UI -- similar to Kodi's Movies and TV Shows views -- which would then pull up the option to stream from a service I pay for or rent/purchase? Is there any kind of similar interface for streaming? [link] [comments]
Posted: 05 Nov 2020 10:45 AM PST Anyone know what could be causing True Motion (soap opera setting) to automatically turn on on a 66 LG 4K tv? I've only noticed it on my Apple TV [link] [comments] |
