Should I use my Logitech Keyboard or the Apple Pencil for my high school notes on my iPad Pro 11“?

    Posted: 27 Sep 2020 12:52 PM PDT

I bought them both but recognized that handwritten note-taking is sometimes better... Does anyone have experiences with this?

Transfering 4k gopro videos to iPad question

    Posted: 27 Sep 2020 01:21 PM PDT

Hey everyone. I recently bought a GoPro that records in 4k, and I was wondering what would be the fastest method to transfer the video files to my 10.5 inch iPad Pro? I'm on Apples site right now and they have a TON of different lightning to SD card readers and I wasn't sure which would be the best suited. I record on micro sd cards for reference.

    Thanks for any suggestions!

    Hinge 'click' when opening?

    Posted: 27 Sep 2020 02:20 PM PDT

If it's been unused for maybe half an hour, opening it causes an audible click. Unsure if hinge or if it's the plastic material pulling away from the metal hinge. Anyone else noticed this? Have had the keyboard since release.

How is the iPad Pro 10.5 and the iPad 7th Gen performing on iOS 14?

    Posted: 27 Sep 2020 07:59 AM PDT

I have an iPad Pro 10.5 and I'm curious about how it's performing on iOS 14. My iPad Pro 10.5 is still on iOS 12.4.1 and I did not want to update to iOS 13 because I didn't want the performance to take a hit. If I decide to update to iOS 14 will I expect a huge performance hit in opening apps and multitasking? I want to update to IOS 14 just so I could use procreate for drawing other wise I don't care to update.

iPadOS 14 randomly showing an onscreen keyboard when iPad is connected to an apple keyboard case

    Posted: 27 Sep 2020 01:49 PM PDT

Since I updated my iPad, the onscreen keyboard have been randomly popping up in apps like messages even though my iPad Pro is connected to an apple magic keyboard at all times. This was never an issue in iPadOS 13. Disconnecting and reattaching the keyboard doesn't make it go away. I have to follow these steps to get rid of it:

    • hit the hide keyboard icon at the bottom right corner
    • hit the keyboard options icon at the bottom right corner
    • choose the hide keyboard option

And it only works sometimes - the onscreen keyboard would still reappear when I tap the text bar. Sometimes when I go to another conversation and go back to the previous one, the onscreen keyboard just disappears.

Considering how randomly this happens, I have to assume that this is a bug. Would anyone know a quick fix or workaround?

    Mouse & Keyboard Recommendations?

    Posted: 27 Sep 2020 07:08 AM PDT

Hey, guys! So I have an iPad Pro 12.9 2020 coming in on the 1st. I'm like 80% sure I'm going to get the K380 keyboard as I've had it before and liked it and they have the new "for Mac" edition of it, but I'm so torn between mice. As for keyboards, I've also considered the Keys To-Go.

I've been looking at the Microsoft Arc mouse (in Sage :>), but I've seen some very conflicting info about them. E.g., a few people saying it doesn't work well with iPadOS now even though it did before the update (plus people saying that ALL third-party mice are pretty crap now thanks to the update), some people saying it's nice and stylish but not good for long-term use, etc. but then some have said it's very ergonomic, too, so I'm wondering if it depends on the size of your hand maybe? I don't know.

I've also been considering some cheap Bluetooth mice from Amazon, the Logitech Pebble (seems really... uncomfortably flat, though), etc.

For reference: I have tennis elbow and carpal tunnel, plus an old shoulder injury that didn't heal well, and ALL in my drawing arm, and I'm a full-time illustrator. Portability matters but not as much as functionality and comfort for extended use.

I'm not someone with much expendable income, so I can't take the time to test out multiple mice or super expensive mice like the Logitech MX Ergo. :/

I dusted of my old iPad Pro 10.5 and...wow

    Posted: 26 Sep 2020 02:37 PM PDT

I purchased an iPad Pro 10.5 a few years ago however it never really got any use as I'm chained to my MacBook everyday for work.

A couple of weeks back I decided to digitise my note -taking so charged it up and began using it to complement my MacBook for work. It was then that I rediscovered how magical this device really is!

Instant notes with the Apple Pencil has completely streamlined and improved my workflow, especially now with iPadOS 14.

Photo editing is so simple yet quite powerful with Lightroom for iPad as well!

I was particularly thrilled when I was realised that this 3yo device has a 120hz pro motion display, it makes casual web browsing smooth as butter and all of the "will they, won't they" rumours for the upcoming iPhone 12 makes me feel lucky.

Anyway, just wanted to share my experience of how rediscovered how truly magical this device can be.

    Cheers

LiDAR on iPad (soon on iPhone)

    Posted: 27 Sep 2020 05:36 AM PDT

So I know the LiDAR scanner is used to create depth mapping points that, when combined with camera and motion sensor data, it can create a "more detailed understanding of a scene" but I'm just wondering.. why?

Why do you need that? I mean who would use it to do what except for using it to see ar stuff?

Which browser is the best for the iPad os?

I've been using safari mostly, wondering if there are better browsers performance wise, or is safari the best browser on the iPad?

My iPad Pro 2020 11” setup

    Posted: 27 Sep 2020 03:45 AM PDT

    https://imgur.com/a/9fW5Wb2

So. I recently got the new iPad Pro 2020 at a very big steal from eBay. I paid £560 for a nearly new device, will in warranty with some accessories. It is the 128GB model with WiFi+cellular (I didn't need the cellular, I use it as a WiFi only device)

Here are some of the accessories I bought along the way:

    1. Magic keyboard - has made this so much better than any other iPad, makes it more computer like and has made me use my MacBook as a secondary device. (Also inspired me to get my 2017 MacBook Pro upgraded, because I hate those damn butterfly keys)

    2. iblason case - slides straight onto the magic keyboard to give your iPad extra protection

    3. Apple Pencil 2 - because, of course (I bought this from the o2 store (a uk cellular network) they were doing a 20% off deal, worked out the same as purchasing used on eBay)

    4. Xtreme skins "Leather look" skin for magic keyboard

    5. Magic Mouse 2 - makes sitting at a desk better. I also have the Magic Mouse 1 but you can't use any scrolling gestures on the iPad with it and it doesn't work on any surface. Not to mention the fact that you have to put in aa batteries in it. The 2nd gen is much better.

    6. Generic pencil - I don't know where it's from the eBay seller threw it in for me

    7. Generic case - same as above

    8. Honourable mention: Adaptor - I got it for my MacBook but I can use it on the iPad.

Fast charge iPad Pro (12.9, 2020) and iPhone 11 Pro Max simultaneously?

    Posted: 26 Sep 2020 08:38 PM PDT

I tried asking Apple but the support person I got said they didn't sell anything that could and that they didn't know if it was possible.

I have two MiFi, USB-C cables and I'm wondering if it'd be possible using one adapter/power source to fast charge my iPad and iPhone at the same time (both fast charging). I know for iPhone it requires 18w but iPad I've read it was 30w. Would it be as simple as getting a 48w or above adapter?

Is it possible and if so what would I need?

I asked in the simple questions chat first and didn't see a response but I thought I'd try here then. Thanks!

IPad (air) + Logitech Combo Touch is a GAMECHANGER

    Posted: 26 Sep 2020 09:36 PM PDT

Just bout the combo touch, and it really is a game changer. For $150, cheaper options are out there. But I think this is completely worth it. Backlit keyboard, nice feeling keys, powered by the iPad itself via its smart connector, this thing has come with me almost everyday since I purchased it. Now I have a small "laptop" to bring around. 15" MBP can stay at home.

There is a known software bug that stops some keys from function until you restart the iPad. This was a HUGE issue, a dealbreaker. After some research I found that if you change the physical keyboard settings from 'Automatic" to 'Extended ABC' in the iPads settings, it fixes the bug. Now my space bar has no issues.

Anyways, if you have an iPad, I HIGHLY recommend getting this or another keyboard with a touchpad. Turns it into a laptop that only runs apps and has no USB inputs... which is still pretty great for everyday use.

Spotlight search inside the app without the keyboard

    Posted: 26 Sep 2020 10:32 PM PDT

I know for certain that the only way to do spotlight search inside of an app is cmd + spacebar. But I was scrolling down Youtube comments and my keyboard was disconnected (I use the magic keyboard). Suddenly, spotlight search appeared!

I couldn't believe it. I even double checked if I have the keyboard on. Might be a bug? Or is there some hidden way to do spotlight search inside an app without the keyboard?

Here's the screenshot i took after the incident https://imgur.com/gallery/qskpdzN

    iPad gestures

    Posted: 26 Sep 2020 10:36 PM PDT

Hi! I've got a new iPad mini! As far as I remember on my old iPad, there was an option to do a screenshot with three fingers with a swipe from top to bottom (it was like 6 years ago). But now this is not working. Is it still a thing? I also can't find gestures settings in the main settings. Any help, please?

How to set email account ports on the Mail app

    Posted: 27 Sep 2020 03:40 AM PDT

    Hello,

I have an imap email account that I want to add to the Mail app on the iPad. This is not a Gmail, Outlook etc account, so I choose "Other". I enter all info correctly, but I can't set up the account with the Mail app and I suspect the reason is that nowhere in the configuration screens I am asked to enter the ports for imap and smtp. Is there some other way to do it?
