    For some time Safari does not show all the videos of Youtube since it stays the screen in black and it does not work but from last week it no longer works in almost all the videos except for some exceptions.

    Is this also the case for some people? For the moment I'm going to wait to update Big Sur to see if it stops failing.

    Services and networking startup with FileVault enabled

    Quick question about how MacOS services work with FileVault enabled. As I understand it, with FileVault enabled, when you boot your Mac, a barebones (unencrypted) OS is booted to the login screen, and the normal OS drive remains completely encrypted until you log in there.

    Does this mean that all system services, networking, etc, can't start from a fresh boot until after that initial login happens, which then decrypts the drive and starts things up? When you are looking at that initial login screen, is there anything else to it behind the scenes? I am picturing it as just a pretty version of like the linux FDE luks prompt during boot, if you know what I mean, is that accurate?

    Automatically enable/disable Location Services

    Because of the way Location Services works, when I'm using any game streaming software (Shadow, GeForce Now, Steam, Moonlight, etc) every so often there's a massive network hiccup. As many of these programs will tell you, disabling location services is the solution. While this works, it can get tedious disabling and reenabling Location Services manually whenever I run/quit certain programs, and sometimes I completely forget to reenable Location Services.

    My question is, is there any way to have Location Services automatically disable when a given program is running, and then reenable itself when that program quits?

    Perhaps my Google-fu isn't up to snuff, but I haven't been able to find anything on this. Any help or suggestions?

    Catalina not playing audiobook chapters automatically ?

    I have just upgraded to Catalina, but now when I click play on an audiobook that is in chapters it doesn't automatically play then next chapter ? Is their a way to fix this ? I tend to drift off to sleep listening to them and it's pretty jarring when it suddenly stops.

    Catalina: Create new reminder in Notification Centre

    Hey all. On the iOS, if you've got the Reminders widget in Today View, it lets you create a new reminder from there. I've got the Reminders widget in my Notifications Centre on Mac but it only shows my outstanding reminders and doesn't let me create a new one - is there a way to enable that? Cheers

    Question about Screen Time (iOS) and Finder...

    My iPhone has Screen Time enabled in which I forgot the passcode, so I can focus when I'm working. I have a standard user account on a MacBook (not administrator). What's to stop me from putting the iPhone into DFU mode and restoring it in Finder on MacOS to remove the passcode lock? I ask because before Catalina, I solved this problem by blocking iTunes in Parental Controls. Now that sync/restore has moved to the Finder, I'm wondering if I should upgrade to Catalina or stay at Mojave. Doesn't appear like Apple has added any measures to prevent this, which means Screen Time for iOS is useless to anyone with a Mac.

    WiFi Problem Driving me CRAZY

    I've got a WiFi Problem on my 2018 Mac mini that is driving me nuts.

    I have Gigabit internet at my place (and I know I'm not going to get Gigabit speeds on WiFi), and I have a Mac mini that experiences a speed drop-off for an unexplained reason...

    When I boot up, I will get about 400Mbps internet both up and down over 5GHz WiFi. Router (AirPort Extreme) is in the same room about 15 feet from the Mac and my signal to noise ratio is good (40+). What I've noticed is that after a while (maybe a few hours; I never turn off my Mac) the download speed drops to about 150Mbps, while the upload speed stays the same. I cannot for the life of me figure out why. In activity monitor I don't see any programs hogging network, and I've even tried keeping every app closed to see if it still happens - and it does.

    If I turn off the Wifi for 30 seconds or so or do a restart, then it's right back at full speed. I've even tried deleting the system network config files - didn't help. I've also confirmed it isn't the whole network that's affected by running a speed test on other devices, and the other devices perform normally.

    Any ideas? The only reason this hasn't driven me totally insane is because even when it drops to 150Mbps, that's more than enough for 95% of what I'm doing.

    Dismissing appointments over iPhone

    Are calendar appointments and reminder supposed to be dismissed on MacBook when I dismiss them over iPhone? The same that happens between Apple Watch and iPhone. When I open my MacBook's lit I got all the reminders notifying me since last time I used Mac and I've already dismissed them on iPhone hours ago. The notification stays until I manually remove it. Any way to fix this?

    Thoughts on window management on macOS?

    Fellow enthusiasts, I made a switch to macOS from Windows as my primary operating system a few years ago and I have to admit the only thing I missed was better window management in Windows. Like the ability to have 4 windows side by side etc. I want to see if you guy also feel the same or you're perfectly happy with the way macOS handles them with full-screen desktops?

    Safari wont load anything buy google or facebook

    I just sold an old iMac running el captain and the friend I sold it is showing me clips that safari will only load google pages but none of the links past that load. Cleared website data, made sure extensions weren't running.

    Any ideas?

    Hi, I'm trying to upgrade my Mac to Sierra in order to run a new program. However, I have several older softwares that are only compatible with Sierra up to version 10.12.1. My problem is that I can't seem to find a way to upgrade that doesn't just bring me all the way up the latest version of Sierra (10.12.6) which will not be compatible with some of the programs that I currently use. I found some links to Apple in other threads but when I downloaded the installer it's at version 12.6.06 which I assume is basically just Mac OS 10.12.6.

    I am currently running Mac OS Yosemite 10.10.5. Thanks

    100GB+ System Storage on MBP 2017 (No Touchbar)

    I have over 100GB of system storage on my MBP 2017. Very annoying... not sure how that happened...

    Should I do a time machine backup of my Mac then do a factory reset or is that not how that works? I'm not a pro at this stuff so if this is a totally silly idea then please redirect me to something better.

    I get that error when running diskutil resizevolume /dev/disk0s3 R This is my diskutil list:

    How do I fix this? I have 1TB SSD and I want to resize my Mojave Partition to fill up the whole space. I have free space because i deleted a partition of another os.

    MacBook Pro makes error/alert sound whenever cmd key (⌘) is used with other keys

    My MacBook Pro (2013, Mojave) makes error sound (alert sound) when using cmd+c, cmd+w, cmd+m, cmd+n or cmd+r (but not for example cmd+v, cmd+t , cmd+q, and cmd+space).

    Anyone who knows why and if it can be fixed?
