Stop iPad From Pausing When I Take My Buds Out of My Ear

    Posted: 07 Jul 2020 02:36 PM PDT

Every time I take my buds out of my ear it causes my iPad to pause whatever is playing. How do I stop this from happening?

I searched but to no avail. I just want a USB-C headset with a good mic that works with the Pro. External mics that sit on the table? No thanks. External headset that actually pics up clear mic input? Yes, please!

    Posted: 07 Jul 2020 09:56 AM PDT

I'm a noob to this thread but I did do searching on Reddit and Google before asking this, within reason, and have yet to find a solution. I've tried a bunch of things to have a headset mic work on the iPad Pro of any quality:

    - I tried two Bluetooth headsets. Mic quality wasn't on par with what I needed.

    - I tried using my USB-A Logitech headset with the USB-C port (Tiwanc brand). Audio came into my ears, but the iPad was still using internal mic. The USB-A headset works great on my Mac and PC with very crisp audio input from the mic, but no luck with iPad.

Basically, I know that external mics can work on the iPad Pro, but these are ones that sit on desks. When I use the Apple Pencil, it creates a tapping noise when using the internal mic, and I don't trust a tabletop external mic to be much better. I want a mic sitting on my head, away from where I'm writing (and less likely to pick up background noise in my home). I need a headset with a good mic that also simply plugs into the USB-C port on the iPad. Or at least a proven-effective USB-C port that actually accepts USB-A headsets.

The closest thing to a decent response I found on Reddit was this:

    https://www.reddit.com/r/iPadPro/comments/agju1y/usba_headset_mic_on_ipad_pro_2018/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=web2x

That ^ doesn't meet my needs, and I think my needs are simple.

    1) Does anyone know a direct USB-C headset that I can plug into the iPad that actually pics up the headset mic? or,

    2) Does anyone know of a USB-C port that have USB-A input (that part is easy) but will take audio input from the headset? (that last part is the issue). No 3.5 mm stuff.

    Thanks!

Anyone know the difference between Logitech MX Master 3 for Mac vs. MX Master 3? They seem identical except for the color.

Question RE: Citrix Workspace on iPad

    Posted: 07 Jul 2020 01:36 PM PDT

    Hi,

I have been using Citrix Workspace for some time and I just got an iPad. It's really a pretty good implementation, despite some interesting challenges around mouse cursor and text selection.

However, we have multiple desktops published at the same link. So, I can see a list of desktops to connect to from our storefront. In Windows or any other OS, I can have multiple desktops running, but in Citrix Workspace on iPad, there doesn't seem to be a way to switch between them. You must click HOME and then connect to one, and then to get back to the previous one, click HOME and then connect to the other.

This is really a pain in the ass. Am I just missing some other workflow here to allow having more than one desktop open in Citrix Workspace for iPad at a time?

My iPad Air 3 with Smart Keyboard has become my main computer. Anyone else all iPad?

    Posted: 07 Jul 2020 08:33 AM PDT

Even though I have a 2019 MacBook Air, I find that I'm still using my iPad Air 3 as my main computer. Fast start up, totally portable, secure, and great apps!

Other than my iPhone 11, I'm finding that I do most of my computing with my iPad Air. Anyone else all in on iPadOS?

So my brydge keyboard stopped working so they told me to “permanently disable” it by “bending it or something similar”. Most fun I’ve had in months

Is there an option to quickly open a link in incognito tab on the iPad?

    Posted: 07 Jul 2020 06:20 AM PDT

I have a MK with the iPad, and I would like to open some links into incognito mode on the iPad. I do not own a Mac but I've read that on the mac it is possible to hold option + right click to get the incognito mode. This doesn't seem to work with the iPad. Does anyone have a solution for this, instead of two-finger click, open new tab, paste and visit?

    Thanks!

    Paper feeling Screen Protector

    Posted: 07 Jul 2020 03:03 PM PDT

Hey guys! I'm searching for a Screen Protector for my iPad Pro 12,9" (with Homebutton) and of course the first one on google was „paperlike". 90% of postings here are negative. Some people recommended „Elecom" but on amazon they're not rated that good.. I have no clue what to order. Has anyone experience in this topic and would help me?

FYI: I'm going to college and using the iPad in class for taking notes.

    Thanks for your time.

Could use some help with a change in use case

    Posted: 07 Jul 2020 11:06 AM PDT

I know this has come up a lot here, but I'm looking for one suggestions for my workflow if anyone has any thoughts. I use my ipad primarily for work and class between taking notes and reading/annotating PDFs.

Generally I use the following apps:

    • Notability: Note taking app of choice. The recording feature is very helpful in classroom settings, though that's less used now with the online format. That will resume though once things are safer. Also used for work-related meeting notes.

    • PDF Expert: PDF reader and annotating.

    • Flexcil: Good for taking notes on PDFs for class. Lets me superimpose a notepad and more easily take notes and paste excerpts from the PDF into.

    • Mindnode: Mindmapping app. Helps to outline papers and presentations.

    • Anki: Flashcard app. Syncs well across devices and really helps with learning.

    • Pages/Google Docs: Used for writing papers, but still haven't decided which to use more so still bouncing between the two. Pages works better on ipad, but google docs allows working on windows and web which is very helpful when collaborating.

    • Excel: Spreadsheets are probably the main issue I run into with ipad use since a lot of advanced features simply aren't available. Numbers and google sheets lack them entirely, and excel limits them to desktop only (some functions and features just aren't available on the ipad or web versions).

With both work and class staying on an online format due to covid-19, I'm living a bit on the go and won't have access to a computer since I used the library ones for papers and projects at school. Now though I'll have to work entirely from my ipad, and am wondering if there are any suggestions people here might have regarding the above workflow and maybe some apps or accessories that might help me out? Currently I have an apple pencil, a bluetooth keyboard, and a portable hard drive to store larger files.

Is it possible for an iPhone call to be picked up on an iPad without being under the same AppleID or ICloud account?

    Posted: 07 Jul 2020 09:57 AM PDT

I know someone who had calls coming in in his iPhone and they were appearing in his iPad as well. He said he had a completely different appleId and icloud account on his iPad than on his phone. Would this be able to happen through a common WiFi connection only? Using the WiFi calling. I'm trying to figure out how it's happening

Is this an Apple Pencil issue? My pen stroke is so thin now. I've been using Goodnotes for months without changing my pen settings (pen thickness is definitely the same 0.3mm) and this is the first time I've encountered something like this. I've already restarted my device and reconnected my Pencil.

How has LIDAR benefited the iPad Pro as of July 2020?

One of the longest rumors for the upcoming iPhone is that it'll feature LIDAR like the iPad Pro. I have heard that LIDAR is helpful for AR, but what else have developers been able to do with is as of now?

    Web Browser frustration on iOS.

    Posted: 07 Jul 2020 06:14 AM PDT

Safari is good. No doubt . But why does apple have to be such a d. k by not giving us option to choose a browser with blink engine support.

Today I tried playing password protected webm video file in Safari. Not playing.

My 300 usd android phone plays it like anything.

If there's any solution to this, please suggest.

Instant Markup Mac to iPad Pro w/ Pencil

    Posted: 06 Jul 2020 03:02 PM PDT

I work in Tech, and frequently take screenshots (cmd shft 4 -> Send to clipboard). I'd love the ability to mark them up instantly after taking them (in my iPad Pro using my pencil). Is this possible?
