| Keep Track of Show Progress on Multiple Devices Posted: 28 Jul 2020 10:33 PM PDT Since YouTubeTV is raising their prices, and I only really watch NBC, CBS, ABC and streaming services for shows, I was going to just use my AppleTV with CBS All Access, ABC Live TV and PeacockTV. My biggest thing, when COVID is not going on and there are actually new episodes, is knowing when a new episode comes out and is ready to watch. I can't find on AppleTV App a spot I can mark "My Shows" or something like that. What is the easiest way to setup a way to track show progress on AppleTV App so I can find what my next episode is to watch? [link] [comments]  |
| AppleTV 4K Won’t Open Factory Apps Posted: 28 Jul 2020 07:09 PM PDT Title sums up the issue I'm having. For a few weeks now I have not been able to open any of the factory applications on my AppleTV 4K. Because this seems to be a software issue, I figured I'd go into my settings app and do a factory reset. Upon deciding to do that, I realized that the settings app will not open either so I am unable to do any reset. I've unplugged it and plugged it back in, held down the Menu+TV button to reset, and spoken with Apple Customer Service about the issue. Because it is the 4K, there is no port for the AppleTV to be hooked up to a computer for a reset. Apple's recommendation was to send the AppleTV in for repair but that would cost almost as much as buying a new one. Has anyone else had this issue or has any information on how to fix this problem? | Audio difference between 4K in Apple TV and Vudu Posted: 28 Jul 2020 06:35 PM PDT I have noticed this is a few movies (Fury Road and the Dark Knight), I have them both in 4K and when I watch them on the Apple TV app the audio is good but not great. However, when I watch it on Vudu, same movie quality through MA, the sound is OUTSTANDING. I have a soundbar with surround sound speakers. When I watched The Matrix in 4K on Apple TV app the sound was outstanding. Any reason why a few titles sound so much better on Vudu and not Apple TV app? [link] [comments]  |
| Looking for media player apps that wouldn’t require a server... Posted: 28 Jul 2020 10:50 PM PDT Hello! So I was recently using the VLC app to watch some MKVs. It works great bc, through the remote playback feature, you can just upload the video files to the apple tv and save them there instead of having to stream them from a server/laptop. I can watch my stuff without having to make sure my laptop is awake and running. However, the app doesn't let you turn off the scrubber by tapping (you have to wait a while for it to go away by itself) which is a hassle because it completely blocks subtitles from view. I was wondering, do you guys know if there are any other media player apps that have a feature similar to VLC's remote playback one? Thank you!! [link] [comments]  |

I finally figured out how to turn my TV on when I power on the Apple TV but now my sound bar sometimes starts and if it doesn't turn on my TV audio turns on. What is the best configuration to hook up my Apple TV. Current Setup: Apple TV —> Sound Bar —> ARC HDMI on TV Should I do? Apple TV ->HMDI Port 2 on TV -> ARC HMDI -> Sound bar? I'm testing two of them right now, Globoplay (focused on TV shows) and Telecine (focused on movies), but I notice a very inconsistent image quality throughout the catalog. The most weird thing is that some movies seems to have built-in SOE and others don't. So I activated the 'Display HUD' from the Developer menu to check things out, and to my surprise everything runs at 30fps instead of the usual 24fps. Both have their pros and cons, but one critical feature that Apple TV lacks is audio passthrough, for DTS X and Dolby Atmos, content. Is it fair to assume that it won't be fixed even in a new Hardware refresh? Will it be wise to hold out for the new Apple TV to see if they introduce this feature? | Posted: 28 Jul 2020 03:51 PM PDT I'm struggling with a kind of flickering on my Apple TV 4K that seems to be related to darker scenes in SDR content (and the issue also appears in the system menu). I've done some captures of the ATV4K output (bypassing anything TV related since we all know TVs have lots of processing that muddy things up) that especially show the flickering when a video is paused, through any app: 0:00 In 1080p SDR in the system UI, right under "Apple TV" you can see a flicker 0:13 Paused on a frame, the flickering is super obvious here 0:45 In 4K SDR, the encoded video hides some artifacts, but the flicker is most visible where the hair rests on the shoulder on the right side of the frame. 1:20 In 4K HDR, I cannot distinguish any flicker artifacts. https://www.dropbox.com/s/hzpjwv3wpo82x7o/apple%20tv%20demo%20infuse%201080p%20sdr.mp4?dl=0 0:11 In 108p SDR, in the Infuse app this time, you can see the flicker in the window in the background. When I use the ATV remote to turn off the ATV it turns the TV off completely instead of switching to standby (art mode). This doesn't happen with the Samsung remote. Any suggestions to fix? All my video setting are correct (4K SDR YCbCr 4:2:0 Match Content On) Dolby Vision works like magic on Netflix HDR has no prob like Deadpool on ITunes, The Expanse on Prime switched beautifully. Best video quality set on my Netflix account. HDMI set perfect. My speeds are fire over 300. Pay for the big time. So my ONLY issue is Netflix Ultra HD not working. | Posted: 28 Jul 2020 11:49 AM PDT A very frustrating two weeks with the Siri remote on my 4 gen Apple TV. The remote can turn on the tv and Apple TV, put it to sleep, and do a reset, but that's it. If I try to pair it it is successful but then drops out. Any thoughts? I've cleared all the paired devices, turned off air play/home play whatever. I don't have a usb c cable but would hooking the unit up to the router somehow help me do a full reset? My tv is older so the remote app doesn't do my volume. I could just buy a new remote but am wondering if this one has any chance to work again. [link] [comments]  |

The autologin detects that my home WiFi is not subscribed to HBO go. I pay for HBO through a cable subscription at a different location. is there anyway to make the Apple TV 4k activate through the website like before, or did HBO just made it so that you have to pay for HBO for every location you want to watch it in? What makes it odder is that I can get the stream on my iPhone, and then mirror to the AppleTV, and the stream worked yesterday on my RokuTV. I have Verizon WiFi and use a family members spectrum login. It seems to be isolated to Apple TV only and was wondering if anyone else had the same issue. [link] [comments]  |

I was expecting it to connect using AAC, but it looks like the light is flashing blue which means the SBC codec is used and not cyan as I was expecting. It flashes in cyan when connected to my iPhone though. Is this normal, does the ATV4k really not support the AAC codec? [link] [comments]  |
