Why on earth is there no jiggle mode in Control Center?

    Posted: 15 Oct 2020 01:46 PM PDT

This honestly seems like a feature Apple could've easily added starting with iOS and iPadOS 14. Even watchOS has it. Seriously, reordering the controls from the Settings app is extremely cumbersome (you know exactly what I mean if you've ever done this, which chances are you probably have).

And, yes, I've mentioned this in the past through their product feedback page and in Feedback Assistant via the Apple Beta Software Program.

Edit: Wow! Thanks for the interaction guys. I've read a lot of good points of why and why not this would be a bad idea. Based on what I've read so far, here's my new suggestions:

    • If the user activates jiggle mode from the Home Screen, then Control Center will also be in jiggle mode. Jiggle mode is still stopped from the Home Screen as usual.
      • This seems to make sense since swiping through pages on the Home Screen and going to App Library still keeps you in jiggle mode.
    • Finally (or alternatively), Settings > Control Center should just be redesigned. Instead of being a list for the "Included Controls", it could mimic the look of Control Center so that users can easily drag and drop the controls in the position they want all from Settings > Control Center.
      • of course, the user would have to tap on an "edit" button in Settings > Control Center before they could reorganize it, to prevent accidental actions while the user is scrolling through the table.
