    Why is my screen temperature constantly going from cool to warm? True tone is off.

    I've have a 2020 MacBook Air for about 3 weeks and I started realizing this a few days ago. It doesn't seem to affect performance but it's really annoying having my screen go back and forth from a bluish tint to a yellowish one. It seems to happen every 5-10 minutes or so when I am using my laptop in a darker room. I'm on Catalina 10.15.6.

    It’s not a bug it’s a feature. I unplugged the display HDMI cable, plugged it back in and it worked again but it was weird when it happened.

    Hey, folks. This is the dumbest question ever, I'm so sorry I have to ask it. I take a lot of screenshots as a part of my job, and after I take them I sort them from one file into another.

    I can't, for the life of me, figure out how to "cut" a file. command + X would be the way I'd have done it in ages past. Now I seem to have to copy the file, paste it in the new location, then go back and delete the original.

    Hopefully, I can explain this clearly.

    I have set up rules for sorting incoming emails into folders.
    The problem is with these folders, I no longer have a single place that shows ALL emails. To see emails that have been moved to a folder, I have to either

    1) Open the folder directly or
    2) Use the Smart Mailbox I set up which shows ALL unread emails, including ones that have been moved to a folder.

    Is there a way to show all messages in ONE place? Or am I using the folders wrong?

    Finder 'Tags...' custom ⌘E keybinding stops responding

    Hi,

    I bound ⌘E in System Settings / Keyboard / Shortcuts / App Shortcuts and added the 'Tags...' menu option from Finder.

    I followed these instructions How to add a shortcut for Finder tags on macOS Mojave and Catalina.

    It works for a few minutes. Then keybinding stops responding, just making the error sound when a wrong keybinding is being pressed.

    If I Relaunch Finder again it works for a few minutes again...

    Any ideas why?

    Bluetooth disappeared on Catalina

    So I was having some trouble with Bluetooth lately as it was showing "Bluetooth: Not Available". To fix this problem I did a fresh MacOS install but now the Bluetooth option isn't even there! System doesn't recognise any Bluetooth hardware and I even tried resetting SMC/NVRAM but with no results.

    Has anyone had this issue? How can I fix this?

    Photoshop CS5 Help with Catalina

    I know. They warned us for over a year that 32 bit programs wouldn't be accessible in newer Mac updates. I had been staying on High Sierra OS until today for that very reason. However, I had to update to a newer OS to live stream a video game with my friend's Elgato. So I did it, thinking it would be easy to find a work around or to be able to undo the OS update and revert to my previous settings.

    I was a fool.

    I am a freelance digital artist and rely heavily on CS5 for my work. I'm kind of panicking that none of the work arounds (the launching from package contents with terminal trick) I looked up before making the update are working. I do not have the money to subscribe to Adobe CC. I feel sick that I just lost almost a decades worth of brushes (including ones I have made) and that I might have to suddenly learn how to use an entirely new program now.

    Is there anyway to make CS5 work on Catalina?

    If not, can I safely revert back to High Sierra without losing my files? I can back up my files this weekend (I left my time machine back with my folks in Houston and I haven't been back since COVID shut everything down, so it has been a while since I've backed up).

    Cracking sound in left speaker switch to mono?

    Hi I am facing an issue with my macbook pro (early 2015 model, retina display), I am experiencing a cracking sound coming from the L speaker. I switched the balance of the output to the R speaker and still the sound is not very clear. Is there a way to switch the audio to mono then choose the R speaker? Or any other way to fix the L speaker ? Never dropped the laptop or had any liquid or other kind of damage done to it. Never opened it either so could be the dust settling in the speaker? Total noob here so have no idea. The laptop does run a little hot too but no other issues.

    Movies rented in the new TV app won't download

    So Apple broke up iTunes into separate apps and my understanding is that the "TV" app is now where I should go to rent movies. I wouldn't bother with Apple over YouTube or Amazon but I want to watch a movie on my Mac offline and TV/iTunes is the only way to do that.

    I was able to rent the movie but clicking download just shows a loading circle for a few seconds and then goes back to the original download symbol. The movie doesn't show up in my library under Downloaded or anywhere else. I have to search the title again to find it because there's no indication anywhere that I've rented it.

    Clearly TV is meant for their subscription service and they've shoehorned the movie rental in and broken it in the process. I can hardly search for solutions because the app is just vaguely called "TV" and I get results about the subscription service and the physical Apple TV box.

    Anyone know of a workaround to get a rented movie to download locally on MacOS?

    I usually do spotify stuff and watch video with subtitles, the apple tv app on my macbook takes control of many of the same trackpad shortcuts I use, is there any way to disable or adjust this?

    External CD Drive Issues

    I just got my MacBook Air. Newest update, newest model. I also got a External drive so I can upload my music from my CDs onto my laptop. I've scoured the internet trying to figure out why the drive won't show up. I've checked Disk Utility, checked off External Drives to show up. I've restarted and did the NVRAM thing. It works just fine with my moms laptop. The only difference is that hers has a USB port and mine has a USB-C port with a USB adapter. The ISB adapter works fine with other devices. Nothing has worked. Is there a way to solve this or am I out of luck?

    Multi-User Volume

    Hi! I'm... fairly new to using Macs, and have an iMac 2 set up that I share with my wife. I'm running the Big Sur Beta; this isn't our only computer, so I feel okay trying out the latest and greatish.

    One issue that I'm running in to, that I'm not sure is a Beta issue, or just something with Mac: My wife likes to have her volume on max when she's signed in... when I sign in, instead of using my last volume level, instead it's maxed out. Which is great as I get a backlog of notifications blasting out of the speakers at max volume a foot from my face.

    Is this something I'll have to just live with? Feature? Bug? Workaround?

    Catalina on Mid 2011 Mac 12,2

    I read that Catalina OS shouldn't be installed on mid 2011 - 12,2 model Macs because the graphics card is not compatible.

    I was wondering has anyone tried to install and run Catalina on their mid 2011 - late 2012 Mac? If so, is it worth it to install Catalina o. These particular macs?

    Toggle Light/Dark Mode at top of Notification Center?

    Is this possible? Currently Night Shift and Do Not Disturb toggles are there and I never use Night Shift. I'd rather not download an app just for this. Anyone have a faster workaround than going through system preferences?

    Backing Up From IOS File

    Hi! Recently upgraded from a XS Max to a 11 Pro Max. I backed up my stuff on my Macbook Air Catalina 10.15.3 (updated) but when I wish to restore my backup, it does not detect the IOS file.

    I can locate the file on my storage but it is named with just numbers and not "My Name's Backup File" or something like that. Is there any way I could get this fixed? Would really appreciate the help!

    Logitech MX master series having issues

    1) every time I restart my laptop, my Logitech mouse and keyboard aren't connected. I keep my MacBook docked. So this means I have to undock, log in, and then redock. Anyone know of a fix?

    2) every once in awhile I'll notice my logi settings are no longer working. It'll move back to default and no matter how many times I close the logi app, restart, or edit settings nothing happens. Anyone know of a fix?

    I have MacBook Pro (13-inch, Early 2011) running 10.13.6 High Sierra. I also have an iphone with another appleID (work) which I use a lot, and I found it frustrating to send myself every little small thing as email to myself, etc. There must be a better way!

    How do I get text (copy & paste), photos, pictures, files, from my phone to my macbook and vice versa?

    Am I completely out of luck with airdrop? I tried and tried, and nothing. regadless if I have bluetooth on, regardless if both things are on the same wifi, nothing...what can I do?
