By far best “hidden” iPhone Setting

    Posted: 04 Jul 2020 06:48 AM PDT

    OPEN NEW TABS IN BACKGROUND

I used to get annoyed with having to tap back to original tab whenever I wanted to open a link in a new tab while browsing web on Safari. Using Haptic / 3D Touch on any link opens up a list of options - including "open in new tab" - but default settings will force you to immediately go to this newly opened tab once selected.

More often then not, if I'm opening the link in a new tab I wanted to stay on current page and go to the link later. If I wanted to go immediatley and not "leave" current web page, I'd just click the link... not 3D touch it and open in new tab.

I randomly found the option to change this setting to make it open the new tab links in background after get fed up with the hassle, and it has been an absolute game changer.

    To make Settings change:

Settings - Safari - Tabs - Open Links - In Background

The only other option in Open links is - "New Tab" which is the standard setting that opens new tabs immediately after using 3D Touch on a link.

I've found this to be by far the most useful settings change I've ever found on phone, and it has honestly been a MASSIVE improvement to browsing on mobile.

There is one type of "browsing" in particular that benefits from this setting... sometimes gotta open a ton of links to find the RIGHT one, and being able to open each link in a new tab in the background instead of right away saves a few taps / seconds for each link opened.

For anyone else who likes to open a bunch of links in new tabs at a time, the quality of use improvement by making this change is top notch.

This is obviously pretty simple, so I'm sure a lot of people who care might already know about this. That being said, some may be putting up with it in frustration without realizing there is an option to change how it works (like I did for way too long).

    Highly Recommend trying it out!

    Backup Size

I have a 256gb iPhone. I used about 220gb. When I look at my recent icloud backup it only takes up 14gb.

WHAT'S NEW UPDATES AND FEATURES IN APPLE IOS 14?

    Posted: 04 Jul 2020 07:18 AM PDT

(Or within 1 year of receipt of a Renewed Premium iPhone) and we will offer you a full refund or a replacement.

    Posted: 03 Jul 2020 12:03 PM PDT

Has anyone had experience with this "premium iphone" guarantee within the Amazon Renewed Guarantee? I'm so confused since they added this to single out just iphones amongst the thousands of renewed products amazon sells to have an extended 12 month return policy.

Does anyone have experience with having an issue after 90 days where their iphone was premium so they could still return it?

PS: Amazon told me a "premium" iphone is one whose value is over $1000 and unlocked.

Question about FMI and iCloud locks

    Posted: 03 Jul 2020 11:45 AM PDT

I understand Apple has removed their online FMI checking tool, however there are a number of sites out there that offer these checks for free via the IMEI number. My question is, how do these sites have access to this information? What do they "have" that I don't?

Adding a contact in Whatsapp, not adding in iPhone's Contact book

Adding a contact in Whatsapp, not adding in iPhone's Contact book

    Hello,

I'm posting this here at the Whatsapp reddit group seems dead...

I noticed several months ago than when adding a contact via Whatsapp the contact fields are not the same as in the iPhone/iCloud address book.I realized that when we are select "Add to Contacts" in Whatsapp, it's actually not adding to contacts. Its seems to be adding the contact in an internal Whatsapp address book as I can not find the contact added anywhere in the iPhone/iCloud address book.

Any ideas what is going on?

    Can you turn 5g off?

    Posted: 03 Jul 2020 02:52 PM PDT

My wife had an iPhone X and I have a Samsung. For whatever reason, her phone had been getting worse connections so her internet won't work sometimes when I'm still getting service. Her phone sometimes has the 5g icon pop up and I was wondering if that might be the reason. Maybe it's sometimes trying to use 5g instead of the available 4g. Anyone have any ideas on what might cause this or how to disable 5g? Thanks

    iPhone 11 international version

    Posted: 03 Jul 2020 05:15 AM PDT

    Hey guys,

I bought iPhone 11 international version online in UAE. It has dual sim but both physical. Could it be that I got China /HK version? What's the difference between them and international version? Maybe the seller sent wrong phone. Is there anything not available in my version?

I have to use primarily in UAE and India.

(I can't buy UAE version because it doesn't have FaceTime. )

How does Autofill with third party password managers work, in terms of privacy?

    Posted: 03 Jul 2020 09:42 AM PDT

When I use a certain password manager in a Firefox browser on PC, I get a message saying they need to know what sites I visit for the extension to work,

How does this work on iPhone? if I enable Autofill for a password manager, will they be able to see every app I use/website I go to? (Through Settings - Passwords & Accounts - Autofill Passwords)

If yes, why don't they warn you? if no, how does this work?

    Thanks

Is having longer software support really that big of a plus on iPhones?

    Posted: 02 Jul 2020 06:21 PM PDT

I've always heard that iPhones are known for their long support and updates which people say is good for longevity but doesn't that slow down the phone or drain the battery over time?

As an Android user, I've never really had to face this issue because most Android phones aren't supported for that long anyway.

I'm one of those people who keep their phone for like 5+ years so if I do plan to switch at some point I'll need to make sure this isn't an issue.

App to send Notifications to another device?

    Posted: 02 Jul 2020 06:27 PM PDT

I want an app that lets me send a Push Notification to my kid's two iOS devices (an iPhone and an iPad), so it pops up on her screen, blocking everything else, and she must do something to dismiss it.
