My MacBook Pro keeps flickering while watching Netflix fullscreen

    Posted: 30 Jul 2020 02:20 PM PDT

I am running the latest software (Catalina) and the Mac is very new (2020) so I don't understand why it is doing it. I had this issue on my older MacBook Air and it flickered in fullscreen videos as well however this time, it only happens in Netflix. Does anyone have the same problem or maybe any suggestions? I tried restarting, it doesn't work.

How long before MacBooks and iMacs become touch screen?

    Posted: 30 Jul 2020 10:31 PM PDT

It's pretty clear the iPad and MacBook - even the iMac (based on recent reports) - are all converging. How long before we have a touchscreen MacBook and iMac (kinda like the Surface line)?

As time goes on, it's going to be really hard pushing non touchscreen devices...

Any help? Creating a shortcut: Play stereo audio as mono

    Posted: 30 Jul 2020 06:32 PM PDT

    Hey guys!

I work with music, and I'm constantly opening System Preferences > Accessibility > Audio > Play stereo audio as mono.

I'm looking forward to facilitate this process - either by creating an icon for the menu bar that would toggle it on/off, or by creating a keyboard shortcut.

Do you have any idea of how it would be accomplished, are where should I ask for this specific knowledge ? Thank you very much!

Why does my monitor look over-sharpened when hooking my MacBook up to it

    Posted: 30 Jul 2020 03:15 PM PDT

I also have a Mac mini, Mac Pro. Both run fine on the monitor without any issues. But whenever I hook up my MacBook Pro to it, the whole monitor looks low res but mostly over sharpened? Lines look blocky, texts looks awful etc. I have checked resolution. I have tried both HDMI via one plug and secondly even DP via another different plug, so its definitely something going on with my MacBook, as again, my Mac Pro and Mac mini drive the monitor without any issues.

2017 13 inch Retina MacBook Pro, issue occurs both via HDMI and DP, no issues with other Macs. Running latest firmware.

How do you find an epub.mdimporter which works with more than the Roman alphabet?

    Posted: 30 Jul 2020 08:02 PM PDT

I've tried 4 different versions, and all of them fail in files which use the Cyrillic alphabet. The version included in Scarlett works in files which only use the Roman alphabet, and the version by molcik likewise. Some others fail due to changes in MacOS.

Failing that, I'm not sure how to edit one to cope with other alphabets.

Is there a way to limit the maximum audio output without lowering the volume?

    Posted: 30 Jul 2020 07:34 PM PDT

Similarly to a microphone compressor filter, but for the sound output? My friend teaches music to kids through video calls their yelling has caused her ear damage. Her volume isn't set too high, it is set at a volume just high enough to hear the kids when they speak normally. However, they will sometimes yell unexpectedly.

Is there a way to limit the maximum volume when they yell without lowering the overall volume, either through settings or with a third-party app?

How do I get my external mic working on MacBook pro?

    Posted: 30 Jul 2020 05:53 PM PDT

I have a Samson GO mic. Brand new and my MacBook detects it, it is on, however it's not picking up any sound. The input bars in system preferences won't move no matter where I adjust the slider. Any help would be appreciated!

What's up with MacOS and system crashes caused by external monitors?

    Posted: 30 Jul 2020 10:39 AM PDT

Quick back story, my Mac crashes all the time when it tries to sleep while connected to an external monitor. Additionally, while searching for a new monitor I see this same comment all the time "don't buy 'x' monitor because it's causing my mac to crash!" Also, there are posts over all kinds of support boards about people having this same problem. Different connection types, different monitors, different brands.

So.... what's up with MacOS and external monitors? Why does using one lead to system crashes so frequently?

    Full Disk Access on Mojave

    Posted: 30 Jul 2020 02:08 PM PDT

Hey all. I posted this on the Apple support community as well but no one seems to use that anymore.

I just reinstalled Mojave on my Mac Mini. I'm trying to give Chronosync Full disk access, but it won't add to the list. Current, NO applications will add to the list, so I am 98% positive it's an issue with Mac OSX instead of with the application itself. I've also tried adding any apps to the accessibility list as well, with no success. It's a real head scratcher.

Has anyone run into this problem or am I special?

Notion caused kernel task problem in my MacBook Pro late 2012

    Posted: 30 Jul 2020 01:28 PM PDT

TL;DR Notion wrecked my MacBook with the kernel task problem. Uninstalling it fixed the issue! :)

So I had the kernel task problem a while back. I had updated from High Sierra to Mojave. Used it comfortably for 15+ days until I got the kernel task error. My whole system slowed down. Every button click, every mouse movement a nightmare.

I had installed Microsoft office, Adobe software and dundundun... Notion.

Now two days of using Notion for note taking, I was fine. On the third day, my fans started going crazy on bootup. And the kernel task problem ensued.

I did an uninstall of all the software and it went back to normal. So now came in the testing of what software caused the issue.

I updated to Catalina in the meantime and never got the error. So I concluded at that time that software update fixed it. But nope! A few days later I installed Notion AGAIN (wanted to improve my productivity so bad lol). At this time I installed all Microsoft and Adobe software first, and Notion after a few days. Right after installation and next bootup the problem started.

Jump to quickly uninstalling Notion and the remaining files in all the /Library/ folders, voila! No more kernel task issues!!!!

Everybody who's facing this problem, try deleting software one by one to see where the issue lies. Maybe this post will fix your problem? I don't know why Notion would cause such a problem but that was what it was for me.

Free download managers for people with shitty internet?

    Posted: 30 Jul 2020 03:33 AM PDT

My biggest gripe with safari (and most download functionality out there) is that they basically stop and the whole file gets corrupted if the network is disrupted. A 3GB download for me is already 24+ hours.

    • Download managers that can be paused and resumed anytime
    • Will never reset the download back to 0% if it got disrupted.

I already use drive file stream and it work wonders for me but it's only applicable on google drive files.

Anyone know how to fix Safari crashing on open in MacOS Beta Version 20A5323l ?

    Posted: 30 Jul 2020 10:49 AM PDT

I updated my MacBook Air from Catalina to Bug Sur today and for some reason I cannot get Safari to open. When I try to open it, it immediately crashes. So I searched on my phone what might be the issue and found some things on the Apple Developer Forum about possible fixes some of these involved deleted extra packages that might've not been removed in the update, opening Safari through a link in Notes and changing stuff in your preferences, to downloading the recent Beta for Xcode. All of these I did but with no permanent fix.

I was able to open Safari through a link using Notes. However when I try to go into the preferences section (through mouse or shortcut) it crashes, same result happens when I try to open a tab or change the website.

I have submitted a ticket to the Apple Feedback but I am just wondering if anyone else has had a similar issue and what they did to fix it (or if you're still waiting for a fix). Anything is helpful
