[Discussion] As a newbie, there should be a disclaimer for paid tweaks that they support only 1 device at a time.

    Posted: 05 Jun 2020 12:30 PM PDT

Hey guys I love this community and the tweaks made by the community. They are so awesome and I have over 50 tweaks installed and no issues :)

I have been buying paid tweaks and for the most part am happy with them. A few that have been something I didn't like or want were easily refunded.

Anyways, I'm somewhat new to purchasing tweaks and this community , so I recently bought a calling tweak and came to find out that I can't use it on both my devices as the license gets transferred and stops working on my iPhone & works on my iPad and vice versa.

I personally did not know that it is a thing and never came across it with other paid tweaks.

Is there a way for me to find out what tweaks are like this and for me to avoid them and purchase alternatives? I don't want to spend $10 (double) to use it on two devices when I can purchase an alternative.

I think that is kind of messed up in a way (my opinion). Maybe it's because I'm new and don't know the ropes, but I feel like there should be a disclaimer because I would've never purchased it in the first place & would have bought an alternative.

I think we should have the choice/ be informed that you have to purchase it separately for other devices so we can make that decision prior to purchasing.

Disclaimer: I am not against that developers doing that, I just feel like there should be a disclaimer before you purchase so you can make that decision before you hit buy. I rather not waste my time & the devs time and energy by buying then asking for a refund when I could of just purchased an alternative.

Also thank you for all the devs who allow us to use your awesome tweaks on many devices :-) You da best. MVP

[Discussion] Bank app using 3rd party website for jailbreak detection

    Posted: 05 Jun 2020 04:31 PM PDT

So after a few days of messing around with KernBypass and a lot of frustration, I finally figured out why I am able to only use my bank app at home and nowhere else.

I have a Pi-Hole at home, and if you've never heard of it, it's basically a RaspberryPi based network-wide adblocker that uses community maintained blacklists (and it rocks). Once I realized this had to be the answer, I logged onto the console to view my phone's DNS history and sure enough there was a blocked entry immediately after I logged onto my bank account. I added the URL to my hosts, disconnected the WiFi, and to my excitement it worked!

This may be a possible for solution for those struggling with jailbreak detection in some apps, though I'm sure this is just one of many techniques developers employ. You can try blocking the same URL I did, but I would assume each app could use different services. If blocking this URL doesn't do the job, then a Pi-Hole or some other DNS filtering setup would be required to see what sites the apps are connecting to and could require some trial and error.

[discussion] how to update AppleTV (HD, 4K) to 13.4.5 OTA from 12.4

    Posted: 05 Jun 2020 05:09 PM PDT

credit to @hirakujira on twitter for this method, I am posting it here because i didn't see it anywhere.

background: i have 2 AppleTVs, both jailbroken with Chimera running 12.4. I didn't update them, and missed the window, now 13.4.6 is the OTA firmware update you'll get, 13.4.5 is the one you want if you wanna unc0ver.

    Things needed:

1.) Apple TV 4K (or HD) under tvOS 13.4.5 (mine was on 12.4)

    2.) Apple Configurator 2

Go to ipsw.me and confirm that tvOS 13.4.5 SHSH is still signed (as of 6/5/20 it is)

3.) tvOS 13.4.5 OTA update XML, download here

4.) Charles the free version is fine, you don't need to buy it.

    5.) Xcode

Basically what we're doing is using a MITM (man in the middle) attack to tell mesu.apple.com that you are requesting 13.4.5 instead of whatever mesu.apple.com wants to give you. That OTA is still signed, so Apple will happily send it to you, AppleTV will install it.

1.) Make sure your AppleTV is connected through xcode.

2.) Open Charles Proxy, select Proxy → Proxy Settings, take a look at the port, the default should be 8888. Then choose Help → SSL Proxying → Save Charles Root Certificate… Save to the desktop, the format must be .cer format!

Leave Charles running - it will run for 30 minutes at a time without a license. You can just restart it if you don't get through this in time (and you probably wont!)

3.) Open Apple Configurator 2, File → New Profile to create a new profile, Select the Certificate option on the left, and add the .cer you created in the previous step. Next, click Wifi, enter your wifi SSID. Click Proxy, select manual, and enter the address of the Mac you are running Charles Proxy on, enter the port you have (default 8888). Enter your wifi password as well. Save the file.

4.) Once you've saved the file, you need to install it on your AppleTV. AppleTV Settings → General → Privacy → Scroll down to "Share Apple TV Analytics" and press the PLAY/PAUSE button (do not SELECT "Share..." mouse over it and hit play) and it will provide you an option to "Add Profile". What I did to make this easy is open Terminal, cd ~/Downloads or wherever you saved the .mobileprofile you made in step 3, and paste ' python -m SimpleHTTPServer 8000 ' (without the ') - this will enable a simple webserver on your mac. On your AppleTV, click Add Profile, and for the address, enter http://192.168.1.100:8000/ProfileYouMadeInStep3.mobileconfig (obviously replacing that IP address with the IP address of your mac, if you didn't realize that you should have stopped 3 steps ago) -- hit enter. Add the profile.

5.) Go back in to Apple TV Settings → General → About → Certificate Trust Settings click on the certificate say that it says "Trusted" Restart the AppleTV. When the AppleTV restarts, you should be prompted in Charles to authorize the connection. You will get some kind of warning about it, click yes.

6.) READ THIS ENTIRE STEP BEFORE YOU DO ANYTHING Go To AppleTV Settings → System → Software Updates. Click Software updates ONCE It will show you that 13.4.6 is available. DO NOT UPDATE TO 13.4.6. You are doing this so that in Charles, you will have an entry for the Apple Update server you need to manipulate. Click Cancel.

7.) Good. We're almost there. now. return to Charles. When you see gdmf.apple.com, right-click and select Enable SSL Proxying.

8.) Go back to the AppleTV Settings → System → Software Updates. Click Software updates ONCE again. Again, do NOT update. Cancel out again.

9.) Go back to Charles. Now, you will see an entry for mesu.apple.com. This is what we want. click the little arrow, and keep expanding them until you see the entry for "com_apple_MobileAsset_SoftwareUpdate.xml".

10.) Right click on com_apple_MobileAsset_SoftwareUpdate.xml, and click "Map Local..." on the bottom. You should see a window with Host: mesu.apple.com port:80 path: /assets/tv/com_apple_MobileAsset_SoftwareUpdate.xml. at the bottom, click "Choose" button under "Map To", and select the .xml file that you downloaded at the beginning of this fucking long and confusing and poorly written tutorial. Click OK.

11.) if you're already jailbroken, Restore RootFS.

12.) give that AppleTV another reboot just for fun.

13.) maybe one more reboot. not kidding, i rebooted it a few times.

14.) make sure Charles is still running! if your 30 minutes timed out, just restart it. You don't need to do all the mapping again.

15.) Go back to the AppleTV Settings → System → Software Updates. Click Software updates. If you did it right, this will now report that 13.4.5 is available. Go ahead and update that bad boy.

I tried to make this a little more straight forward than the chinese translation of the original document he posted, so if it's helpful awesome, if it's not, check it out https://hiraku.tw/2019/09/4828/ and give him a twatter friending or whatever you young folks are tic tocking these days.

I hope this is helpful to someone else, It was a fun thing to get into today. I was bummed i missed the window to just update normally.

edit- you should also be able to just drag and drop the mobileconfig you make in step 4 through configurator, too.

[Update][Free Release] DictMojiX v1.4.8 - Options to Toggle Memoji On/Off & Remove Dedicated Emoji Key

[Update][Free Release] DictMojiX v1.4.8 - Options to Toggle Memoji On/Off & Remove Dedicated Emoji Key

A couple of days ago I saw a request to add a dedicated Memoji category into the emoji keyboard, this tweak however didn't adds a new category into the keyboard, but instead a long press on the DictMojiX icon will toggle Memoji on/off.

This feature will take precedence over long press activate dictation when input keyboard is Emoji, but intelligently fallback to dictation if the input doesn't support Memoji. So this might worth an update post for those who are interested.

Another change that might worth mentioning is that it now also adds an option to removed dedicated Emoji key on keyboard.

Please note that this tweak developed for notched iPhones in mind, it might or might not work properly with iPhone X UI enabling tweak.

[Tutorial] How to Unjailbreak all Devices Running IOS 13.5 Unc0ver Jailbreak (Without losing any data)

    Posted: 05 Jun 2020 01:03 AM PDT

Reposting this too removed a useless step I thought was needed and added an alternative to Flame.

Since this always seems to be a thing that is always needed for anyone new to the jailbreak game. Here are a few easy steps to unjailbreak your device running the Unc0ver jailbreak.

Step 1. If you want to keep a list of your tweaks and sources before you unjailbreak, I would recommend downloading [[Batchomatic]] or [[Flame]] from Cydia and downloading the list of tweaks and sources. I only know how to use flame so if you use that you go to cydia and under the install tab in the top left you will see a folder which flame puts there click it and it will help download a list of tweaks and sources

Step 2. Have been informed by the comments it's always a good idea to run [[Icleaner]] before you unjailbreaking to help clean any unnecessary files out.

Step 3. Next go to the Unc0ver app and hit the settings icon in the top left corner. Next make sure you check on "Refresh icon cache" and then check on "Restore RootFS".

Step 4. Click done on the top left and hit "Restore RootFS at the bottom and let Unc0ver do it's thing and your done.

All of your tweaks and apps from cydia, and cydia itself should now be deleted without the loss of any data.

Thanks to u/joxmy for messaging me this tutorial on how to remove all jailbreak files. Hopefully this can help some of you. I'm not 100% sure it works because I have never done it myself but maybe it will work for you. "Point 1. Restore Yootfs remove partially the JB, around 35%. If you have any app that have JB detection, it will still block for the app (ex: bank app, MKT, Sonic and olympic games, Manio Run, .). Point 2. The only way to remove it at 100% is to use automatic iCloud backup (not backup you do yourself) in Settings- Name->iCloud and you select system apps that will backup data on icloud (Photos, Notes, Contacts, Reminders,... Point 3. You can check about them on iCloud.com on a computer. After you have to backup manually data from apps because generally they are not backup on iCloud on iCloud Drive. Point 4. After you make a restore to ios 13.5 or 13.5.1 using DFU restore using iTunes, you put back you Apple ID without restoring any backup and you will have your data back but you will need t setup your device again and re-download all apps manually and put back their data inside."

For me I have never had any problems with apps that have jailbreak detection after unjailbreaking but after reading through some of the comments I see that may be a common theme. If that is the case and you are still being detected by these apps for a jailbroken device even though it is not there are a few options. First many people after stated in the comments ways to try and fix these issues using FileZilla and Icleaner so give that a try. Unfortunately if that does not work you then you may have to restore your device to fully bypass these apps. Sorry for the confusion and I hope this helps.

Lastly I just want to say thank you to all the devs and tweak creators out there that make iPhone truly great.

Edit: to add step about icleaner and info about jailbreaking detection

Edit 2: I want to pack as much information for new people as possible in here so u/joxmy messaged me a tutorial how to remove the rest of the jailbreak and hopefully stop getting jailbreak detection triggered
