case sensitive bug after upgrading to 10.15.5 Posted: 08 Jun 2020 11:20 PM PDT Hi together, i'm using a MBP 16". After updating my MacOS Version to 10.15.5 it seems, that my macbook started to be case-insensitive. Means i can't have two folders like this foobar fooBar. Also version control git is not recognising filename changes like this. Is someone facing the same issue here, or is it just me? [link] [comments]

Looking for a safari extension that blocks pop ups Posted: 08 Jun 2020 06:43 PM PDT I already got 2 adblocks running but the xxx popup keeps popping up. Sorry if this isn't the right forum (am on a MacBook) [link] [comments]
Downgrading to an older macOS than the MacBook was shipped with Posted: 09 Jun 2020 02:21 AM PDT Is it possible to downgrade let's say 2020 MacBook Pro to macOS Mojave? I still have quite a few 32bit apps that I need to run but having a new hardware would be nice. [link] [comments]
Posted: 08 Jun 2020 09:29 PM PDT I'm following this guide here https://medium.com/fbdevclagos/using-zsh-aliases-for-better-terminal-experience-6f16f261ad52 but every time I type in the alias in terminal is says 'permission denied' followed by path given. I've given terminal full access to disk. Any help would be appreciated. [link] [comments]
What's a good macOS app that lets me see more detailed battery information for my iPad Pro? Posted: 08 Jun 2020 01:23 PM PDT My iPad Pro's battery drains like it's nothing, and I've only had the device for a relatively short period of time. I've contacted Apple's support and their own diagnostic showed nothing wrong. I have notifications turned off for most apps, not much runs/updates in the background, and I have a normal charging routine (charging it when it hits anywhere from 30-40%). [link] [comments]
Current update ruined 16 inch MacBook Pro Posted: 08 Jun 2020 08:27 AM PDT I recently just updated my laptop to the latest update and now it takes about 30 seconds for my computer to wake up when I open it. Also, it uses battery like crazy. I used it in the morning before I went to work, closed my laptop and it had about 80% battery. When I got home it was completely dead to the point where the track pad wouldn't even click. Anyone else having these issues? [link] [comments]
Posted: 08 Jun 2020 05:00 PM PDT I'm looking for a new note-taking app, and would love to get some thoughts on what might be the right fit for me, if you all don't mind sharing. I have a few priorities... I searched previous threads on note-taking apps but didn't really see mention of this first one. Most important: I need to be able record audio that syncs with notes' text. As in, click anywhere within the text and play the audio that was recording as I typed that portion. (Imagine a scenario where I'm sitting in a long lecture, recording it and marking spots in the text I'd like to come back to and listen again later.) I think Notability and maybe Evernote are able to do this? Are there other apps that can do this? I also need folders. I'd like a way to use this as a virtual filing cabinet, where I could create like a "health" folder for medical records, a "finances" folder for banking stuff, etc. So being able to drop photos and PDFs in would be nice. And I need something with Mac OS and iOS versions, so I can access all these features on both my MacBook and my iPhone. Last but not least, I'd like something where it's easy to export your entire library to some universal .txt-type format, just in case I get really integrated into this app and one day eight or 12 or whatever years in the future, its developer disappears. Handwriting is not a relevant feature for me and won't be in the future. I appreciate any thoughts or suggestions! [link] [comments]

Posted: 08 Jun 2020 06:36 PM PDT I was looking through my MacOS laptop and I found a file in the screen savers folder called "Word of the Day.qtz" Where did it come from? It's not letting me delete it. I never noticed it before. Is there a way to delete files like this? Thanks. [link] [comments]
Merge multiple Photo Libraries Posted: 08 Jun 2020 06:09 PM PDT I'm looking for advice on how best to merge multiple photo libraries that exist under different user profiles. I have some smaller libraries on different user profiles (other than my primary profile) that I would like to merge into the main "system library". We use iCloud photos and that contains everything in the system library. I'm concerned that if I sync the iCloud library on other user profiles, it will take up hard drive space. Posted: 08 Jun 2020 09:03 PM PDT Is it just me? Perhaps? I'm not sure... I have recently discovered that deleting a draft message intended to be sent from an icloud.com address is not moved to icloud's recently deleted folder, instead it seems just to disappear. I mean really, If I accidentally click 'delete draft' when prompted I would expect this deleted message to appear in the bin. [link] [comments]
Skim PDF Reader Does Not Render PDFs Anymore Posted: 08 Jun 2020 05:16 PM PDT I have been using Skim for years, but ever since I updated to macOS Catalina, it doesn't seem to render PDFs anymore. Instead, the text in PDFs just shows up as blocks (see screenshot here). Has anyone else experienced this? I feel like I haven't found anyone else running into this issue, which I find somewhat surprising given how often people recommend using Skim (for example, in this use case there are no other alternatives). How can i get cloud support without having all my cloud files download and sync? Posted: 08 Jun 2020 07:09 AM PDT I don't have enough HDD space to have my cloud files download and sync, but i want to have a few folders that sync up with the cloud, so i dont have to keep backing them up. Have you found a way to do this? I don't mind which cloud service i have to use, i have accounts with them all. Edit: Issue largely resolved. A mix between icon confusion and a couple rogue folders not remaining unsynced [link] [comments]
Issue with iMac resuming normal sleep mode schedule after using TDM with MacBook Posted: 08 Jun 2020 12:11 PM PDT I occasionally use my iMac as an external monitor for my MacBook via target display mode with thunderbolt cable. Whenever I am done and the MacBook is disconnected my iMac will not go to sleep as it should. Display stays on no until I manually sleep. Only way to resume automatic sleep schedule I have seen so far is to reset ram on iMac. Any other advice or troubleshooting tips? [link] [comments]
Posted: 08 Jun 2020 10:32 AM PDT So the date is invalid on the one of our MacBook Airs, it hasn't been turned on for a while and we can't connect to anything (Cannot Connect to Apple ID Server) because of it. When I go to Terminal to change the date I get prompted for the password, the password has been changed several times since we've had it and I have no idea what the password is on this one. This is my wife's computer and she doesn't keep a history of her passwords. Is my only option to reinstall the OS? Thanks [link] [comments]
Process group "ApplicationsStorageExtension" eating my RAM? Posted: 08 Jun 2020 09:55 AM PDT Does anyone know what the "ApplicationsStorageExtension" process does (Catalina 10.15.4)? It seems to have some kind of memory leak...I'm running a 2014 13in MacBook pro with 8GB ram and it is currently taking 5GB and growing. [link] [comments]

Remote disconnect a bluetooth device Posted: 08 Jun 2020 04:17 AM PDT Hello, I have a Sony WH-1000XM3 headphones paired on a iMac Pro and on a Macbook 16", my problem is when I'm working at my iMac Pro in the morning and after lunch I want to watch something on my 16" I need to go back to my iMac disconnect the headphones and reconnect them on the 16". Is there anyway that I can disconnect a device remotely, so that I could disconnect my headphones paired on the iMac from my 16" or/and the other way around. Ps: I use the app Toothfairy but doesnt solve my problem but at least makes it easy to connect/disconnect with one click, the app supports shell scripts if there was a way to disconnect the device when the macOS goes to sleep mode would be awesome too (not perfect but would help). Thank you [link] [comments] |
