| Posted: 19 Jul 2020 11:49 PM PDT Hello. We recently found my mom's old iPhone 5 and was surprised to see it working after we plugged it in. She plans on using it again as a spare phone, however she has forgotten the passcode. She still knows her old Apple ID and password because she wrote in on a paper, but we don't know how to open the phone without the passcode because none of us uses Apple devices in the house. I read online that it can be reset through iCloud, but when I opened her iCloud, she does not have Find my iPhone set up. We don't know how to reset it through iTunes either (because no one uses Apple in the family). Any ideas will be appreciated. Thanks. [link] [comments]  |

| Posted: 19 Jul 2020 07:56 PM PDT a while ago my face id module had stopped working and i had narrowed it down to the dot projector not working, but today I checked again on a camera to see if anything was working and instead of showing nothing, the dot projector was emitting a static purple light. I know that usually it should just be blinking but does that mean there still might be hope because $800 for a camera module fix from apple is to much [link] [comments]  |

Posted: 19 Jul 2020 03:16 PM PDT I'm trying to factory reset my sons iPhone 6S but every time I put it into recovery mode on my MacBook it keeps giving me a "iPhone cannot be restored, error 10" message. I don't know if the MacBook I have it connected to is the one it was originally synced to, the phone hasn't been used in so long. But I don't know what to do to get around that error . The phone was working fine after that until it died. I tried plugging it in to charge it but it just says it's charging and won't turn on. | iPhone XS Max ringer volume constantly changing Posted: 19 Jul 2020 08:27 AM PDT I got the phone in March and I used to have the ringer volume set to about 3/4 of the way up. Well for the past 4 months or so I have lowered it to about 1/4, but it constantly is changing back to the value I was first using. This is such a frustrating problem to have with a "premium" piece of technology. I have tried with the volume set to change with volume up and down, and with it turned off. I recently turned the focus gesture thing off because I saw forums saying to do that. Is there a fix for this, will there ever be? [link] [comments]  |

So i was just on talking to my friends on discord, not really doing much, until my volume on my phone started going up when i wasn't really touching my phone. All i was doing was touching is my screen. I ignored it until it happened again. I touched my volume buttons and they were fine. My volume went down and up again until i picked up my phone to see what was happening. It stopped and i ignored it. Then for some reason my siri turned on and i canceled out. I didn't say anything by the way. Then my siri turned on a couple more times and I cancelled out every time. My siri turned on one more time and i think someone was commanding her to call my dad, cause the little text at the bottom said "call dad" i freaked out a bit and quickly changed my dad's name in my contacts. I didn't really click any fishy links or download any shady apps. I was in a house with other iOS users so I don't know if that had anything to do with it. | Iphone XS Max Face ID not working Posted: 19 Jul 2020 04:07 PM PDT Hi, I have an IPhone XS Max running 13.5. My face id is no longer working and I don't know why. The only possible cause for this was that I dropped my phone in a hot tub for maybe under 3 seconds the same day it stopped working. Immediately after I dropped it, however, the face id still worked. I tried to delete my face and set up a new one but the phone just keeps telling me to put my face into the frame and move the device higher and lower. It can also tell when my face is not in the camera. I, unfortunately, do not have the limited warranty. I tried contacting apple chat support and they ran a diagnostic test and told me that both the front camera and true depth cameras came back fine and reported no problems. I asked her what the issue was and she essentially said "I don't know but just buy a new phone." I tried checking the LCI inside my phone, but I can't see pink or white inside the sim card slot. I bought the phone off amazon from this seller. I am unfortunately out of the seller's 90-day warranty. Is there anything I can do? I have a genius bar appointment scheduled for 7/26. I read about switch control but honestly it was not very intuitive and I failed. On top of that I am learning french and I switched my iphone os to that language so I don't understand it fully (yep…). Cutting to the point – I guess I turn on switch control on iphone X to "touch the screen" and the screen is constantly in scanning the blue border mode. When I touch the screen the menu appears but I can't control anything beside it. Then I figured out that "hey, maybe turning it off helps" and I get to the point where I turned it off by my computer. But it's still there, I have to provide the passcode to get through so I can't even talk to Siri because face ID is not working so it's blocked. I have everything turned on, I signed in and out of my icloud, and when ever I try to share my location it says "shares my location disabled" and gives me Instructions to turn it on, which it already is. That was a great feature I could use to adjust to many different kinds of black and white photos. Am I missing something? Does anyone know a good black and white app I could use to replace it? Edit: to be clear I am not talking about the little filters like "vivid" "dramatic cool" and what not. I mean in the settings where I can adjust the brightness and color, there was a final selection of black and white that we had. Now it's gone? | iPhone 8 Water Damage Causing Lock Button to Auto Activate Every Second Posted: 19 Jul 2020 10:04 AM PDT I have an iPhone 8 that was in the bottom of a 2-metre pool for around 20-30 minutes. The lock button keeps on activating over and over without me touching it to the point where my phone isn't even unlockable. Here's all the info i can give you. iPhone 8 on latest iOS Purchase Date around 1.5 - 2 years ago in Canada iPhone keeps on activating the lock button even though I am not pressing it. It happens about every second. This was caused from being 2 metres underwater for 20-30 minutes. The battery on my iPhone drains quick from the lock screen constantly being on thanks to the lock button issue. Everything else about the iPhone is functional for now from what I can tell with the limited access I have to my phone. I have tried putting the iPhone in rice and letting it dry in open air. I haven't yet opened up my iPhone and I haven't sent it to apple. This water damage is very recent and it occurred one day before this post. Please send suggestions on how to fix. | Help: Installing IPA Files (without Jailbreak) Posted: 19 Jul 2020 09:34 AM PDT Greetings! I never used iOS and I now I have project which I need to install some IPA files/apps to the phone so I can test these apps. I tried using Appcake but the app isn't downloading correctly and can't even download the profile associated with it (doesn't appear on settings). I also tried iMazing but during the instalation process it gives an error and one of the files doesn't even start to install. I'm kinda lost here to know the best solution to this issue. I'm using an IPhone SE (2016) with iOS 13.1.2 and I really can't Jailbreak the phone. Can somebody help me? Or give me the best alternatives to install IPA files on the iPhone? [link] [comments]  |

| Posted: 19 Jul 2020 12:52 AM PDT I've had my Pro Max since launch and recently I got a little scratch (maybe a centimeter long) near the bottom on the left half, It's not noticeable when I'm using the phone in the dark or most of the time at home but in some lightings it's pretty easy to see and just generally really annoying, anyone know how I can get rid of it or at least make it less noticeable? For some reason she can text and call me, but whenever I text her back it doesn't go through (her messages come through as iMessages but mine say they go out as text messages). All we can think of is that her dad did something to her phone? Like when she calls me I can answer and it's fine, I just can't call her first (it goes straight to voicemail) or text her. Any advice? | Help with Iphone 11 video call audio problem Posted: 19 Jul 2020 06:25 AM PDT So recently I discovered that while talking on the phone/FB messenger call/facetime etc. with my friend, when we talked or made noise at the same time, his audio would cut out for a couple seconds for me (I literally see his mouth move, but don't hear anything). I'm using an iphones 6s and he has a 11 pro. Its extremely annoying, since my earphones are very sensitive, so any sound i make will automatically mute his sound for me. Everything is normal for him though. We found out that it happens when he uses the speakerphone. When we both used our earphones, the problem went away, so it's definitely his speakers and mic interfering themselves (right?). | help/orangey-yellow discoloration on screen Posted: 19 Jul 2020 01:34 AM PDT help! hello! im not really sure if this is the right place to ask, but i really need help! today a orangey-yellow color appeared on my iphone xr. its in lines on the very top, sides and a spot just appeared on the bottom right corner. (its getting worse, in each yellow streak it gets orange then in the worst spot, blue) i've tried looking everywhere, i can't find anyone else having this problem. i don't know what's causing it or why, the only idea i have is that my phone case (which has a oil type glitter in it) starting leaking. i doubt thats the cause though. the closest i could find to this problem is the mac book yellow-orange discoloration, the color is exactly the same. i don't know what to do, i can't afford a new phone and i don't know if this will cause its doom. if you have any information or an idea as to how i can fix this, that would be greatly appreciated.
