I've installed the latest version of TV OS... We will have three accounts on this Apple TV. One for myself, one for my gf, and one for our nine year old. There is one thing I can't seem to figure out... How can you make sure that a child, or anybody else who happens to be at your house, just can't simply switch to another account? Can each user have a pin like you do on the iPhone, iPad, and Apple watch? If so, I cannot find this setting! Surely this is doable somehow? I'm new with the Apple TV so maybe I'm just missing something here... Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks. [link] [comments]  | ||

| Airplay drops when MacBook plays video Posted: 01 Nov 2020 01:56 AM PDT I think there must be a bug in the latest AppleTV update that causes my 2013 MacBook Pro running Mojave to disconnect from AirPlay whenever a video starts playing. Whether it's VLC, QuickTime, Youtube, or iTunes, as soon as a new video starts my AirPlay connection will be lost with a dialog saying "Could not connect to "<AppleTV Name>" (with my actual TV name in the <>). This is a really weird one and I don't know what to do about it. I've tried turning off my MacBook, AppleTV, router and modem all at once for 2 minutes. I can reproduce this issue reliably with two separate AppleTVs both running the latest OS version. If a video is already playing the connection will be fine and the video will play on the TV as expected, but when it switches to the next episode, or if you try to start a new video in a player, the connection is dropped. From my TV when I switch to HDMI2 (Apple TV) it activate the Apple TV for a few seconds but then switch back to the TV. I have to force it to go back to the Apple TV and if I press « menu » a few times on the Apple TV it work, but that's annoying. Why is it doing that ? [link] [comments]  | ||

| Plex vs Infuse for MKV Collection on NAS Posted: 31 Oct 2020 04:16 PM PDT I have a collection of Blu-rays ripped via MakeMKV and am now looking to find an effective (and hopefully simple) way of accessing/watching this collection on my AppleTV and possibly (but not necessarily) on my other devices. Per my research here and elsewhere, I know I'll first need to get an appropriate NAS, but after that, things get a bit more confusing. There's a lot of back and forth about Infuse and Plex, and sometimes about just using both together. I made 1:1 rips and am aiming to minimize video and audio quality loss (I understand there are some issues with AppleTV and audio, but I'm willing to overlook those for one-device access to Netflix, Hulu, etc along with my personal collection). I would love to be able to access these files on my other devices outside my home, but that's not a requirement (am I right in thinking this is where Plex would help?). Basically, I'm wondering if for this use case, Infuse, Plex, or both make more sense? I appreciate any guidance you all can give me! [link] [comments]  | ||

I'm think to buy a wall projector. Any experiences or advices for such a configuration? I'm not a movie/tv geek, and I don't plan for big screenshows with friends. It would be more for the occasional normal use: news, some Netflix, ... A prolonged use efficiency and energy consumption would be preferable than, say, 4K/5k resolution. [link] [comments]  | ||

| Noob Questions: HDR vs Dolby Vision Frame rate and „Connect Prime Video prompt“ Posted: 31 Oct 2020 06:10 AM PDT Hi all - i just connected my apple TV 4k to my LG B6 and when selecting video modes, i can only select Dolby Vision at 4k30 and HDR at 4k60 - is this part of the spec for dolby vision or some bug with my setup? (I have an ultra high speed hdmi cable and 4kHDR60 4:2:2 works fine). Also, when launching prime video there was a prompt to connect it to apple tv or something, unfortunately i rage-closed it by reflex. Now i am wondering whether it might have been to show prime content in the native tv app/search which would be awesome, but i can't find any related setting - can anyone point me in the right direction on this?
