Thoughts since switch over from Android Posted: 08 Jun 2020 09:16 PM PDT Apple devices always looked and felt better but they were expensive and I was a Linux and Android tinkery. But just like most Linux distorts, it was not that great looking and less stable. And I usually ended up buying a new Android phone every year or 2 just for new features and speed. But amazingly, even an IPhone 6 from 5+ years ago is smooth as hot butter. I've been using the new SE and it feels more consistent design wise and as if most popular apps were designed for IOS and Android is just supported. Apple really understands design and the flow of phones. Bluetooth doesn't randomly screw up, everything is fluid instead of paper, and I feel like I'm holding something of quality. And this whole button without being a button thing is impressive. I like IOS widgets better and they feel less gimmicky. Privacy is less out of my control and my phone feels more private (and it is!). In the past, getting an Android would be fun for getting some new software gimmicks, but then I'd have to buy a new phone within 2 years to get a new Android version. Some Android phones are outdated within months even! But now I can expect to retain a lot of value and expect updates that improve performance and the OS let alone updates at all. All the software tools as simple as a notepad tool are there already in high quality rather than hoping some random app on the play store that wants my location data works and doesn't have ads. I had to download an ugly Gallery viewer app on my last phone just to avoid Google uploading my pictures to the cloud with its Photos app. And all the bloatware that literally takes up 80% of space on some of their phones. It's crazy because android users on forums would piss on IOS users for not wanting customization, but just like on Linux it was always tacky and unsatisfying. More of a gimmick than purposeful design. It all just feels higher quality and focused on letting you do what you need to do. Definitely interested in meshing with the ecosystem as I can still be a techie and also have access to more creative tools. I bought a product and investment rather than a phone with a certain gimmick for that year that might have higher specs in an area like cameras I don't care about. I'll always appreciate companies that have updates with the words "improved performance" in them. Though I get Google and Apple have different business models that keep them running. Overall my main gripe is that the keyboard and screen feel small because my last phone was a little bigger. And certain gestures I'm not used to because of a back button or menu options. EDIT: Oops, messed up line breaks originally [link] [comments]
Posted: 08 Jun 2020 09:25 PM PDT My phone is started to break down. I wanted to know if an iPhone 7 is a good option in 2020. I've been a life long android user thus is also the only iPhone I could afford. [link] [comments]

Is there a way to download a file via Safari, and transfer it to Windows through USB? Posted: 08 Jun 2020 02:48 PM PDT I had to make a fresh install of Windows 10 on my PC, but I forgot to download my WiFi adapter drivers. Is it possible to download them on my iPhone and transfer it over to my PC like a flash drive? [link] [comments]
Is there a way to use my Bluetooth headset's mic for video recording? Posted: 08 Jun 2020 05:57 PM PDT As the title says, I want to use my headset's mic for video recording because when I'm in an airplane, I'd like to use my noise-cancelling mic and not the built-in that will only have wind noise. TIA [link] [comments]
Posted: 08 Jun 2020 08:30 PM PDT I recently backed up my iPhone to my Mac locally and lost all my storage space because my iPhone backup is over 30GB. Why might my backup be so huge? Is there any software I can use like a CleanMyMac equivalent to clean out my phone? [link] [comments]
Facebook via Safari compared to chrome or Samsung browser on Android Posted: 08 Jun 2020 08:34 PM PDT Facebook via browser on iPhone /Android. I used to view Facebook via Samsung or chrome browser on my android device. Every few posts there would be targeted advertising , one that could comment or like on. Now while using Facebook via Safari on iPhone , there is no adverts. Would anyone know what the reason for this is ? Thanks [link] [comments] |
